Traxxas has released a MAJOR update to their Stampede 4x4. Now comes 2S brushless standard as well as some updated and upgraded parts. Let's take a look at this RC monster truck from Traxxas and take it for a drive!
#traxxas #traxxasstampede - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
This power system isn’t intended to replace the VXL. It’s to replace the brushed system which it is leaps and bounds ahead of. This is a beefy truck with semi low power, it’ll last and be fun
i like mine alot yeah the electronics aren't the best but its better then brushed.i have already ran about 10 packs in the backyard/bash spots i got a smile on my face, its def my leave in the truck rc.
if the slash i bought had a brushless system when i first got into the hobby i probably would have kept it.
thanks for the reviews!
cool rc and review,awesome run
Great job as always. It's so easy to listen to your honest commentary. Personally I only have 2s and 3s RC's. I have never had the opportunity to drive anything above 3s but for me I can hardly stand to run 2s because it's just not enough power for really having fun off jumps. You made it look good because you are a very skilled driver. 👍
Nice over view of the truck and run at the end. Always enjoy your videos. I will agree with others it’s a bit pricy for what it is. However, I do really like this truck. I like the upgraded plastic parts with their extreme duty parts I find they do hold out well. I’m thinking of getting one of these to bash around in the yard with during our long winters ☃️🇨🇦. It’s got the extreme duty parts for cold weather bashing and I won’t feel too bad about getting the truck full of snow compared to one of my 1/8 rigs 😂. The 2S system probably is plenty for my smaller yard also, my 3S rustler is over kill. Later I might throw my 3s system from my rustler 4x4 in it and sell the rustler as a roller I’m not sure or upgrade the rustlers system and keep both.
Interesting! Glad to see the improvement. I guess gear it up and see if it can take it 👍
For sure, 13t installed...
He totally forgot the reason for this release....for those new to RC!!! And for that purpose, it is over the Moon!!!
Traxxas is a shit company if you support them you don't care about the RC community.
@@Cynocehaliyou're trash
Great beast💪👌😉
Tell you what, I got into RC a few years ago (during the pandemic, like many others) and my first car was a brushed Rustler 4x4. These 2S brushless re-releases are really cool for new folks, particularly with the EHD upgrades. The most common breakages I had once upgrading to the VXL-3S were hubs, arms, shock towers, and driveshafts and it seems like they are the central focus of the upgrades. If I had just gone with these things out of the gate (granted they didn't exist yet) I would have spent a lot less money replacing parts.
So overall it's pretty cool. Nice review Razor!
my first car was a Stampede 4x4 VXL, so I was really keen on getting this!
GUN TO HEAD : THIS OR GRANITE BRUSHLESS ?@@RazorRC
Sell it and buy an Arrma. Traxxas is lame
@@BOOSTEDLASERI love the granite 3s because I have one but the only problem is when jumping and landing the fans on the ECU stop working PS I Love the granite and the stampede VXL but I think the new one should have came out with the VXL and it might even be better than Hoss
I HAVE NEVER BROKEN ANYTHING IN 20+ YEARS...BUT I DONT JUMP.I DONT FIND IT FUN
maaan, if they would have stuck the HOSS with a max 2S ESC, mine "might" still be alive today. great overview as always.
Traxxas tough to be long lasting pretty fast and fun, not intended for the same buyer as the 3S granite more intended for the brushed four-wheel-drive buyer/first real rc.
When you compare it to the boost series crushes those because of the hoss drive train.
I'm really excited about the two wheel version of this truck and I'm going to buy one and that's gonna be the truck I'll lend to people, not too fast not too expensive and tough
I work in a rock pit and in less than a half pack I brought the truck back to check temps and rocks and sand made it into the motor and bound it up went home knocked them out as the bl2s motor is unserviceable and taped up the holes and added a fan to it no issues since
My first rc in 2010 was a stampede and it hooked me good, about 50 rtr and dozens of kits and thousands of dollars later I'm still looking for the ultimate RC!?
