    Great study on the narcissism expressed by and repented of by Saul/Paul! Christ made him a new man, and can do the same for any narcissist who repents. Praise God. And great point that the prudent disciples gave time for him to prove who he now was, and he had the humility to wait for their approval.

      Sorry but Paul was never a narcissist. This is just a new age term. In the Bible, it was called the "lover of self" andcas a result , you deem your opinion and ideas superior to others around. But we have no proof Paul was such a man. All we know is he had zeal for God That wasn't correct while he was Saul.

    I think, overall, my biggest grief is my husband’s refusal to change. He grew up in the church with overtly Christian parents. Narce mum, passive dad caused so much damage, I get that. But to go on and choose to hurt your wife and kids? I’ve spent years pleading with God for Him to change him, but he hasn’t, and I just don’t get it. What a waste of a life. He had so much - he’s very intelligent, very gifted with many talents, but he refuses to change. Wilfully choosing to hurt others just seems incongruous to me. No one wins. I understand that non-Christians, without hope, will be given over to evil if they choose. But why would someone, apparently a Christian, with such great teaching build up such a strong hold of abusive behaviour toward their young children?

    They'll probably never repent without the power of God. I just had to let go of a narc in early October. I feel so sad that I wasted 2 years on him. But God took what the devil meant to destroy me and caused the narc to be a blessing to me. It's a miracle and I thank God for that. But I stayed too long after I asked God to show me about the guy. God showed me in dreams and allowed the narc to narc so I could see and get confirmation that I kept asking for.
    I love your use of the example of Saul to Paul, best example of all! The Pharisees and Sadusees were also big time narcs.

  • @tessw9744
    @tessw9744 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    As always excellent video and analysis. ❤️
    Y'know I saw the Pharisees as narcissists, I think you did as well in a past video. And I think an even bigger example was Nebuchadnezzar. He was so haughty he viewed himself as if he was a God who had built his own empire.
    It took God turning him into something akin to an animal, where he could be seen grazing in grass, to change ole Nebby. God had to break him and literally humiliate him before men. It was only then he repented and praised God when the Lord restored his human image.
    That spirit/groups of spirits is rough, because I believe it is a spirit that blocks the Narcissist from receiving and acting on the grace of God and the correction of the Holy Spirit. If they feel the correction, there are spirits that "rescue" them from feeling shame about their wrongdoing. They begin to rationalize why the victim deserved the bad treatment and why they as the narcissist is not the one who has to change. So they end up resisting the grace of God needed to sanctify their lives. Y'know what I mean? God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble, humility is death to the narcissist, they're allergic to it.
    Humility is what outs our flesh to death, because we need to answer the correction of the Holy Spirit with repentance and change...that needs the ability to see our actions as sinful and change it....may even require apologizing profusely.
    Not to say it's not possible for a narcissist to meet God and change. But it is difficult. A woman on TH-cam was a professed narcissist and she struggled deeply with sanctification. Her channel has since been removed after about a year of videos.
    One thing that always stuck with me that she said in reference to her narcissist mother's abuse, *"The hardest thing I ever did was admit that how my mother acted towards me, was abuse."*
    I see this same thing in my own mother, she makes excuses for her narcissist mother's treatment of her and sees her as just a "critical mom", but still a mom that loved her. But if she really admitted her mom was abusive, then how could she deal with the fact that she treated me the same?
    Interesting stuff to think about.

    Great insights! I would mention that this is a particular case of grandiose narcissism (or malignant narcissism), and it might not hurt to mention that this behavior differs from that of a covert (or vulnerable) narcissist
    But spot on with your descriptions here; very helpful for those who want to know what true repentance looks like from a narcissist.

