Awesome vid mate - please keep it up!
How often do you go urbnsurf? Do you surf other beaches around Melbourne?

Hey thanks for the kind words!
I go roughly once every 3-4 weeks, generally when the surf is bad in vic. I surf anywhere as I’m an hour or two from any beach so I just go to quieter places that are working. What about yourself?

Hello brother. I greet you from Peru. I'm thinking about taking a trip to Asia and I have a stopover in Sydney so I plan to stop at UrbnSurf. My level is intermediate, it is similar to yours as I see in your videos. I have the ability to paddle the wave and stand up quickly and get on track on the wave. However, it is still very difficult for me to make breaks and turns.
My goal this 2025 is to improve and also get a good barrel. What do you recommend?
I was thinking about booking two sessions. One at intermediate and the other advanced. But I'm afraid of wasting my money on advanced or do you think it's worth it?
Is it very scary or dangerous? or not so much. Like, is the wave deep or if I fall I am going to hit the floor?
Sorry i have lots of questions but i am very excited for this. For me is a dream to surf these waves.
Thank you very much for all your feedback.

      Hi thanks for your comment.
If you want to get barreled I recommend start of with intermediate to get the feeling of the wave pool. It’s very different to the ocean when you paddle into it.
Then I recommend going to expert not advanced. Expert is a barrel the whole time, advanced is only a barrel wave for half the session. It’s costs more to do expert but you’ll have more chances to get barrelled.
It can be a bit dangerous in the barrel when you fall off it pushes you against the wall, so definitely wear a helmet!
Ask people in the session for some tips as we’ll find someone doing it well and ask them for a quick tip or two, it will make such a difference. I do it everytime I’m in the harder session to find out how I could be catching the waves better.
It is a great experience I hope you are able to get in a couple sessions and get barrelled!! Best of luck and let me know how you go!

So you can hit the bottom easily?

Yes definitely hence the strong recommendation of using a helmet

    You have zero speed control,
To best surf any wave you need to be able to go faster (pump). And to be able to go slower (stall)
You should be pumping at the start to get to flat and then as it throws the lip stall into the barrel.
Also that board is too big and flat for a steep wave like that. Get a short board or a gun with a big rocker on it.