I'm with you buddy. I'm at 37 now. Mostly traxxas
So far its not a replacement for the 4x4 vxl but rather the 4x4 brushed version. But i think the 4x4 vxl will be treated with the same body and HD suspensions parts in the future.
The 4x4 brushed was alwys extremely underpowered and pushing the 12turn Titan motor way over its limit , resulting in cooked motors pretty fast.
Yeah, it really is just a slightly better brushed Stampede 4x4, but at $330 it's competing with the big boys (Granite BLX, Rival MT10) and is way out of its league in the electronics department.
They already have the Hoss, so I doubt they’d make a second brushless 3s monster truck with this chassis and body design. That would just be cannibalizing their own product. It is a much better 2s 4x4 than the old brushed models though. They used to retail for $350 if I remember correctly, and that was way more than they were worth. This new system is almost the same price with better performance.
@@RazorRC Arram is one of worst r/cs on the market. cheap easy to break. screwed up electronics. the only one good thing about arram it explodes really easy. the other thing about arram is it need to get of the market. worse thing ever. let the true die hards rule the market TraxxasLosi Hpi and Associated. get rid of all these no name junk pile out of the market.
yea basically they overbuilt the chassis compared to the old model and underpowered it, then sold it. @@falcondragonslayer
@@Justin-lc8wk They didn’t overbuild the chassis. All they did was take the chassis from the Hoss, removed its wheelie bar, replaced the aluminum driveshaft with composite, changed the color scheme of the body, put the extreme heavy duty upgrade kit on, and replaced the 3S, high-torque system with a 2S brushless system. I mean, once I typed it out, it seems like a lot of changes, but it reallly isn’t. And what they did change isn’t even an improvement to the design (apart from the extreme heavy duty upgrade kit). It really shouldn’t be this expensive. $250 max.
Cool
Any advice on inexpensive shock upgrades? I know there are some generic brand on Amazon and Ebay, all aluminum. I got a set for my losi scbe a couple years ago and they're pretty good. Better than stock, but some minor consistency issues. And really inexpensive. As opposed to Proline, which is like $75 for only a pair.
Nice passt das neue Chassis in den alten V1 Stampede.
Congratulations on getting the scoop on everyone. It looks like another solid vehicle from Traxxas.
thanks, it's a solid car, just needs some better electronics.
@@RazorRC Traxxas just being Traxxas and staying true to there underwhelming electronics reputation
@@RazorRCliterally just like any other rtr rc
Now they need to go ahead and give the hoss aluminum color matched GT shocks, HD kit (color matched) and the 2080r grey metal gear servo. Basically mini maxx it.
Ive got vxl's. These are great if you dont have the space for a vxl run
Center driveshaft is plastic just like the old brushed Stampede, the old brushed Stampede also had fixed camber links.
Lol 😆 thats a nice new Hoss i mean Stampede 4x4
Truck looks awesome! But doesn’t have the speed to backup those awesome looks… need a vxl version or at least a little more power.
definitely needs a VXL version. I guess that's the Hoss, at $100 more.
Great review. I agree it’s too slow. I think traxxas said the main reason for the change to brushless was to increase run time, not performance. They want to keep it slow so you will spend money and buy a vxl 3s combo.
Which no one with brain ever does
I like the HD parts but the 2S BL system seems underwhelming for this truck. For the Slash it looks okay but this needs more.
yeah I don't quite understand why they did the R&D on a brand new 2S brushless system and then... made it super slow.
I think it’s under-geared out of the box. Mark Santa Maria reviewed the system and said you could easily gear it up several teeth on the pinion without having to worry about overheating.
Despite you all hating the new Stampede name and thinking it should be a Hoss BL-2S, I think the name 🤟HOSS 🤟 has foreshadowed the Stampede 4x4. And I like the Stampede name WAY better for 2 reasons.
1. It has a the same exact chassis but it has been changed and remodeled.
2. The layout is exactly the same as the older version.
So that might be the reason why I like to call it a Stampede rather than the Hoss.
I’ll wait for an “ultimate” version with vxl and HD parts.
