Even though this game tends to get a lot of hate, I personally love this game. I have always enjoyed the big switch in gameplay this game brings compared to DK and DK Jr, being a shooter. And the music, especially 0:32, is one of my favorite arcade game jingles. Not to mention, while weird that Mario isn't here, I like Stanley. He helps give this game it's own unique feel and style which I also like.
Did Nintendo forget about him? Look at professor E-Gad... tell me there isn't a resemblance. Now look at the Donkey Kong Country lore. Gramps is supposed to be the original Donkey Kong, but now older and the grampa of the new DK. E-Gad developed F.L.U.D. and here we see Stanly using a water gun to fight (old) DK. Maybe professor E-Gads first name is Stanley? Who's to say? That's just a theory...
@@jasonmnosaj Problem with that theory is that we DO know E. Gadd's first name - the E. Is actually short for it, Elvin. Still, that WOULD be really cool.
This game sadly was a victim of poor timing as it relates to its release. By 1983 arcade game technology was advancing by leaps and bounds and people were moving on from Donkey Kong to games like Spy Hunter, Dragons Lair, Pole Position. The game's release also coincided with the 1983 video game crash which is why there were practically no home ports of the game released.
I think it's kind of garbage, really. It's a chaotic, confusing mess that doesn't really take any actual skill. Probably Nintendo's first big disappointment.
@@pearlmario9858 I first played it on a Famicom asian pirate multicart and I was perplexed how different it was, but the graphics and gameplay are great!
I just realized those were beehives. I thought the bugs had been hiding in paper lanterns for years. I was wondering why getting Donkey Kong in the thing at the top won the game. Didn't know it was because he was attacked by bees

Probably by this point Nintendo mostly wanted to keep the exclusivity of their games to their NES
well the famicom was already out in japan when dk3 came out (hence the ricoh 2a03 sound chip) so this makes sense

Stanley was also the hero of the Game & Watch game "Greenhouse." (Included in "Game & Watch Gallery 3.")

This is a game I really like. In fact, it's my favorite in the original DK trilogy. Very underrated.

It looks easy. It’s really not. The NES version is easier than the arcade version. It’s quite fast paced and can get really difficult.
