@@bot2955 Probably because they know singing is not their strongest suit. So, they just don't try. It's easier to get away with poor skills, if you look like you didn't even try. Because then it's like what this vocal coach says "I want to see them really try".

Here's the thing. All of their vocals are improving, getting better but Yunjin's vocals are getting worse for some reason. What's happening?
@@lillydrake2053 No not really. Yunjin had the worst vocals there, the most pitch issues. You definitely didn't watch the full thing lmao.
I feel like they do the hand to the ear move on purpose now because they know that their fans are gonna say “see? they can’t hear themselves, that’s why they sound like that” but there are groups who do well during the encore and they’re performing under the same conditions so that definitely ain’t it. If you keep defending the low level singing because you can’t admit your faves are lacking, they’re never going to get better

during encores theres nothing going on in ur earpiece, you have to follow the music being played and u can barely hear urself

LE SSERAFIM is under Source Music, GFRIEND's old label, and they are one of the best 3rd gen groups, vocally, but after HYBE aquired them, they've focused way more on dancing than on vocals, even tho gfriend was known for performing perfect choreography blindfolded, in 2x speed, as much as they were for their vocals

Honestly I don't know why you blame hybe, HYBE is just there to provide budget for the girls, just everything that is artistic is up to SOURCE MUSIC to give vocal lessons to its artists and moreover it's not because once they haven't sung well that they don't know how to sing live, stop pretending

After this hell of a performance, they had the audacity to accept the invite to Coachella 😅
I think they accepted way before the controversy, because in a video , they were asked how much time did they prepare their Coachella stage ,yunjin said that they had to jingle with several schedules like award shows /comebacks/Coachella. But yeah bad timing, I don't know how Coachella organisers must feel after seeing they made a bad choice.

There's a group called NMIXX that has one of the best live vocals, and they have a few of these encore stages at the same award show. They also do the choreography to the song. I suggest you to check out their Dash encore stage at the MCOUNTDOWN, they went viral because of that :)
Edit: they have stage practices, which are basically a rehearsal for live stages, where they sing and dance at the same time, I recommend the ones for 'Dash' and 'Run For Roses'

I recommend you to check NMIXX if you want vocally talented group. They sing live while dancing (jumping). But their songs are not for general ppl.

You do know that the second week you can CLEARLY hear the background music to minimize hearing their actual voice on the mic. WATCH THE FIRST WEEK. They didnt turn up the bg music at all LMAO

As far as vocals are concerned, groups like EXO, NCT, Seventeen, Ateez, Mamamoo, Shinee, iKon, SNSD etc. are killers…basically all SM artists are included bcos they do work a lot on their vocals…
Hybe I believe is more about dance & performance & the rest is done by their PR & advertising team…but honestly they should really work on their artist’s vocals…..as all the groups are hard working but being singers without vocals is really not it😂….they are getting hate & it’s not even their fault lol 🤦🏼♀️
When the Senior is Gfriend, we expect too much from the juniors. But I dont hate Le Sserafim, I will still listen to them and hope that one day they will prove all of those haters that they can do some improvement.

@@catrice1296 Personally I only count Sakuras korean training. Japanese training isn't training. They never got vocal training when she was in Japan, as stated before by others in akb and hkt. japanese idol training is fan interaction and service.

you hit the nail on the head here justin..! i completely agree - companies train their idols/artists up to debut, then they think they’re a finished product and the vocal training stops. you are the PERFECT type of person to help these kpop artists build up a strong vocal foundation, because you understand what these companies prioritize, but also you see their potential! with the right training, they can definitely do it! and yes i live in taiwan and i love your comment about the culture around respect within asia. i love it too and i think america should start doing it too

Big companies debut pretty looking idols who are not ready to perform and yet get instant unconditional fame, while so many other artists who actually put hard work into perfecting their voice struggle to get recognition.
We shouldn't say "that's ok" we shouldn't settle for mediocrity when K-pop used to be known for artists who trained until perfection in order to even start their career and now groups like Lesserafim go to world-class festivals and make people question if K-pop really is a thriving music genre or a bunch of auto tuned dancing influencers without singing skills.