An "ultimate" version is just a "hoss" with a bunch of aluminum parts from ebay.
I think traxxas did a good job of revamping the stamped. Its a lower price option for beginners and kids.
except that it's $330!
@RazorRC I agree my lhs sales the Arrma 3s line up @ $300 I was very disappointed with the new so called brushless. Awesome upgrades on parts and drive train but you need a Hobbywing combo or Castle ASAP for true fun .
Why would they put stronger parts on this than the Hoss?
the magic of that electronic combo is that you can gear it up much more than a 3s or brushed 2s
The new Stampede looks a bit better than the old one, I do not think that I will go out of my way to acquire a vehicle with that BL-2S setup.
it's the best in the lineup (except for the electronics, the slipper, and the centershaft)
This guy is focusing too much on what he thinks the truck should be and not on what it is. A replacement for the old Stampede 4x4 brushed version. It was a weird play by Traxxas to cannibalize their own product by making a Stampede 4x4 using the Hoss, but I own a Hoss, and it’s a fun truck, so this new vehicle should be good for beginners. It should have been called ‘Hoss 4x4 brushless’ though.
It’s a little expensive for a 2s brushless truck, which I think is mainly due to the fact that it has the Extreme HD upgrade kit, all the parts for which are more expensive than the regular ones. It’s definitely a better deal than the old brushed 4x4’s, which were $350 if I remember correctly.
Performance wise, it does look like it would benefit from more speed. Mark Santa Maria has reviewed this system, and said that it runs cool enough that you can easily gear it up several teeth, so you should maybe do that and see how the system handles it.
What it is, is the slowest brushless 1/10 RC car on the market today at the same price as the competitor’s 3S cars that go 50mph out of the box. If that’s what Traxxas was going for, they succeeded.
@@RazorRC Sure, it’s the slowest brushless 1/10 scale on the market. So what? I don’t think Traxxas intended it to be a competitor to the Granite. The BL-2S system is clearly meant to replace the XL-5 brushed system. A.K.A: an affordable brushless system for beginners that doesn’t have the drawbacks of a brushed system. And, as I’ve said, which you skated over, was the fact that the system is probably able to handle higher gearing than the stock ones.
@@falcondragonslayer slowest brushless system is not a big deal when the car costs the same as other 3S cars? really? tell that to the kid who buys this when his friends buy a Rival MT10 or Granite 3S and blows his Stampede out of the water for the same price. I didn't discuss gearing earlier, because I had no idea whether you can gear it up, and neither do you since no-one has actually geared it up. Having said that, I just tried it. Obviously it's faster, and generates more heat, but you can tell the power is still way down compared to everything else.
🐢power
BABY HOSS 😂😂
they are the rustler 4x4 vxl optional sledgehammers
first sledgehammers were for the rustler vxl 4x4. then the hoss come out with them then they made a maxx v2 with them and they just started throwing them onto everything… kinda sad ngl bc i paid 80 bucks total for the four tires for the rustler just for them to become a stock part lol
They aren’t stock on the Rustler, they still have talon exts.
@@willcultra3268 i said * optional *
Looks like a brushless system that goes right in the garbage when it comes time to upgrade...not worth saving for some future project. Only upside, perhaps it will outlast the brushed motors in the previous entry-level version if you have a child that runs this frequently. Anyone else would get bored of the setup pretty quickly. At this price point I would take a Granite 3S BLX or Rival MT10. Maybe you can salvage it if it can take more gearing or perhaps a 3S ESC. Chassis with the HD components looks good though.
yeah, the chassis and overall platform is great, it just needs halfway decent electronics and shocks that aren't from 1996. or it needs to be $50-80 cheaper.
old stampede has shock guards still😂
id just throw me a 3s esc in it and call it a day lol motor either takes it or it can cook
Подскажите, стоит ли TSM система?
the old vxl is better from factory. but the new one could be good with a ez run hobby wing max 10 setup
Damn Traxxas. They should have released this instead of the Hoss?
Seems like the Hoss is the 3S version of this truck.
