Don't throw them away man. Donate them. Give them to the kids at the local card shops or Children's hospitals. Kids love the freebies, even if they're base cards.
Most of the videos you see about sports card "investing" is just buying at 60-70% comps and flipping it on the spot before any new ebay sales hit that lower the comp. That's why so much dealing happens at these shows. No one seems to care any more about the cards in any way other than their current perceived value and just constantly trying to trade up.
Buying singles is the way to go. It will definitely work because that’s what I do. Don’t get me wrong I still love ripping packs but buying singles is the way to go.
Honestly, you should collect what YOU like. If you are collecting cards because they are the "hottest or the most popular athlete in their respective sport then you are going to be wasting a TON of money. You said this is for your PC collection. You have to ask yourself? I am collecting Player A because he popular or am I collecting this player's card because he is one of my favorite players? You will be going stir crazy trying to catch the latest and greatest athlete of the month. I don't buy blaster boxes or ultra modern cards. I find that many of the current stars and rookies do not pan out, don't last, or their careers get derailed by injuries (Mike Trout). Me? I like Mickey Mantle, Don Mattingly and Nolan Ryan. Easy to find their cards in the bargain bin at card shows and card shops except Mantle of course. I also collect IP autos on cards as well. They mean nothing to most people except to myself or the collectors who collected during that era.....junk wax era. So do what you like. Collect what you like. Don't collect because everyone else is doing it. Collect players that are your favorite players. Think about Wander Franco. Tons of people "invested" in his cards and spent $1000s on his cards. Now, you are lucky to get a few dollars for him.
Buy singles, always just buy singles. I do it and it’s the way to go, if you have the urge to gamble like me (ripping packs) just buy a hobby box and leave a few packs to the side for whenever you get that itch, then when you pull nothing that itch goes away and it’s back to flipping singles
Yeah, the price for blasters like Topps Chrome has really pushed it to the limit. $39.99 for a blaster at Target and $5.00 more for one at Walmart. The reviews on the Target website really let you know that collectors are not happy and this is going to down the hobby some if it keeps up. I'd imagine that collector's are going to go back to start collecting more affordable cards from the 90's and such as even I'm considering this.
As someone who has major depression of 24 years and has thrown things away that were close to my heart , don't throw away your cards or any possessions that are close to your heart. It's like doing soul surgery on yourself! This is what those preying mantis creatures at the Dulce Base do! They take light bodies out of your soul and it's the worst pain! Some things you can never get back again. The best thing to do is to put older things away as you start over, or even give things to a brother or friend to hang onto temporarily.
Haven't seen the Optic NFL Mega boxes since a few weeks back when I commented on a video. I've been checking regularly and Searched the Delaware Area last week with no luck. Found some NBA Optics blasters. Spent way too much on this hobby in the last few weeks..... LOL
It's the same here in Southern California. I'm in Riverside County. I don't know why we don't get the Optic football cards here. No Blasters, Hangers, Fat packs, Megas, or even the Tins. When I go on Ebay or even Walmart's website, all of the Optic football is selling for at least twice the price that it should be in the store. I had to order a 2022 blaster on Ebay for $80, as I didn't get any Optic from last year either.
You didnt explain your collection... are you trying to put a set together of each card for your PC?
Yes I’m going after the 5 players I mentioned and going to work on putting a set together for each

We are doing that. When I mean throwing away is I mean getting rid of out of them out of my possession
@@Sportscardhustlers Auction them for a charity.
Great idea!

Let's face it.
The collecting hobby is turning into gambling and people are spending tons of money for that next "hit". Addiction is real.
Busting wax has become a scam thanks to all of the box breaks out there. The cost isn't worth it. You are making a good decision.

You picked the most expensive players out there lol
I know 😂