    • @krystalMtn
      @krystalMtn ปีที่แล้ว +8

      So true. Most people do not have the insight of how a covert narcissist would present themselves, behave, or respond in situations and that they are an entirely differently creature than the classic narcissist. The use of Paul could be viewed as narcissism, but absolutely not a covert narcissist.
      Also it is known that coverts tend to be more dangerous to others and closer to a sociopath on the disorder spectrum of which narcissists, sociopaths, and psychopaths exist. Making them more dangerous in nature, to those around them.

    But one day I yelled into the sky and disowned God. So understand when you are a narcissist you serve the devil. And the devil wasn't to happy with this decision. 2yrs later I got hit by car and saw the demon eyes and every since I've been with the true God the creator the the one and only. And i have been under attack spiritual every since. So from my experience denounce satan and you will be free.

    A very slim chance for a narcissist to repent and allow God to reform their thinking and give them a real heart. I believe a true Christia should confront them, as the Bible says, to go to a person in sin. I have found that does not happen. I hear "i dont want to get involved, ill just pray for them." So sad that people are not brave enough and dont do what the Bible says.

      False, everyone who is not saved is in the devils prison house. The same way it takes a miracle to save us takes the same miracle to save them. I'm curious as to how early narcissism can show up in a personality? I'm a school bus driver, and I really care about the children on my bus. Many of them are from broken homes and have difficult lives. But I've got one third grader in particular, who is bright, creative and sometimes funny. But he makes it his business to be absolutely contrarian. He is obnoxious and loud. He seemingly has no empathy for anyone. Whenever I reprimand him, it's never his fault. He is full of excuses. He lies to my face. And then he'll turn around and complain that no one likes him and no one would care if he was dead. I am often successful in teaching children how to resolve their differences or to behave differently if they want a different outcome. But this child just absolutely will not learn. I'm often torn between pity and anger regarding his behavior. We just go round and round and never really get anywhere. Is it possible that he is a narcissist? Is there anything I can do to guide this young person? It's sincerely makes me sick at heart to consider his future.

    • @angietorok8389
      @angietorok8389 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I need to add that I've also suspected demon possession. I don't mean to sound crazy, but he's growling and yelling things like "I'm the demon king. All of you must obey me!". I just don't see other children behaving this way. For the most part, they just ignore him.

    I think Saul was well along the spectrum for narcs, and Paul had the pendulum swung quite far the other way....but still had a few narc traits which is understandable because it is, after all, part of his personality. For years Paul 'bothered' me. I have suffered a lot of narc abuse from a"Christian' mother and I think I am ultra sensitive and find some of Paul's writings triggering. Perhaps it is the tendency to humble-brag...I don't know. Definitely a swing in the right direction for him, though.

    • @chrisanok9283

    I'm relatively new to your channel, having narcissisim come to my attention last Nov. I've been studying this as it appears this is a huge end-time issue...2 Tim 3:1.
    And as it appears HS is bringing this to our attention. To me it seems God may be also releasing Strategies of Victory against this spiritual attack.
    Have you studied John 20:23 when Jesus declared the "remission" of sin? Some tranlate this as forgiveness, but remitting is different. That's a temporary "breaking off of external" sin which may make hearing HS difficult if not impossible. The reason it's temporary is the object continues to sin and "rolls in the mud." Henry Gruver was a world-wide prayer walker and taught on remitting sin to break into sin infested lives and areas. He confirmed a message I received in the late 90s in how inercessory prayer can help those needing help in hearing HS speak to them.
    I believe HS is releasing more information in how we can pray for people in the grip of narcissistim and all the evil spirits working together to destroy these lives.

