Playing Tutelage would give you a better chance of winning. They had 30 cards, so Tutelage means you immediately mill them for 6, and then another 6 on your draw step, so they're at 18. (You have two Cacophonys in hand, so after looting with Tutelage you're still guaranteed to have something to discard to Kroxa.) Into the Story would then mill for another 18, winning you the game. But unlike the line you took, this gets you one card deeper into your deck.

This is one thing I love to do as well. When something becomes so obnoxious it can no longer be ignored, you build a deck specifically against that one card combo or ability. Set aside all preconceptions and the voice in your head telling you it will never work. And when it does work it is glorious.
"What's 6x4 anyway? 18?" Mill doesn't need math. Math is for blockers.

Hey CGB, great video as always! I'm just wondering when you'll do an update to your Narset deck from last format since you teased it last week and I'd be super excited to see an updated version of it.
We're on the same wavelength because I just made a Mono Blue Mill deck and not only is it loads of fun, but it's great against 4-Color Omnath and even Mutate decks that make you search for mana. It's like - "yes, please, do my job for me lol!" After all this time, it's still great to see you working diligently, and dedicated to what you love to do, and it's heartwarming to see the level of care, attention to detail, and honestly love you put forth in the deckbuilding, streaming, editing, and just in general. Keep it up, as we all know you will. Stay safe, and be well.

So the reasoning behind the fast plays in the first game with the starter deck is because that person just wants the daily gold asap for drafts

Oh... this is good. This was so fun to watch once you actually got to go head-to-head with Omnath, and the fact that it was 80 Omnath made it so much sweeter!
Since the season's ended, I took your deck and your recommendations about your original, Omnath-specific deck and just tore up the ranked ladder. So much fun! I lost to mono-red on a bad draw, but this baby tore through most other decks... Omnath, Adventures, Doom Fortold... decked them all.
I know it may seem repetitive to some viewers, but you've got to do your original build on the ladder. It is hilarious content to watch peeps get so tilted. Put on your headband and evil glasses and give the peoples what they want... 60 minutes of decking Omnath, haha.

I only play in Play cue. it IS fun, because you CAN scoop if you get screwed by the shuffler, or opp is playing mono red etc etc and you don't GAF!!

I do believe that Ruin Crab is actually better than Teferi's Tutelage. Which is crazy to say, because before ZNR I thought Teferi's Tutelage was already OP.
Saying this because of my experience in playing a deck featuring Protean Thaumaturge, and even with that pro-enchantment card, the deck seemed to get better when I dropped Teferi's Tutelage for Call of the Deathdweller and Lurrus of the Dream-Den as a companion instead. Of course, that may be just because the meta I faced last night in Ranked Standard (gold) was 90% trying to mill me back and feeding my graveyard.
Dang CGB has figured out the true power of those new mythic modal lands! It enables you to rig yourself a match against omnath! That finally makes sense to me 🤔
I would kind of like to see the first version.
You could exchange 8 Islands with the blue Pathways and maybe sad robot for Overflowing Insight. Even Teferi could catch some damage for you.
Honestly, I've got no problem with how the play queue matchmaking works. When I first started playing Arena, if I had to play my starter deck against meta decks every game, I wouldn't still be playing. It could probably use some refinement, but overall I like it.
But thats exactly the problem CGB had, those people with starter decks were having to fight a meta deck designed to beat the strongest deck in the format
It might be an ok thing if it would work. But f.e. it gives you more mirror matches and specific match ups. That's very bad if you want construct a deck and have fun/test it against the format. But it doesn't even work anyway so when I build an none meta fun deck it's either rogues or somewhat similar decks a lot of the time. Which is not fun either way.
Match starter vs starter and custom vs custom. Problem solved. There plenty of people playing starter whatever the time anyway.

@@patrickoconnell9387 It already sort of works like that tho, but its soft restricted. When playing starter ~70% of matches are against starter decks. Personally i came back to MTGA about 3-4 months ago. At first i was using starter decks exclusively, but when i started tweaking starter my opponent decks shot through the roof towards meta, so i just gave up playing anything but starter until i built my meta deck.
It's Homey's plan to bop the man. If you remember In Living Color. I think they need to come up with a Halloween candy called sallty rope.

CGB is the champion of Crabfest 2020. Although, there are reports he won using stolen crab from his opponents.
I have seen very few conditions in which I rather have a vantress gargoyle or a nighthawk scavenger
besides not having the double black or three mana. Even when monsters out grow my scavenger its a kill from block with lightgain.

I honestly think they just need to exclude decks with the most popular cards in them, a running list from each set, and then just have the rest be a match free-for all. A "Fun list" free for all. Make it a separate format. Have a Ranked, Playtesting, and Fun Play queue where only Jank is allowed.
Yeah its rigged, funny how I ran scute swarm and ended up against mills , then swapped to mono green and went against rogues and sultai control.
how do u think i feel playing mono red goblins and never getting that third land, or simic ramp with only lands, or playing a combo deck and never drawing either of my combo cards? however seems like mono white aggro has a perfect hand every game without fail.
Wasn't digging till we got to that last match and it made it all worth it.

Last night I was legit thinking what would I love to see? Mono blue with a little bit of control and a lot of mill.

Be way better if Wizards including a play any tier deck option not have it auto match you up against somebody with the same power decks. That way people who play commons sand uncommons have a way to test agains Omnath and Ugin etc. just to see how viable budgets decks are.
I mean, I'm glad they try to do something for the players just picking up a prebuilt deck.

What's up brotha, I have a mono blue mill no rogues deck, haven't put it to the test in ranked but people do scoop when I first turn crab.

I wish people turn-one-scooped to me on the play queue. I always get the ones who "good game" me on turn three... and then turn four... and then turn five... Yah I'm not gonna scoop to your scute swarm honey, but it's so precious that you think so.
I find that if you concede a lot, you eventually get favorable matches until the game realizes you won too much, and then it's back to fuck you.
The sequence I love best that inevitably results in a scoop is turn 1 island > crab, turn 2 crab > island > crab, and then they just pack it up if they can't kill the crabs, which is good, because on turn 3 we're dropping a fabled passage.
If you do play in the tournament it would be good to see it.
Play the event, crush with Omnath, become a Pro!
IMO, the better content would be you re-watching your event vid, stopping at points where you need time to explain or multiple lines you could take, and making content that way.
Duuuuuddde... I still think Ruin Crab just needs the right shell. Played some Sealed for fun recently and went 7-2, usually because of Ruin Crab.

I find rune crab way more tilting than omnath personally. Especially because it's uncommon. Way op for a one Mana uncommon I think

I win 2 out of 3 with my budget(10 rare, no mythic) mono blue mill deck against omnath. The problem is, against other decks its more like i win 1 out 4.

CGB: I only used rares and mythics so I could matchup with only omnath decks
Playing a standrad event would solve this play queue problem but I bet you're saving that for a banned uro deck
