Nice to see you put out some Tony Rice LOVE!!! I am huge fan. I went to Merlefest for 14 straight years. Luckily I got to see him before he lost his voice. He was always approachable, a true gentlemen and humble soul. He would drive his new Cadillac up to the stage, get out with his guitar on his back and walk on the stage. Tony was always mesmerizing whether it was with the Unit, Sam, Doc, Grisman, Rowan, Flux or any body else. He always shined! I miss him at every festival that I go to. There will never be another like him. Great pick!!
I was a country dj in the late 60's when the record by Flatt & Scruggs doing this came in. It wasn't the F&S I expected, I didn't understand the word "haunting." This version is good, it's also an almost note-for-note recreation of F&S. Give it a listen.
One of the all time great albums.

RIP J.D.
Man what elegance!
That’s how country boy thinks !
That was some mighty fine picking, very relaxing music. The name sounds familiar but I can’t place the group. Good stuff. Steve
The group consisted of J.D. Crowe, Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas & Bobby Slone... all stellar pickers.
On this song JD Crowe plays the guitar. No banjo