    So strange this Christian girl technically apologized.. said she wanted to be a proverbs 31 woman but she was the opposite lol. It’s because two days before I prayed God send me a wife to glorify you as much as possible. I already kinda had one.. but this one popped up and gave all energy to the evil one. She had demons and at my weakest she switched and said she didn’t love me or care about me or like me.. but I decided to be gentle in hopes God may grant her repentance. I asked her why is she doing doing this. She said. Because she thinks I wouldn’t like her unless she did. So it’s weird she took some accountability. We talked a bunch… it was strange she said I’m just a puppy who wants love. She said she liked her exes because she couldn’t control them… but it seemed like she wanted control over me. Once I gave a little bit. She then became this weird dominant demon. And belittled me and devalued me. She said her exes would yell at her.. and one called her mommy…. How can u call someone mommy and be in control of the relationship? That’s where I saw some lies. Biggest mistake was I didn’t read the Bible for 3-5 day. When we started talking… it’s because the timing.. righter after praying for a wife she came so I was emotionally blind.. I tried to be defensive but she still got in…
    Ever since that evil call. I got her the true gospel she claimed to believe it… she hasn’t been mean like that since… but she has pulled back a lot. I’m not interested in her romantically. But she’s been delaying answering some of my questions.. I think it’s cause if she answers she’ll know I’ll be gone. Right now I’m just reading a lot in hopes of helping

    I don't think Saul was a narcissist. He didn't create a false self. He wasn't motivated by a false self and he was operating like all of us pre-conversion, from an belief system that in his world was righteous and justified. Killing Christians wasn't an act of arrogance, pride or attempt to gain approval from men. Just like King David slew tens of thousands in battle, Paul justified in his mind, a legal reason to defend his God who demanded ultimate commitment to protecting his name. Paul responded to God immediately and the revelation of Christ doesn't come as encounters to deceptive narcissists. Jesus said the true worshippers worship in truth and in Spirit. The Holy Spirit isn't going to reveal Jesus to a person who defends lies as a means to justify abusing people. That wasn't Saul's intent, to abuse people. He was God focused in his mind. His badges of honor from the Hebrew of Hebrew status were authentic and in his old testament reality, were indeed the measure of what it meant to please God. He was under the law and that was his only means of pleasing God, until he met Jesus and came to know the love of God and the forgiveness of sin available to everyone. I just don't think the big pre Christ titles he rejects is synonymous with anything different than everyone of us before Christ who had ego identities and self value ideas that were from external measures. All of us, as we come to Christ, come to the understanding that inherently we have nothing to offer God on our own. Paul was using his high status achievements to preach the same reality of identity shift to the work of Christ and what He did for us. It wasn't a deductible conclusion to assume that his killing Christians or his religious ideas and pre Christ identity made him a narcissist. Two major indicators of a Narcissist that Saul did not possess was deception and manipulation, a false self, and the MOTIVES to suspend a false identity and pride. We have to see the motive through Saul's eyes, an old testament religious Jew who in his world pleased God by being separate and refusing to tolerate anyone that would bastardize his God's name. Christians, from his perspective were doing just that. He just needed God to reveal the truth. And because Saul was a pursuer of God, unwavering in commitment and adherence to truth, he was a candidate (obviously) for God to meet him where he was and use him. ------- I agree with you. Narcs that talk about encounters with God are just liars using emotional experiences from a church to wrap a new narrative around a hoovering attempt. We have to look behind the behaviors and relationship to see the motives. Saul's motives don't match anything from narcissism. It's not deduced from behavior without context.
    And. . . ha. . . I don't think God violates his own principles. He loves and wants free will recipients of his love in his kingdom. We can choose to reject God. That's our free moral right. God will not violate a rebel liar who thinks he can manipulate reality and reject God's requirement to truth and recognition of need. God's never going to violate the narcissists free will in order to save them. God is an awesome God and he doesn't conform to our needs and selfishness to reach us. We have to take part in pursuing truth. That comes with the acknowledgement of sin and need. Narc's refuse to live outside of their fake self that denies and protects all wounds and flaw. That's life and death to them. So, how is a narcissist going to come to Jesus and be delivered from sin, selfishness, and lies? That's why we need a new model that includes motives when assigning narcissist labels to people. We have to understand their world view and motives. Deception, false self, and motives to take pleasure in hurting people were not in Saul. He was a Jew defending his God, from an ego perspective, just like each of us defended our identities and value from an ego perspective prior to Christ.

