We went on Royal princess the week prior to your trip. The weather was amazing. Super warm and Sunny. Not a cloud the entire trip. However the food was maybe a D+. With the exception of a few things at the international cafe. The entertainment was ok. I have to say Princess does Alaska the best. I’ve done NCL and Carnival to Alaska before and I love how Princess has all the enrichment and education talks and brings so many specialists onboard. This was a great honest blog which I appreciate.
Thx so much for yr helpful comment! Keep seeing the D+/C- food reviews, but nothing as yet super specific… Would you say it was flavor combinations, or lack of flavor, or badly cooked, or ? I feel I can deal with most issues by eating salads & appetizers, but would that still be an issue? I guess I’m asking was it food quality generally (for ex I’d eat only gravlax all day if it’s fresh enough) or was it mostly taste-free entrees? Thx if you have a chance to answer this 🤗
I’ve been on 18 cruises, so I feel I have a good idea of what to expect. The MDR was just ok. The Rum soup and the French onion soup were out of this world. Otherwise everything else was just bland and unseasoned. Buffet was not great except the Indian food options were amazing. And yes. You won’t starve. International cafe has some great smoothies and quiches and yummy treats. You can also do salad bar on buffet. Also Alfredo’s was really good. You will find stuff to eat. I’m just comparing food to 4 other cruise lines and it wasn’t great in comparison. That said. Princess is the best for Alaska.

It was our favorite place too! They’re so fast, and watching them work was incredible, especially when it was busy. But I loved the service there most of all. Friendly faces, always willing to help, and never making us feel bad for having multiple coffees early every morning haha!
The food is bland because Princess caters to an older crowd. Some seniors have issues with foods that have spices on them. Unfortunately it’s easier to make food without spices. Deserts I don’t know what to say about that one. But glad to hear that you do get to enjoy a dinner.
We are Disney cruisers too and we are going on our first RC next year. I’m hoping we have a good experience. Love your cruise vlogs. I hope you always do them ❤

The wine tasting looked so fun, and those were some really good wines!
We had such a great time with the wine tasting! I loved the venue they chose for it, and they had several different people walking us through the wine tasting. The food pairing was a nice touch. It was a wonderful way to spend an hour on a sea day.
I am booked on the Sapphire Princess southbound to Vancouver in 2 months time. I booked Princess because of the itinerary and land tour offered. I am curious about the food offerings as I’m a bit of a “ foodie” that being said if it was that big of a concern I would have booked , Silversea Seabourn, Oceania etc. But seeing Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier and being in port longer than some other lines compensates for lack luster food taste if that is indeed the case. I appreciate your investment in time in the videos you’ve made. Taste is subjective, I may be agreeing with you in 2 months, only time will tell.

I’ve booked Grand Princess cruise to Alaska, that’s what I’m here. I’ve only cruised with other cruise lines. First time on Princess. How was your food and show experience with Princess?

That was how we approached it too! I was surprised by the food, given our experience with DCL food, but we did have a much (MUCH) better meal on the last day.
Knowing what we know now, I would have had Sabatini’s three times on this cruise, haha!
I've heard the other similar reviews of the food for Princess and RC. Makes me nervous to book anywhere but Disney because we know we like most of their food!
I can understand that.
What I will say is we didn’t, and we don’t, cruise for food. We cruise for the experience of being onboard, and in the case of Alaska, we wanted to see different ports and experience Glacier Bay.
I think it’s all about what you want to get out of your vacation. We never ate something that was “bad” but we did experience some things that I thought could be improved. That’s all I was trying to share here.
I think if you’re considering cruising Alaska, you should look at the ships and their itineraries to help you with your decision.

I have been on probably 10 cruises with Princess and never had bad food and the shows were usually very good. Hope it gets better for you guys!
It wasn’t that the food or show were “bad”. I’m just comparing everything in my mind to precious cruise experiences, which were admittedly on a different cruise line. I never expected the show to be Disney-caliber, because this isn’t Disney Cruise Line! We had a marvelous time and are already discussing going back because we enjoyed ourselves. It was very different from what we were expecting, and from what we had experienced on previous cruises.
(For the food though, the very best meal we had was on the last night of the cruise, so it absolutely got better!)

I watch a lot of you tubers and I am surprised you didn’t enjoy your dinner….hopefully Sabatini’s will make your tastebuds sparkle!
It was Fantastic! The experience for this restaurant and dining experience was excellent in every way. Atmosphere, staff, quality, service, ambiance, down to the smallest detail. We ended the cruise on such a high note.
We will be honest. Things can change, circumstances that can’t be controlled: a staffing change or maybe difficulty obtaining quality ingredients. We want to be honest in the videos. Sponsored videos or when every video is portraying perfection can be suspect.

Would you recommend eating at the international cafe for dinners rather than the formal dining rooms? And going there requires no reservation, right? Loving your videos and following this trip!
It’s a quick walk up counter service only. If all you want is a quick bite, it’s perfect.

I am cruising in August... first Princess Alaska cruise. is this recently? Trying to figure out clothing. I see alot of jeans, hoodies on the ship inside. And what about the evening meal for clothes? Is it really as casual as some say?
We don't go until August of 2024 and we are already wondering about packing. My husband REALLY doesn't want to try to pack his suit for a formal night if he doesn't have to. He'd rather have the room for regular clothes ( layers) & rain gear. & still not have an over weight suitcase for the flight.
Are you normally so picky? It’s just strange to me that you have complained about every meal and now the shows? Sorry I may rethink being subscribed to your channel
I agree. This is only the 2nd video i have seen. Dont think i will bother with anymore. I have over 30 Princess cruises under my belt and have never had to moan about the food or the shows

Good lord! If you're so keen on spending the bucks for Disney, why not take a Disney Alaska trip?

I thought the same thing. Came here because I love LeggLife. Surprised they are good friends with Adam and Sherri who are sweethearts. So whiny! I’ve been on a Disney Cruise and a Princess Cruise and I preferred everything about the Princess cruise including the food. Don’t think I’ll watch anymore of their videos.