pretty sure that you're not supposed to be pitchy the whole song, and usually a decent singer is only pitchy once or twice in a song. also other girl groups have had trouble hearing themselves in the past like dreamcatcher but still managed to sound good during their encore stage, so it seems like lsf just lack in vocal training. you should react to a dreamcatcher encore stage. i know you're trying to be nice to appease their fans but honest criticism is always best

7:40 unfortunately they do think they are done. They sounded equally off pitch and had huge breathing and stamina issues in their Coachella set later one of the members told their fans that this was "their best stage to date" and claimed people only thought it was bad because "they have different standards"
It's honestly disappointing to see the members refusing to accept they need to practice to improve

I think as the audience you can feel the vibes when those on stage don't "feel" comfortable to sing, it's like they know it's gonna be bad. lots of bad encore are like this. check out illit as well, you can tell from their body gestures that they weren't confident.
Encore stage are now the only stages that you can be 100% sure are live in kpop (there is no backing track or pre-recorded vocals). That is why people use it to measure the vocal talents of group. Unfortunatly Le sserafim is not the best group in this area, I think they know it and that is why they are not comfortable on stage.
You should try to listen to NMIXX Dash encore stage where the NMIXX girls sing in the same settings as the video your watching. NMIXX is one of the best group when it comes to live vocal in kpop!

It's the level of success they have and how huge the company behind them is, make lots of people felt disappointed. Also the number of years some member are in the industry. If this is a lesser known group coming from a small company, I am sure the amount of critique won't be as huge as this.

Honestly thank you for being respectful to them even when you're giving criticism. As a fan, like, I totally agree that they definitely have a long way to go vocally but the sheer amount of hate that people are just dumping on them is so blown out of proportion. If people are going to criticize them, they should really be criticizing HYBE! Talent is one thing but anyone can become proficient in anything with the right training and practice so why is it that Le Sserafim isn't getting that training and the resources they need to become better vocalists? I know Hybe isn't lacking the money, like... There's no point in hating on Le Sserafim, if you don't like it, don't listen? I feel like people are just jumping on the hate train and using it as an excuse to cyberbully them rather than actually respectfully critiquing them.
The only person with some common sense in this comment thread. He is a vocal coach with the range to dish out the constructive criticism and and they still want to argue even with him which is telling in of itself. And I agree with his take no where did he sugarcoat his opinion and gave actual constructive criticism and in the future it was some solid advice that not only HYBE and the group need to follow but all vocalists. Singing is a skill that takes training and practice and should be done frequently to keep improving your vocals. I myself am not a huge fan of the group (I have just followed Sakura since her J-idol days and izone) and the hate people are dishing out is unnecessary at the end of the day when they could just stop listening to the group. There have been many artists I dropped because they weren't growing with their music or improving their sound over time its simple. I think the group does have time to grow and perfect their craft if given the right resources and only time will tell if that happens. I wish nothing but the best for those girls going forward.
Can you do a Coachella review of Le Serrafim? Seems like they really did try for that one- you can really hear it in weekend 1 especially but sadly the performance was heavily criticised for also being very unstable and shaky. So I'd love your input!
Well you can criticize them as much as you want, the girls don't care. They think they are good and don't need anymore vocal training. What more can you say if they can't see their own problems. This is proven by Sakura's statement, which is really disappointing. While a lot of other artists are still working so hard to improve eventhough they are already really good. Let them be!

The only thing I don't understand is why you're reacting specifically to this video. As a vocal coach, you should know that singers sometimes mess up... This encore is clearly no good and you, seeing the impact it's had, jump on it without even looking to find out more. On the TV show (Mnet Countdown and pretty much any music show) itself they kinda cut off some of what they’re performing bc it’s the end of the show. They won, so that’s why a lot of artists (imo) don’t really try as hard since the show is done but they need to finish for the audience there. That’s why you keep hearing thank you thank you.