    I don't think that Saul was a narcissist in the way we think of narcissism now.
    Ironically he shows more signs of narcissism after becoming Paul, but it's still very debatable and not much ground to make a psychiatric analysys to a person lived so long ago in a totally different culture.

    No, I think this is too much of a reach, for me. Saul was a believer, and a zealot. He did what he thought was right, as he thought people were being led astray. God encountered Saul to reveal to him, personally, who He is. If you think Saul was a narcissist, then who isn't one, in your mind? I'm afraid society is at the point we're seeing narcissists behind every bush. It's getting crazy.

      @corinnaschutt4229 yes, God revealed Himself to Saul, thus giving him knowledge of the true Christ to follow. Yet, that doesn't mean Saul was a narcissist, unless we're going to lump all leaders in that category. Today, there are many "Saul's", who are zealouts, not knowing Christ. They believe they're fighting for their faith. That doesn't make them narcs, necessarily.

    Even if a narcissist does "repent" they still have to face their judgment day before God for all the EVIL they have done and that put other people though while they were alive.... that is exactly what the Bible says!
    Even Jesus Himself said that very few will make it through the narrow gate and narcissists are no exception this what Jesus had said.....

      Something to remember is that where there is true repentance, there is also restitution. Paul talks about godly sorrow in second Corinthians 7:10-11. Godly sorrow does everything it can to prove they are no longer the same person. And generally that means a lot more than just saying I’m sorry. Of course it depends on, the sins that were committed. God has had me walk through some radical restitution.
      It is good, and it is right and this helps prove to the offended parties that you have changed.
      Leviticus and Deuteronomy give God’s instructions on how to walk out restitution.
      We are not meant for there to be no repercussions for our actions… This actually will breed narcissism.
      Sin is costly, it harms, others, our self, and Jesus on the cross. It is much better to pay for our sins here on earth, then to pay for them, eternally in hell.

    Saul's name was not changed to Paul, his Greek name was Saul but his Hebrew name was Paul. He thought he was doing God a favor and was humbled by God by being blinded by God. Then when He became born again he lost that arrogance and called himself the "chiefest of sinners" after Christ changed Him into a new creation.

    I don't think Paul was a narcissist. I believe he truly believed that what he was doing was the right thing and the followers of Christ were the enemy of the LORD. God sees the heart and intend behind actions. Stoning and killing Christian was allowed according to the Law at the time. Same Law they used to find blame in Jesus and crucify him. I have listened to you before and have some real concern in your messages. There are times I think you perpetuate narcissistic abuse in your " biblical " teachings. I think your careful in how you say it but your great error is saying there's hope through the Bible. I think that's a huge error. God would never ask someone to remain abused with a narcissist. I would think God would help people getting abused by a narcissist already because he wouldn't want any one to be hurt and beaten down by anyone. Period. No relation to Paul Saul than to the narcissist I'm married to. .

      She never endorses remaining in abuse. I have listened to many messages. What she has done in this video is describe the radical change that is possible. Common? Absolutely not… But it is possible with God.
      In fact, much of this video is about helping the abused person to determine if there has been true repentance or not. And that is incredibly valuable information because when you’re in the narcissistic relationship, it can be very difficult to determine, since there’s generally so much manipulation.. Blessings to you, I pray you get healing and wholeness through a relationship with Jesus and that he lead you. And what to do in your own situation

    I believe that Romans 1:28-32 and 2 Tim.3:2-4 are two sets of scripture that line up with a narcissist real good. What they become permeated and saturated with after God gives them over to a base and condemned mind. And once a person becomes without understanding,conscienceless,heartless,loveless, merciless and irreconcilable...how can they repent? If you are unforgiving how can you repent? Name a real narcissist in the Bible like Pharaoh.....and the woman named Jezebel, they didn't repent. And look at Esau, scripture says he could find no opportunity to repair by repentance what he did...although he sought for it carefully with bitter tears.
