That was an easy watch, start to finish, Jim. Don't worry about the length. Wonderful restomod. The engine bay rebuild turned out seamlessly with your careful work. It's a cause near and dear to our hearts too. Petra says hello with a big thank you! 🍁☕🩷
Thanks so much Andrew! Getting that engine bay worked out really makes the other missing engine Red Riders and Cosmic Blues castings I have tempting to work on lol. Please give Petra my regards. I'm sure you're happy to be back home and she's happy to have you there!
You bet I read CARToons Magazine as a kid! My wife is a breast caner survivor so we donate each year. I love this one, Jim! Every year you just nail these PAINT IT PINK Invitationals. Thank you for doing it every year, and for bringing attention to it.
Jim, thank you for participating in this build. I recently lost a loved one to this vile disease. This is a wonderful tribute to all those who have had to deal with it.
Another beautiful build for the breast cancer awareness keep up the good work stay safe and healthy out there my wife says hi giggles and God bless my friends
Fabulous, and you did, in my estimation, the perfect amount of detailing. I would have painted the pipes white, regretted it, and put them back to black. I too like CS paint, your application is next level. Thanks for posting and supporting such a worthy cause!
Thanks! I can relate to the "painting them white, regretting it, putting them back to black" kind of thing since I've done that many times. As time as gone on doing these silly little cars, I've think I've learned some things that help me reduce the number of times it happens -- it's not eliminated...but it's not every build now 🤣🤣🤣
Looks beautiful, turned out great. I prefer the pipes and bumpers to be chrome, with this casting that is easy to do. thanks for sharing I love the clean look
Thanks! About the pipes and bumpers - most of the time I feel the same way and prefer them chrome - but for this one I wanted to remain somewhat true to the original Red Rider and I think the contrast of the black against the pink is much more striking.
Super cool casting brother, I went through quite a few of those as a kid. It looks amazing and you did one hell of a job. It is awesome how the community can come together and do something for the cause and awareness.
Thanks Paul! I was thinking that one of the Muscle Machines engines would work well on the casting...especially since they have a similar style...and I'm really happy with the results.
Love it. Long videos are fine when they are interesting and illustrate the challenges, and how you tackle them, Jim! The car looks terrific, though I can't help wondering why you didn't just paint the Muscle Machine! Nice to see the whole process though. Worthy cause, and worthwhile result!
Thanks Fraser! As to the "just paint the Muscle Machine" question, I try to bring a little "more" to my builds when I can, such as trying to bring back this Matchbox casting when I can't find a replacement engine for it. I think it makes the videos more interesting...and it sure makes the build more challenging for me.
Very nice sir! Thanks for the motor idea as I have 2 of these w/o motors lol. Also agree w/no decals! I did the same as I felt it would cheapen the look of the builds....
I randomly seen the thumbnail on my feed and thought..man this specific casting must have had a thing with loosing its engine😅. I have a blue one ("pi eyed piper") i picked up used a while back and it's engine is gone. Ive been waiting to find the perfect engine replacement for it and to fix it back up. These old "super fast" matchbox have a awsome look to them.
They do have a really fun look to them! About the engines - I think it's the combination of having an engine that complete with the intake extends way above the roof line of the car...and then holding it in place with two small plastic posts. Those engines were doomed to disappear lol
Just watch this video was a really good job I was going to tell you that I had a 65 Chevy pickup when I wanted to do work on the engine I could sit on the fender stick my feet in the engine bay and still have room for a toolbox and my buddy who helped me out with most things
LOL it was crazy how much space there was in the engine bay back in the day. There was SO much room it made it easy to work on the car...but not any more. Heck, I'm lucky if I can figure out half of the stuff under the hood, and you're only able to see about a third of it lol.
Looks beautiful Jim. I have 2 or 3 of them and of course missing the engines. Gave me good ideas in swapping engines I have laying around. I built a old Bronco and mixed up a custom pink. Hope it doesn't get lost in email world like my last few that didn't make the videos. Great work!
Thanks John! I figured that there should be some good options on replacement engines, with the only real challenge being the shape of the existing engine bay. After this, I know that so many of the Muscle Machine or similar casting engines will work well. I hope your picture gets to the Horsemen safely!
@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms you're welcome. Where there is a will there is a way. I just picked up another one in pretty good shape with the engine for $1
Thanks Anthony! I was thinking that Round 2 only had parts for current castings...like a missing parts replacement. Guess I'll have to see what they have for Matchbox like this.
Thanks! The wheels are off of another casting (as is the engine) - it was a pretty darn good looking Camaro lol and I show it at around 2 1/2 minutes or so into the video.
It's a jewelers saw or coping saw. If you get one, be sure to lubricate the blade with wax, such as the beeswax I use - it makes the cutting much easier and the blade lasts MUCH longer. I have the saw listed in my Amazon storefront www.amazon.com/shop/jimsilva/list/3UQLN39BKPTH4?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_aipsflist_WENAJRFY28C6SMPE9CVR

