I was born and raised in Santa Cruz. It has a very good climate, similar to northern Italy. I was a graduate of UCSC. Beautiful and eccentric.. but now pedestrian and known for bigotry. Very good restraunts. The beaches are wonderful early in the morning. I loved living with the shore on one side and the redwood forests and mountains on the other. I could walk 1 mile to the west and be on the beach of white sand stretching for miles, or 1 mile the to the east and be in the national forest.
I love Santa Cruz SO much!!! But this video has shown me parts I've never seen before! I'll be sure to check out those amazing restaurants this summer! xXx
The thought that life in SC centers around the beach is biased, but I'm impressed that the guide brought up Avanti - that is an excellent place that a lot of visitors probably don't know about. For those who don't like SC, you don't need to knock it - there are countless other places to be and I hope you find the one for you, but for those of us who love it, there's just no substitute. Yeah, it's hard to get by financially, but the whole area is so beautiful inside and out, it's 100% worth it!
I lived in SC for ten years... the only thing that they get drenched with there is fog, year round... all summer long. Life in Santa Cruz, contrary to popular opinion, does not center around the beach... it centers around busting ones rear to be able to afford to live there. Few people have time to enjoy the precious beach, they are too busy. Glad I left.
I lived in Aptos for 28 years. I now live in a city in the northwest where a beautiful home with land and a view can be built for under $200,000 total, so there is money left over to travel the world. It's difficult to save that kind of money in Santa Cruz unless you have a very good income. I can always drive down and stay in Carmel for a few weeks every year and not touch much of my savings for other travel.
luvvvv the catalyst theressomething about it a classic vibe night scene...
Santa Cruz is the reason for coming back to the US. I missed it so much. I want my daughter to grow up here.
Oh... I love my city.
