      I have an egg left in my incubator, it’s now day 22. All have hatched except this one. When I candle it, I see a dark chick, it’s like pulsing/breathing? Doesn’t seem to have pushed to the air cell yet, but the head was moving as if it was trying. What are your thoughts? The last chick hatched one day ago, the rest were in rapid succession. 😊

    We just started incubating... It's so fun and the kid's really learn a lot from it too. Exploring eggs that didn't make it isn't so bad if you do it when you pull them out, just don't crack open dark eggs, those stink. It's cool seeing the different stages of development.

      It’s really not to hard. The incubator does the job pretty well by itself other than adding water. It’s a good one.

  • @jesseyjourney

    I just entered lockdown with the same incubator but my humidity isn’t going above 60 with both water wells full. I’m looking for ideas on how to raise it. The air vent is completely open.

    • @GossMania
      @GossMania  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes you got to check to see if the lid is shut all the way. Also you can shut the vent some to improve humidity. Sorry my response was as late. I just saw this comment. I pray you had a great hatch.

    • @jesseyjourney
      @jesseyjourney ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GossMania The lid being slightly misaligned was the problem. I fortunately figured it out before pipping started. 11 of 14 hatched and the chicks are all doing well in the brooder now.

    Are you referring to the temp or the humidity level? Your saying temp but pointing to the humidity gauge

    • @GossMania
      @GossMania  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I realized after I edited it that I meant humidity not the temp. I’ll have to correct it and pin it in the comments. Thanks for reminding me.

    This is my second time using this incubator and about half the eggs havent survived already. Any tips for all eggs to survive?

    • @abominablesnowman64
      @abominablesnowman64 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GossMania my own. Temp and humidity are always stable and what the manual say they should be. I also have the incubator in small room so no outside temps mess with the incubator.

    • @abominablesnowman64

      @@GossMania some of them did and others were completely empty. Like about 6 were empty and 3 or 4 looked like were forming but just stopped.
      The empty ones were no doubt not fertile and thats on the chicken's side I'm guessing?

    Did you say 78 degrees? Everything I’ve read says 98 -99 degrees days 1-18 than 97 degrees 18-22

    • @GossMania
      @GossMania  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I thought I pinned A post on it. I meant humidity. Sorry about that was a stupid mom Brian. 99.5-100 degrees for lockdown mine stays at 99.5 degrees and around 75-80 percent humidity.

    How long should it take when they start pipping & chirping until they totally hatch out? How long until I should be concerned?

    • @GossMania
      @GossMania  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So on day 21 when the reader says days 0 they should start pipping by then. However they can pip even well into day 23-25 it has happened all I suggest if they don’t start pipping by day 23-24 candle them and see if you see any movement etc. Have you candled them before you put them on lockdown?

    • @louisagauger623
      @louisagauger623 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GossMania I have 5 hatched out presently, 4 more to go. Had candled them at 7 days and again at 14 days (removed 3 at that time as they were not fertilized) I had purchased a small incubator that actually only held 12 chicken eggs. Yes, did candle them again prior to lockdown. Thanks for the help.