Great build Jim. That paint looks like a mirror and the engine was an amazing addition. A great cause in breast cancer awareness!
Thanks so much Todd!
The paint is amazing, great job Jim.
Keep em comin y’all 🇺🇸🤘🏽🛻👏🏽
Thanks so much Jesse - another build video is out this Saturday.

Did someone mention CARToons......5 stars for that alone
Jim, thank you for participating in this build. I recently lost a loved one to this vile disease. This is a wonderful tribute to all those who have had to deal with it.
Thanks so much Russ. I'm sorry for your loss...it really has taken far too many from us all.

Thanks so much JC! Hi to your wife and I hope you both have a wonderful week!
AWESOME IN PINK .
Nice work

So clean, Jim.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Uri!
Cosmic Blues is one of my favorite castings. Great Job!!
Thanks Patrick! It's one of my favorite castings too!
Looks great Jim! I know how personal these builds are to you, and it shows in the amount of time and detail you put in every year.
Thanks so much Jamie! It really is a special event for me and I try to do something a little "extra" for it.

Absolutely amazing. So well done!
Thanks so much Bruce!
This is fantastic! I can’t help but think of Bubblicious bubblegum. This build is much sweeter than the bubblegum.
Thanks Leo! It is a bubblicious color lol
I'm with andrew the engine bay fill in is flawless. Absolutely amazing job
Thanks so much Neil! I couldn't be any happier with how the engine bay change worked out!
All I can say is WOW. I’m not even a fan of this casting, but this build won me over 😁
Thanks so much Brian!
Love that Red Rider in pink Jim!
Thanks Ron! I'm really happy with how the pink works on the casting!
Definitely a fantastic build I really like the paint job.
Thanks Brandon!

Thanks Armando!
Beautiful Zinger look alike! GREAT job!
Thanks Ken!
Turned out great! Simple and clean. 🎨😎👍
Thanks so much!
Well done, great engine bay rebuild...she's pretty in pink
Thanks Dan! The engine bay portion of the build really was the challenge of the build...can't let my JB Weld skills start getting rusty on me LOL
Another great build Jim! Love your work!
Thanks John!
"Pink Power" or "Pink Piper" maybe? Awesome job Jim! 👊❤
🤣🤣🤣 Thanks
Wow Jim, that came out great! Length of video was fine. I really enjoy your builds.
Thanks so much!
Well... at least 5 of us participated this year. Great job 👍
Thanks Cat! I've seen quite a few of the Pink builds now - I think I've watched at least a dozen of them.
@@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms You like mine? 😸
Beautiful work Jim. Really nice job.
Thanks so much!
Nice job Jim. Love how it turned out. Sweet build
Thanks Jody!
now that was dirty... :) and looks so clean now. love the nicely detailed engine, too. ^^
Thanks so much Lothar!

Thanks so much David! I'm really happy with how the engine bay work turned out and the Color Shot paint worked fantastically again!
Awesome job. That’s a good looking replacement engine.
Thanks Paul! I was thinking that one of the Muscle Machines engines would work well on the casting...especially since they have a similar style...and I'm really happy with the results.
You love the "Big Banger"! Me too! Of course, it turned out fantastic!
Thanks Mark! Yep, it's a fantastic casting!
Nice build, details and paint job 👌 👍
Thanks Joe!

Thanks Scott! That Color Shot paint can yield some fantastic results!
Awsome Build
Thanks John!

Thanks! It's such a fun casting that I hated to see them just sitting around because of the engine situation...so I'm really glad this change worked.
Emeryboards are a customizers best friend when it comes to stryrine
They really are!
Can't screem pink eny loader than that.nice job jim.👍🏻🍻

When Steve Austin,Trosley and Shaun Kerri made the big motored, big tired rides in Cartoons Magazine
It was such a fun magazine!
Nice build Jim! Really like the wheel set. Where did you them?
Thanks! The wheels are off of another casting (as is the engine) - it was a pretty darn good looking Camaro lol and I show it at around 2 1/2 minutes or so into the video.
Lovely ❤❤ Pinky
Thanks!
Where do I find a string hacksaw just like yours for cutting model stuff? I don't know the name of that saw
