- Formal Night onboard the Holland American Eurodam! Today we got to know the Eurodam a bit better and had formal night at sea. We are making progress now toward Alaska and the inedible destinations that are forthcoming.

Sailed on the Eurodam and it was one of the best cruise I was ever on . Food was great and the all over feel of the ship is great, Enjoy
I do love the look of the ship- very classic! I'm fond of the small ships myself, but like to sail on the bigger ships once in a while for all the options. I hear you on the movement on the smaller ships! If you're willing to spend a bit more you might enjoy Celebrity. It's also very relaxing, the food is excellent and there are lots of places to enjoy tranquility. I love your tie and jacket color combination for formal night- looking very sharp there, Michael!

Sailed our first HAL cruise this past summer in the Norwegian fjords..I had same impression.. very relaxing! No distractions from the beautiful views.. can't wait to sail HAL again

Finally, someone who gets it. I was 40 when I discovered HAL . Never looked back. Now I’m part of their demographic. Panama Canal on this ship coming up for me. Relax Relax Relax.

I’m so glad that your honest about the food, I took my first cruise a couple weeks ago and I watched videos for a year to prepare for my trip and especially watched a lot of videos on the quantum of the seas since that’s the was I was sailing on, and aside from having food available 24/7 , the quality of the food was on the same level as cafeteria food, , but I get it , they’re preparing for 4000 people, so if I decide to cruise again , I think I’d like a smaller ship to get better quality, I mean you got High Tea , that’s amazing

as parents to 5 kids, even though we are 34 and 35 we are booking the konigsdam to alaska next year because we want the relaxation, and the spa.

Great Vlog thanks for sharing Michael. I was up there a couple months ago on Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas and am loving getting to see how different the two ships are.

We did Alaska on the Disney Wonder twice and could feel the rocking of the ship/creaking. It definitely makes you question the sturdiness of the ship.
We were on the Wonder in a storm in 2019. It was a bit nerve wracking!

I am glad, Michael, that you are trying different cruise lines. I think they're all great in their own way and they all bring something different to the table. It's a true cruiser who can appreciate the differences and embrace them for the time that they're on the cruise. I think if you are looking for a particular favorite Cruise line in another Cruise line you're not going to find it.

Just FYI. Sailing on the outside of Vancouver island is always a bumpy ride. I personally love Princess to Alaska. They have so many presentations on Alaska, and it’s so informative.

I'm happy to see you relaxing on this cruise but I am disappointed that your meals seemed to be just okay. Shocked to see the flooding in Orlando and praying that you're okay--Susan
We loved the Radiance class from Royal for the same reasons.
You should try a white noise machine they are awesome. Also, I did Celebrity to Alaska in late June from Vancouver because I was told it is much less rocky on the first couple of days because you are not in such open waters as you are from Seattle. September tends to be rougher also. Loved Alaska I'm sure you did too.
How was Celebrity? Thinking of booking for August.

Maybe the banana bread French toast is a matter of taste. It sure sounds like something my wife might enjoy.
For less turbulent sailing, I've heard going middle season to Alaska is best.
It’s rockier 😊because you’re sailing on the west side of Vancouver Island. Next time sail out of Vancouver to sail through the inside passage…between the east side of Vancouver Island and mainland BC. It’s more scenic and less rocky.

I like HAL a lot. Same reasons. Newer ships, also relatively small, are even better. Sailing in that area is always rough. I went on the Ruby Princess and it was ugly. Once you hit Alaska it calms down.

Just a bit of perspective - we sailed on Royal Caribbean to Alaska and although it did offer more actives (Flow Rider, outdoor pools and splash pads, rock climbing) these were pointless as it was too cold/windy to actually partake in the activities. The outdoor pools were also closed so we only had the indoor pool. We were absolutely disappointed with RC's take on Alaska and would never recommend them for Alaska... We have been on a Disney cruise to Alaska and it was heads better. If someone wants to experience Alaska - don't go on Royal.
See we cruised from Vancouver on Radiance and absolutely loved it. Agree with you the outside activities are hard. But the smaller radiance class is completely different for Alaska.