@@RazorRCNo, it seems like this is the 2s version of the Hoss
@@falcondragonslayer what’s the difference? Usually you release the basic version first and the upgraded version later. They did it backwards for some reason (probably because I said in my Hoss review that they should have just released it as the updated Stampede, rather than an “all new” truck).
@@RazorRCThis thing has a slipper clutch or center diff??
Can i get this clipless body cage for my stampede 4x4 vxl?
I doubt it, the chassis is much shorter on the VXL.
I think it's long over due that Traxxas starts giving us some new radios so sick of that boring radio it comes with
As a Hoss owner, the new Stampede annoys me…
well, you got a far better radio, ESC and motor!
I agree. I own a Hoss, and the new Stampede is just a rip-off of its design. They should have named it ‘Hoss 4X4 Brushless’
i scoured the comments before i mentioned it myself. HAHA!
Absolutely not worth $330 USD. Not when the Rival MT10 and Granite 3S exist. BL-2S lineup is definitely a disappointment. Should have been $280 maximum. Good trucks, I still want one, probably the Rustler, but $330 is quite excessive for what you get
Agreed, and not even 3s. Pretty obsurd for its price.
they should have priced this at about $250-299 at most
@@RazorRC I'm with you. $330 is a bit excessive for what it is imo
Completely agree with you. I have an old nitro stampede from the late 90’s. I’ve owned almost exclusively traxxas over the years because of availability, reliability, and their parts support is second to none. I recently got back into the hobby when I realized how far electric cars had come. I’m new to Arrma products and my first 2 were the Gorgon, which I love because it takes me back to the old 2wd trucks of the 80’s when I was a kid. It’s durable, and fun as hell! My second, which I bought a week later, 😂 was the granite 3s 4x4 which blows the doors off this thing for the same price. I love all my traxxas RC cars and always will. But you can’t deny that at least lately, you definitely get more bang for your buck with Arrma.
@@user-hg9sj9wz5v absolutely! Traxxas is still great though, of course. It's just this release is quite overpriced 👍😅
The 2075 is not an entry level servo. It is used mostly in the VXLs. The 2056 is typically the entry level servo as it comes with most XL5s.
It’s plastic and has 125 oz/in of torque and speed in the 0.17s range. That is worse than every other company that makes 1/10 RC cars.
@@RazorRC Doesn't change the fact that the 2056 is actually the entry level servo. The 2075 is also digital, unlike the 2056. And while it may not be great, I've never had a problem with the 2075 personally.
@truerc doesn't matter what role it fits in the traxxas ecosystem. Overall the 2075 would count as mediocre at best entry lever servo, period!
@@AsurasWrath164 Regardless, the video is incorrect. It is not Traxxas' entry level servo.
@@truerc you are incorrect. You call the 2075 “not an entry level servo”. As stated, yes it is. It may not be Traxxas’ lowest end servo, but it is certainly an entry-level servo. Actually, below entry-level at this point.
Best starter is Stampede 4x4 kit.
That's all.
Which you can’t get anymore.
This is superior to the old brushed Stampede
I really don't see the appeal behind these new BL-2s systems. These don't go much faster than the older brushed systems. You can't even hook up a different speed controller to the motor because of the quick-connect system, which I see really as more of an attempt to make the system only work with it's complementary electronics rather than allow for ease of use. Nobody frequently disconnects their motor wires to the point where it needed to be reinvented. And these are expensive. Trucks at this price point are running on 3s. The brushed 12T may have been underpowered for many of the 4x4 beginner models, but $330 is asking too much. It's effectively a 2s-only hoss, which is somehow still overpriced. You could gear it up by a good amount considering it's conservative stock gearing and all the venting, but it's not hitting 50 like the competition is.
Gorgon with 2s and us likely still under the 329$ msrp of the hosspede
you're not wrong
doesn't look any more powerful than my XL5 Stampede 4x4 Kit with it's stock components, gearing and a 2S Lipo was. At that pricetag it's a little disappointing tbh. I'm sure it's not a bad truck but i would have expected a bit more :/
right?
