Okay, commenting again because I guess I'm emotional: I just wanted to say how much I love listening to you talk about your faith, so gently and boldly and honestly. I'm Catholic too, and I feel like it gets sorta lonely on booktube because it doesn't seem like there a many of us. But you always bring it up so invitingly and beautifully and it's just such a lovely witness. Watching your videos feels like chatting with a friend!
Emma, a fabulous book list, as always. You have inspired me to read so many amazing works over the years. I love your vlogs. Looking back to to my single self and friends years ago is that many wonderful relationships and marriages were formed when each of us decided that the time was right to "turn on the light." For someone as beautiful and intelligent as you, have no fear.
Merry 6th Day of Christmas! 🎄 I don’t think I’ve seen any creator with such similar tastes as me, so I always have so many intriguing titles to add to my TBR after one of your videos/posts. Also, your delight in stories is always such a joy to watch. 😊 “God really shines when all hope is lost.” Beautifully said!
Merry Christmas Emma!! It’s so wonderful to see another video on your top reads of the year! As much as my TBR list demands it of me, I’m a slow reader and not able to read as much as I would hope 😅 I really loved your words on waiting on God, and simply being a part of the dance that He guides us through in life, praying that as you waltz your way into the new year may the Lord continue to show you each step to take, and above all that He receives all the glory and praise that He so wonderfully deserves ☺️
The Phantom Tollbooth was a favorite too. I need to reread Rose in Bloom now that I have read Thoreau and Emerson. Alcott April was so fun! I love how you talk so freely about your faith in God. P.S. love the sweater and headband. 😊
Some of the quotes you have chosen for each book are just beautiful. I appreciate you reading your favourite quotes, but it is often executed so fast I cannot fully appreciate the message. Reading them myself I can savour each word and feel the depth or wisdom it conveys. I loved the selection you have chosen. Thank you so much for doing this extra work. All the very best for the new year.
I have been waiting for this video! Once again, you add to my TBR! 😊 I got THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH because of you and have enjoyed it. I can't wait to delve into reading again after my move and I have gained more books to add to my list! Merry New Year, Ms. Emma!
Emma, what a great vlog! Thank you for sharing your faith and your journey so openly! I have missed your more regular posts but I also understand and admire you for taking some steps back and not allowing the internet world to take over too much of your life. While a good number of books I read this year were related to my work as a counselor working with foster families and foster and adopted children, I wanted to share a couple that I really enjoyed that were not in that category. First, was the memoir of Darlene Deibler Rose called Evidence Not Seen. She was a missionary in Asia Pacific and was a prisoner of war under the Japanese during WWII. I also really enjoyed The Unseen Realm: Recovering the Supernatural Worldview of the Bible by Michael S. Heisner. I read and am currently reading a trilogy by Pamela Aidan based off the Pride and Prejudice book but through the lens of Mr. Darcy rather than Jane Austen's, Elizabeth Bennett. I have read the first two and am in the midst of the third. Finally, I read C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce. I had a hard time putting that one down. I did buy Elizabeth Goudge's The Little White Horse and hope to read that in 2025. I have such a huge TBR list that I won't list any others, but since you featured The Little White Horse in your 2024 list I thought I would mention that here. May 2025 be a year of continued connection with our Savior for you. Blessings!
A great review of your reading year. I also loved your book quotes. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and your faith. I really enjoyed your videos, they are insightful and encouraging. Many blessings to you in the coming year. 🙏
Thanks for your top-24 list, Emma. My reading discovery this year was Elizabeth Goudge. I found your channel through your video on where to start with her books -- which I found so helpful and inspiring. I just wanted to thank you for that, to let you know that you've made a difference. All best wishes for the New Year. 💐 Carol
I love this sweater and headband on you. So pretty! I didn’t get to join in a lot with your book club this year, but I really enjoyed the few times I was able to!
I am loving your book picks, thank you! Have you thought of doing talks on modern day topics? I would love to hear your view on social media, dating, culture, etc., especially from a Faith based perspective.
Such a treat to find an Emma video! I read Hans Brinker and The Phantom Tollbooth this year for the first time. I'm also in the middle of reading Laura Ingalls Wilder for the first time.

This year was a tough year for me. I have been in need of God's Grace and Forgiveness more than ever. I am hoping this next year finds me with more of His Joy and a trust in His sufficiency.
Romans 3:24 "We are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus". Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the😊 gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast".

I really enjoy your videos and your review of some lesser known books, which has inspired me to read more outside the “popular” novels.

Wonderful video! You are an inspiration!
Self Abandonment to Divine Providence was like that for me as Chesterton was for you. It’s a small book but it took so much to get thru.
Thanks Emma I enjoy watching this thank you ❤
