Steel core strings is more of a metallic and powerful sound.
While synthetic strings is more clearer and a bit warmer.

That's a good way to describe it!

I find that steel strings are more dynamic, while synthetic or gut strings have more consistency and generally has more depth, which I prefer

The fiddle i ordered from Royce Burt had Hellicore strings. I swapped them out for Tonicas and what a difference! Much deeper and MUCH more rich!

Re. Strings...I began playing on a wood-frame electric that had steel strings and continue with such. It has sufficient volume to be playable in apartment living without disturbing neighbors. A plus factor. I was encouraged to use steel as much easier for novice/beginners to effect a desirable sound and more forgiving. The Amati that I ordered from Fiddlershop has synthetic core strings and though it was a huge change I am now almost as comfortable with the AMO strings as the steel and honestly, cannot imagine the acoustic Amati with anything other than synthetic core strung on it. I'm unsure of what I'll replace them with when the time comes but leaning toward the Fiddlerman synth strings as I've seen a very good video review by a teacher who uses and likes them. Different strings have different applications but your demo of Fman steel vs. synth core shows very good albeit different sound from both. Thank you for doing this video. It solidified my thoughts re replacements. Have a happy Friday and weekend. 😊

I prefer synthetic. They don't have that metallic, high-pitched screeching sound.