Thing is, it’s a brushless motor that is, I think, undergeared out of the box, and able to handle higher gearing than a brushed motor
Way more durable than the old Stampede
@@truerc that’s true.
No that chassis is taken from the rustler
Might want to take a closer look at the Rustler chassis!
@@RazorRC yeah, why don't you do that Jr.
Traxxas should've put the BL-2S system in their 2WD lineup to replace the XL-5 and kept the price the same, now that would've shaken up the industry. Instead they took the greedy way out, $330 for a 2S 4x4 is way too slow and expensive.
for sure, this truck at $299 would be fine
Gorgon is still better. Just get 3 and tape em together.
So its just a "budget hoss".
basically...
Arrma still are crushing the comp
The stampede has been around forever. One of traxxas’s oldest models. But this really disappoints me. It just looks like a Hoss. Come on traxxas. It’s time for some new original designs. Constantly trying to reinvent the same old models gets a little boring. I love traxxas and have owned mostly traxxas my entire RC hobby life. Mostly nitro back in the day. But recently I have gotten into the electric cars. But at least other companies like Arrma are coming out with new fresh cars and trucks like the Gorgon. Let’s go traxxas give us something new and original already! 😂😂
if this had come out first 4 years ago, I think it would have been fine as a Stampede v2. but coming out after the Hoss and with the removal of the VXL from the lineup, it's kinda like... huh?
@@RazorRC yes I agree. And it also seems like traxxas dropped this BL 2s lineup to compete with the Arrma boost lineup. But in my humble opinion, the boost lineup is a better cheap beginner type lineup. Starting out the hobby with an inexpensive 2wd RC is a great way to start and learn the hobby. $329 for a 4wd brushless RC that only goes 30mph seems kinda pointless. At least the Arrma boost lineup are only $199. At least at my LHS they are. Thats a huge price difference. That price point will draw a lot more new people to the hobby I think. Again, just my humble opinions for someone who’s been on and off in the RC hobby almost 40 years now.
This isnt all new. Its a slower hoss. Thags all.
Its a cheater motor, not a 3650, but a 3640 or sorter. Just so people cant stand this truck stock and can be milked for combo setup
thanks for the info, looks small, I think it's got a plastic shroud on the end to make it look bigger
With more than likely something other than a Traxxas system. Traxxas needs to get honest, they sux at business
Meh
Traxxas is a mediocre at best company who likes to steal innovations while simultaneously patenting what others invented. So far, Traxxas has sued Losi, Hobbico, HPI, Redcat, ARRMA, Maclan, Skulldugery, and probably more. This bully known as Traxxas has patented designs that they not only didn't invent, but have been used for years in the industry. The worst part? While Traxxas was suing for simple things like rubber o rings, double servos, or lay down shocks, Traxxas was stealing things like complete car design by TheJang's Chimera A (including the color scheme) and relabeling it a Telluride. Traxxas is a Texas lawyer with some cheap plastic products to sell you in order to kill the market with RTR's like they did HPI. They REALLY put the ASS in TraxxASS
Arrma Gorgon looks better than this. At least it is 3s capable.
Not out of the box it isn't. The brushed esc will only run on 7 cell nimh and 2s.
Honestly, you really need to be a big Traxxas fanboy, to choose this over a Granite 3S. Same price, with twice the speed and power with matching durability (mine has been through hell and broke only minor parts). For your money, this just isnt there. Bigtime pass.
oor maybe your lhs doesnt support arrma and you want to get parts localy.
Orrr you make enough money and don’t give a fuck 😂
Where is the cool lower shock guards that used to come on the old stampede 4x4🤔
I already have an Xmax and want to get my 7 year old this. Don't really care about it costing more.
Man I had bad luck with the Arrma 3s lineup
The hd parts arent new. You honestly dont have an idea what youre talking about and youre just wasting peoples times
Sounds terrible
Traxxas is a scum company. Even tomley RC agrees. I'll never support such a spiteful company. This hobby would be larger if it wasn't for TrASSas
