Back when I got into photography, I couldn’t afford very much. My first L lens. for 17 to 40 amazing I won more awards with this lens Than any lens that I have now and I have A lot of lenses some that are $8000 RF system but I still love this little ones it’s the best 1740 still worth keeping and still worth buying in my opinion I will never give it up

The Canon EF 17-40L f4 is not a very good lens, and in fact it was not good even when it came out. This lens is the least "L" that Canon makes. This is because wide open, its soft, very soft, and it is a CA magnet too. Its corners are not good even when stopped down past f5.6. For 2024, there are far better lenses, and the RF 16-35 f4 (or was it 16-35?) blows it away. But if one lacks funds, the EF 16-35 f4 is far better, and you can find them used for a song.
