This ACTUALLY helped me go to sleep
@@TheRandomsZara hahaha glad to hear :)
Hey mate, awesome video! I’ve been wanting to try the barrel setting, but I’m a bit hesitant because I’ve heard stories of people getting hurt. I’m an intermediate surfer and usually have no trouble on the advanced turns sessions. How hard is it if you hit the bottom? Do you often hit your head on the bottom?
@@eduardoozanan hey thanks for the kind words legend! If you have no trouble on advanced turns session this will feel so mellow compared to that. Yeah it’s bloody hard if you hit the bottom but I think maybe once my back touched the bottom on a bad fall and barely at that. The bigger issue is if you fall off a wave all the water pushes you up on the side wall, so that feels more dangerous, just have to remember if you fall off that’s going to happen and you can normally manage it fine. I definitely reckon you should give it a go!! Just definitely wear a helmet and a wetsuit for some padding even if it’s warm in the water
@ Thanks for the tips mate. I will definitely try it at some point.
@@eduardoozanan no worries. Let me know how you go if you end up doing it!
looks sick bro, appreciate the content
@@iamdeer2729 Thankyou legend! Appreciate the kind words
That fella that smacked his head was my mate ended up with 5 or so stitches he's all good and still rippin
@@jimmykingo6785 glad to hear he’s ok!! Was gutted to see it happen he was doing so well before hand
@@shoeyssurfing Yeah man was his own board that did it too
Awesome clips and tips! Looks like you’re getting better every video. Even on the cruiser setting, I felt that it had enough push for my short board, I can’t even imagine what the barrel mode would feel like. Even progressive turns is scary for me hahaha. Maybe one day I’ll try it when I’m better. Btw I hope you post more often, your videos are great!!
@@SooieSurfs I have no idea who you are but I absolutely loved waking up just now and reading this message! You are a legend thanks for making my day! You’ll get there! The cruiser freaked me out the first time and after many sessions it feels so easy, I’m sure the same will happen for you with progressive turns. Definitely get used to intermediate first before doing the barrel setting. Although it honestly feels like a cruiser wave at the very start it’s not as scary as you might think
What’s is compared to progressive turns
@@Cooperjepmtb hey thanks for the comment. It’s quite similar, take off from basically same spot. Just a stronger slightly bigger wave. Feels like got more power and if you have the skill can definitely do more turns on it. Also halfway into it the waves ramp up that bit more, which doesn’t happen in progressive turns
That wave from 3:30 looked awesome
@@major_tm Thankyou legend!
Is the full video coming?
@@DavidLim-v8u it most certainly is! This weekend I’ll put it out
@@shoeyssurfing I'll look forward to it!
So nice in conditions like that. We've had a few recently in Tassie. 😁
@@tassiewatersports9266 yeah always a great time! Nice! Whereabouts in Tassie do you surf most? I have to get back down soon
@@shoeyssurfing Mostly the Southern Beaches around Hobart, but I love heading up the East coast. I've surfed much of Tassie, the North Coast is probably where I've missed. Done a bit on the west and even the South West when I worked on a cray boat. Magic spots. 😁
@ yeah sounds amazing! What board you normally surfing around Hobart? I’ve mostly surfed Bruny and Carlton beach, my family lives there so never ventured far. Where do you recommend I go next time I’m down there? Want something bit more of a wave than Carlton
@@shoeyssurfing Tassie is a real mix, and depends on the swell and wind. If it's East, you head up the East Coast, if it's south, then everything from Carlton, to Remarks and Roaring on the peninsula, or South Arm. It just depends on the size. Bruny is great, if it's 3m and Northerly wind. That's the thing down here, so many options. I have several boards, from a 6'6" rounded pin for juice, to a 6'2" swallow for the mid size and 6'6" fat fish for smaller stuff, as well as a 10ft SUP for grovelling 1-2ft. Gotta be versatile here. I grew up in Coffs Harbour, and had one board.
@ thanks for the tips! Yeah I can never decide what board to bring when I come. Hope you get some great waves soon!

Hello brother. I greet you from Peru. I'm thinking about taking a trip to Asia and I have a stopover in Sydney so I plan to stop at UrbnSurf. My level is intermediate, it is similar to yours as I see in your videos. I have the ability to paddle the wave and stand up quickly and get on track on the wave. However, it is still very difficult for me to make breaks and turns. My goal this 2025 is to improve and also get a good barrel. What do you recommend? I was thinking about booking two sessions. One at intermediate and the other advanced. But I'm afraid of wasting my money on advanced or do you think it's worth it? Is it very scary or dangerous? or not so much. Like, is the wave deep or if I fall I am going to hit the floor? Sorry i have lots of questions but i am very excited for this. For me is a dream to surf these waves. Thank you very much for all your feedback.
Hi thanks for your comment. If you want to get barreled I recommend start of with intermediate to get the feeling of the wave pool. It’s very different to the ocean when you paddle into it. Then I recommend going to expert not advanced. Expert is a barrel the whole time, advanced is only a barrel wave for half the session. It’s costs more to do expert but you’ll have more chances to get barrelled. It can be a bit dangerous in the barrel when you fall off it pushes you against the wall, so definitely wear a helmet! Ask people in the session for some tips as we’ll find someone doing it well and ask them for a quick tip or two, it will make such a difference. I do it everytime I’m in the harder session to find out how I could be catching the waves better. It is a great experience I hope you are able to get in a couple sessions and get barrelled!! Best of luck and let me know how you go!
@@shoeyssurfing Thanks!
sick video bro keep up the grind

Ur dogs eating grass. U should stop that.
@@TylerDobbs-g5u he’s half sheep he’ll be right
lmao what are you on about? dogs can eat grass and be just fine 🤣
Dogs eat grass intentionally to aid digestion idiot.
@@wewya. They will be fine but they can't digest it and they throw it back upand if they keep doing that over time it's not good. Best to just cut the habit. Its not a good habit for a dog to have. Some of them eat grass too make themselves throw up, some of them eat it cuz they don't know any better and we are their shepherds so it is up to us to teach them right from wrong and it's just not really good for dogs to be in the habit of eating grass.

gunnamatta? yep. have had a session like this there. Will never go back. Im a good swimmer, but I reckon I nearly drowned lol. was so wrecked. so much current, so many rocks. awful
@@metalmaster76 yes it gets like that. I’ve had a similar experience I nearly drowned there two years ago when had a triple hold down. have always been very cautious when I go back and try to only go on small days but a place like this can pick up out of nowhere. Hope you’re still surfing though!
brutal reality...
@@gi4nn354 doesn’t happen often but man it’s humbling when you have these sessions
What I've read during my prep for the wave pool you should be 5m away from the wall. I could be wrong but it looks like you might be a lot closer than that (as your having to do a white water take off) but it's hard to tell from wide angle footage? 🤙
@@Aidan.17 that’s definitely too far away in progressive turns and cruiser setting you definitely want to be only a meter maybe two max away from the wall
Sheshhh
It was a great morning for it. Good video. Which beach is that? Kind Regards, Phil
