I like to think that Sligs are basically a private/standard military force for the Magog Cartel, being enlisted as guards for smaller businesses like Rupture Farms, Necrum and the Brewery, while Wolvarks are for more important jobs, elite specialists for bigger and powerful areas, there could even be royal variants we haven’t seen yet, whom are Lady Margret’s royal guards in Nolybab. I have a feeling in the next game, we’ll get to see them in their full glory. In fact, a Royal Wolvark guard would be a good concept idea.
I think the biggest difference is that Sligs are essentially slave soldiers whilst the Wolvaeks seems to be mercenaries that aren’t easy to suppress into a slave caste
Fun fact: You can set Fuzzle traps against Sleg Handlers in the original Stranger's Wrath game but you can't set Fuzzle traps for Slog Handlers in Stranger's Wrath HD.
It would be great that in some future a complete Oddworld Bestiary is released, detailing every peculiarity of its geography and its unusual inhabitants ... Maybe as a kind of evolutionary tree or something like that ... well although you and others have achieved an excellent job with these audio visual files of this iconic saga! Thank you!
The peices that stick out of their guns that make a pickaxe shape are more than likely a stabilizer peice kinda like with crossbows besides being the release also help stabilize awkward parts and sometimes help with aim by helping keep a straight aim.
It'd be interesting to see more of the Wolvarks in future Oddworld games and media. They definitely seem to be quite a formidable force and it might be fun to see Abe face them in the future.
Would have been good if they had put the wolvarks into soulstorm. I'm guessing they either didn't want to have to program a tonne of new enemy types for just the final area. As there were quite a few other enemy types planned that got scrapped. Or maybe they didn't want to put them in as.would take away from the way more popular sligs enemies. As way more fans have played only the main games and not strangers wrath.
Imagine seeing the Wolvarks being elite mooks in comparison to the Sligs. The reason why Sligs are more commonly used by Magog Cartel is that the Wolvarks are mercenaries who have a tendency to be selective in who they serve meaning only the richest of Glukkons can afford to hire large numbers of. Imagine having Wolvarks being smarter than Sligs being represented by having problem solving skills and can detect a possession if the possessed doesn't act properly
Something that crossed my mind is that especially in the concept art of the Wolvarks to me with their heads look similar to toads, why I bring this up is that the Natives always made me think of frogs in general. Anyway another **odd** fact is that a certain species of toad that I don't remember the name is very invasive if I recall correctly, the Wolvarks themselves are invading the natives homeland and taking over themselves so I thought of that as a potential parallel.
That'd be a really interesting connection. I wouldn't put it passed Oddworld Inhabitants to have done that deliberately. (Like with the dog/cat parallel in Fangus Klott.)
Its funny playing around with them in Gmod, same with the airships and other unused AI. I didn't know the airships and cannons had attack functions and could assault the player, but in game they're just scripted to drop off enemies at a certain spot or fire at something specific that isn't the player probably because it made the game too difficult.
Cool vid! Personally I think the Olden Steef was taken by Sekto himself maybe catching the Steef off guard while swimming in the peaceful river. WOW good catch with the phone being for vykker's fingers I also love their name. Very cool compared to Internz, Outlawz, or Grubbs! Also glad you mentioned the soulstorm wolvark but I had no idea about that concept art! awesome!
I thought since most of the characters that call the glukkons in soulstorm sound like Sligs, that the one calling brewmaster was a big bro Slig. It would actually make a lot of sense, given that the big bros we’ve seen so far work with vykkers labs, it would be fair to assume Brewmaster, another scientist making products for Mudokons to consume, would also have a few big bros working for him. Plus, it would be good foreshadowing for when/if the vykkers/vykkers labs and thier lackeys show up as the main antagonists is the third quintology part.
the legacy of jinh-roh kerberos panzer corps strike again : afeter Helgasts in Killzone and Yorha combat uniform in Nier Automata and the new Spartan helmet in Halo, Wolvarks join it XD
I knew it! I knew that was a wolvark talking to the brewmaster. But to find out that they were gonna be the final enemies of the game is sweet. I guess they had to change it to sligs for the good ending to work.
Huh, I always thought the guy who contacted Brewmaster about the rumours was a Chronicler and that talk about "surpressing rumours" was like Chroniclers also having a job of manipulating media. Now that i think about it again is an interesting thought.
Arrow and a chain, the arrow or sword normally means you’re battle ready, willing to fight or of course anything war based, which as a private military company I would assume they would have to be, and the chain I assume is either strong/unbreakable service or bondage to war.

I always thought that Wolvarks were more evolved Outlaws, or in any case there is a kinship in my opinion, it would explain why they kicked them out of the industrial world, the fact that they are less strong than Wolvarks and why they are so similar (example: the voice is the same ). Wolvarks like to kill, the thing you pointed out on SoulStorm is very short, because if I'm not mistaken, Bennie Terry said in a livestream a few days ago, Stranger was supposed to be part of SoulStorm ... By the way, when you do the next video theory? I miss bothering you with long comments, my friend.

When you said "Redneck" about the Wolvarks, I think you are thinking of hicks, not rednecks.
