71 year old BTS Army here. This track is totally late 70s, early 80's Retro disco funk and was announced as a subtle homage to MJ. This is his third mega hit after "Seven Feat Latto" and "3D Feat Jack Harlow". All are from his first solo album "GOLDEN" and just so you know, none of JK's solo releases have anything to do with Kpop other than JK is S. Korean. All of JK's solo releases including his just released album "Golden" are all in English. There are no S. Korean songwriters, producers, recording studios or MV shooting directors or locations, etc. He is blowing past Kpop and jumping head first into the American pop market. He is using American Grammy Award winning songwriters, producers, recording in the U.S. and filming at mostly U.S. locations such as Universal Studios in Hollywood. This original MV track, however, is filmed at an abandoned power plant in Budapest, Hungary. The director is a very famous Ukrainian director who has directed for Harry Styles and many others. The Official Usher remix Performance Video of "Standing Next to You" is filmed in L.A. and I highly recommend you react to it.
His self professed dream of being a giant pop star has clearly took off in a big way. BTW, there are now at least 3 live performances. iHeart Radio, Jimmy Fallon Show, The Today Show, and there is a KILLER Official Choreo Version. He recently performed 5 songs at the TSX stage in Times Square, NYC. Only the third artist to ever been invited to perform there besides Post Malone and PDiddy.
The Usher Remix Performance Video of this song is ICONIC and a dream come true for JK. JK's solo achievements are the biggest of the BTS group.
ALL of BTS members are in the military now for 18 months as of Dec.12 including Jung Kook. They will reunite as BTS in 2025.
JK's solo album "Golden" is over to 2 billion streams now since Nov. 2. FYI, the American team of Grammy winner Andrew Watt and Cirkut wrote and produced this song and it was recorded in Watt's studio in L.A. They also wrote and produced his first mega hit "SEVEN Feat Latto".
His solo album "Golden" is over 2 billion streams since it dropped on Nov. 2nd. Credited on his album besides Andrew Watt, John Bellion, and Canadian Cirkut is Shawn Mendes for "Hate You" and Ed Sheeran for "Yes or No". Ed Sheeran also plays guitar on the track. There are several other notable collabs on the album.

Thanks for your reaction, I learned more again… JK told us in one of his Lives that we should hear this song not with headphones but better usual, like you did. The producers watt&cirkut made this directly with JK after producing Seven, because they were so amazed from JKs voice and talent to get the best experience from a song! And from my opinion this song is so amazing, of course a bit MJ but who wasn’t influenced by his music? First of all it’s a song you love to listen to and which is not getting boring after listening a lot of times…

It's is in all English and he practiced hard to get the English pronunciation correct. Our JK also has perfect pitch! This song is a slight homage to MJ. Just a little clarification, military service is only mandatory for able bodied men in South Korea and yes that includes male celebrities. For women in South Korea they can enlist but it's not mandatory. All 7 members of BTS have enlisted already. 2 members (Jin and J-Hope) will be discharged this year and the other 5 members (RM, Jimin, V, Suga, and Jungkook) will be discharged in 2025. They also renewed their contracts recently so yes they do have the intention of coming back together as a group after their service is complete which is around June 2025. BTS even released a surprise song called Take Two in honor of their 10th anniversary as a group back in June. Also all the members of BTS released their own solo albums before enlisting except Jin whose album will probably come out after he is discharged (I did see you reacted to his song the Astronaut by Jin which he released before he enlisted).

He is the golden maknae meaning golden youngest because seemed like he can do everything. Dance sing, rap paint/ draw. Play intruments, sports , he can compose and produce. Forestella. Their covers of Thriller, Bad Romance, and Bohemian Rhapsody are stellar. Their original song "Utopia" is a rock ballad. "Snow Globe" is full of creative use of music - a bit dark but wonderful. 4 unique voices. S Korean crossover group. 2 classically trained (base and tenor). 1 stars in musicals (baritone/tenor). And an astounding counter-tenor (who was a chemical engineer but now his rock band is growing in popularity - "Pitta".)

Yes I love my BTS boys - I love they each have solo work before joining the military. V with his soulful R&B sound. JungKook with his Pop. Jimin with his unique voice. The 3 rappers doing diametrically different types of rap. And Jin with his voice made for ballads.
But I also appreciate Forestella for their unique talents. And Yes. They too have solo work.
