Thanks! I'm trying to get more people involved in the hobby, so hopefully this set the wheels turning in a few people still on the fence about fightsticks.
I went even more budget with my build. Instead of a Brook board, I bought a Waveshare RP2040-Zero, which cost me ~$5, soldered the wires to it and flashed GP2040-CE :D
Yeah, I was unfamiliar with which was the current blackest paint overall and had heard good things about this one, but it wasn't quite as dark as I'd hoped. Next time I'll have to try the Musou. Thanks for watching!
@HushMySweet1 If it means anything, the differences can be subtle. So much that people argue. It seems application with 3.0 is easier and better. For best results with Musou, you'll need to prime the stick, airbrush 4 coats and all sorts. I've read it can flake, peel, and even melt (lol) materials. Musou is a silly price but it'd probably balance out due to US shipping. I'm just regurgitating what I've found online. Either sound like horrible stuff to work with lol. Most likely the blackest stick ever though, so good stuff.
It came with this case, but I've ordered smaller pieces from Amazon and cut before myself. Look into SimbaLux Acrylic Sheet Clear Cast Plexiglass 12” x 12” on Amazon (there might be better suited sizes than that). Good luck.
@@HushMySweet1 see. I'm in the process of building my first stick, and I purchased a jewelry box with plexiglass as a case. If you were in my shoes....How would you go about adding artwork?
@@Breeze06 I would have to see a picture of the box. You got an additional piece of plexi you're going to lay on top, yes? So I'd just secure it firmly, lay on a paper template I like, drill a pilot hole (dead center in each area which will need a hole) right through the plexi and into the box, take it off, drill each of those components separately. Buttons will keep the plexi down, but if it's a rough cut and it's not inlaid, you may need to bevel the edges so you don't hurt your palm. Also, depending on the surface area, you may want to add additional screws to keep it locked down, but I would countersink those so you don't drag your hand across rough tops jutting up. Then just get your artwork (there is another vid on this channel about making/commissioning/printing artwork), lay it between the surfaces, pop in your buttons, and screws, profit. Good luck with the build.
@@HushMySweet1Took your advice, and I now have the artwork I wanted. I purchased the Brook Fighting Board cable as well as the Brook XB Board. Please help me with the wiring.
@@Breeze06 What do you need help with? Watch my video on building your own hitbox. There is a section on wiring there and 90% of it is the same as what you'll need to do here. Start with that.
I used Crown 202s. These ones have a smoke housing and clear inserts (so I could put art in) and the stock switches were subbed out for cherry MX navy versions. You can't buy them as I have them here, BUT you can make your own version. Online suppliers like Focus Attack, Arcade Shock, and Paradise Arcade all sell Crown 202s.
I have some crazy enclosure ideas that I've 3d modeled only Id like to print them in the "Ballistic Lucite-polymethyl methacrylate" plexiglass with rubber enamel combination you mentioned in another video. Is there a service you recommend or will my google -fu do the trick?
Hmmm...I don't know much about 3d printing or how printing with that material would even work. I got mine from a guy (on Twitter, he goes by jimmybagelson) who sources big slabs of it and then cuts them down to fightstick size. He did a really wild Soul Edge build recently too. Anyway, if your Google skills don't turn up anything, you could pick his brain. But! This might be a question better asked to 3d printing subreddits. There might be some equivalent strength/weight printing material that would work well for your purpose. Good luck with your project!
It depends on the enclosure, but for most common models, yes, you can grab one for around $16 on Focus Attack. If it's a custom case, then you'll likely need to cut and drill a piece yourself. Good luck!
You can look at neighboring places or maybe you'll need to be the one to start them up. Where there's a will, there's a way, and chances are you can find like-minded people who would also be interested. We had to try out several venues and organize through facebook initially. Good luck!

A piece of acrylic. A lot of enclosures come with them, but you can check Focus Attack for a specific variant. It's a complete custom job, you can order some on Amazon and cut yourself. Good luck!
Yeah, but there a few cheaper options. You can repurpose existing items to make a case. Or, if you want something ready to go, then it you could look into 3d-printed options (I'll have a video on that sometime in the future), or you can ask reddit user theotherside1 to cut a DIY case. He has pretty cheap options (or did a month or two ago when I checked in on him).
@@HushMySweet1 Thank you very much for all your help, couldn't find u/theotherside1 either, I'm checking the mid tier by eternal rival even though I'm not gonna lie what I loved was the affordability and the aesthetics of the case you've shown, repurposing a briefcase, a plastic container or a shoebox is not in my options, I do have a qanba drone that I can continue using fortunately meanwhile I save for a case and more parts (most likely I'll be using the buttons the drone has, I really want to try a k-lever like a crown-303mj)
It depends on the PCB you put inside it. The one in this video would not work on the PS5 without a Wingman adapter or something. But, you can sub out the Brook Zero board for an advanced breakout board with a passthrough and then use a MagicBoots v1.1 dongle. That combination is around $50 and allows for PS5 fighting game compatibility. Good luck! sgfdevices.com/products/sgf-gp2040-ce-advanced-breakout-board-pe
