I definitely want to say thank you! Your kitchen island is super similar to mine. I have white countertops with black veining on top of my black IKEA cabinets and when I saw you adding a panel by the dishwasher I was inspired to get my leftover Ikea toekick and I’m gonna find a way to adhere it to island next to dishwasher, so my black cabinets have a more seamless look!
Yessssss I have the slimline smart version of your new dishwasher the decibels on it are amazing the quietness 10/10 that light shining on the floor with all the times details etc fantastic
Kayla you are one talented young lady. I just love all of your diys. I know you will figure out how to fix the small problems. I love the island and I think the black would be nice in the backside as well.
Yasss... 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 I love the skinny shaker look. As a girly that loves a black kitchen, it's only right that I vote for the black wood slats. Great job mama. ☺️💐💐💐
This looks amazing! I agree with you that the black slat panels would be great on the other side of the island. Especially if you keep the existing chairs you have with the natural wood slats. Look forward to the next episode!
Kayla, you are awesome… I love to watch you work and accomplish the DIY projects in your home. I say continue with the black on the opposite side also. Wish I was a DIYer when I was younger. Keep it up, you are very inspiring, I’ll be watching 🙏🏾
This looks so beautiful 😍. You go girl! You def inspired me to get up off my behind and fix my kitchen up to look the way I want. I am curious though about the placement of the handle on the faux drawer below the sink. I would have centered it in the middle of the drawer front vs the top where it sits right beneath the counter. It would have lined up with the handles of the two drawers on the side keeping a symmetrical visual flow. Ngl that minor detail has my eye twitching lol but you did an amazing job overall. Especially when you had to remove that part of the frame next to the dishwasher and cut out a piece on the base, I was like oh she big brave!! 😅 loved the video!
thanks! 😊 the handle you’re referring to is not the same type of handle as the rest. this style of handle is an edge pull or finger pull, so it has to be installed on the edge of the cabinet the way I did as it attaches from behind. we used that style on every drawer >30”, so there are 5 total in the kitchen, including the 3 drawers directly across from that one on the main wall. The edge pulls are meant to be an accent handle, since we don’t have any knobs. If you look at high end kitchens, they often use a mixture of hardware styles to keep it from looks cookie cutter and predictable. Once you see the full kitchen, with the new cabinet fronts, it will make more sense why that handle is different 😌
Kayla girl, first kudos to you for the consistent TH-cam uploads! I know it takes a lot of work creating these videos but I’m loving the frequent uploads! Secondly the island looks AMAZING!!! It’s so sleek, sophisticated and sexy 😂. I didn’t know that skinny shaker was a thing but now I’m here for it. As far as the front of the island goes I would love to see a rendering of the two options. I love contrast so initially I was thinking the wood tone would look best but based on the overall vibe that you’ve got going on in the kitchen I’m betting that the painted black slats will work best.
so that was part of my original plan buuut as I was cutting the face frame divider in front of the sink, I started to get worried that it was necessary for structural support and aborted mission lol. if you watch closely, you can see a line on that part of the cabinet where I stopped cutting halfway through 😂
You should check out under cabinet power strips for your island (and you backsplash too) instead of the outlet box. They let you hide your outlets right up under your cabinets instead of on the wall. They give you many more outlets, spread along the length of your counter and they don’t interfere with you backsplash tile or slab ( i.e. no cutting around them). On your island you can put it right up under the quartz, install your slats right up to it and it will disappear. As long as that wall is open, it should be easy. Oh yeah, and I’m pretty sure they come in black.
SW Extra White! I recommend doing swatches before you paint though bc colors will look different depending on lighting, items around it, undertones, etc.
I like the black wood slat idea. Your stools already have the natural slat look.

love that!! thanks for watching!
Closing on our first home soon and I needed this!!!
Congratulations 🎉
Congrats!!!

I know I'm late watching this episode, but everything looks amazing. I wish I had your skills for DIY I could save myself so much money.
The black looks so good!
Perhaps you can use the black rustoleum high heat spray on the dish washer.
good thinking! Imma start there and maybe add a thin piece of wood too if that doesn’t conceal it enough for my liking
Looks so good!!!

Oh wow!!! Great work!!! Island looks amazing 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Such a kitchen inspiration!! And yes black wood slats would add dimension and blend in so well on the front side of the island.

Stunning ❤
Get the black wood slats for sure. Where did you get the doors from? It's gorgeous!
That is so much better ❤❤❤❤
Love the skinny frame door front look🖤 For the level, you need a longer one. It’s only level for the length of the level
Black wood slats . Your island looks amazing
So freakin talented!!!! I love it!!!❤🎉🌷♥️

I've looked through so many videos but can't find anything about your barstools. I love them! Can you provide a link?
Looks great 👍🏽
Looks good
You should add the rev a shelf sink front trays to the faux drawers
so that was part of my original plan buuut as I was cutting the face frame divider in front of the sink, I started to get worried that it was necessary for structural support and aborted mission lol. if you watch closely, you can see a line on that part of the cabinet where I stopped cutting halfway through 😂
You should do a black stained slat
love it
You should check out under cabinet power strips for your island (and you backsplash too) instead of the outlet box. They let you hide your outlets right up under your cabinets instead of on the wall. Oh you did say power strip. I missed that! Can’t wait to see it.
I wanted to get the black ones but they were sold out when I needed them 😭 luckily they’ll be hidden!
Love it.
I think black slats be then change the chairs from tan to black as well.
Natural wood to contrast the all black island
Loving it you go woman Beautiful 💕💕
For that seam by the corner, instead of using chalk I would do wood filler and just paint it. Should fill and look better
Where’s the link to the auto trash can pull out opener?
my bad, just added it to the description for you!
@@kaylasimonehome Thanks. Keep up the great work.
Definitely go black on the back of the island
What products did you use?
Black 🖤
Silicone? For below the sink fronts
I have a new build that’s already customized why do I still want to do this though 😂😂
I’m trying to locate the under sink pullout and the link isn’t working properly. Can you please advise on where I should look?
my bad, I just fixed it! ☺️
@@kaylasimonehomethank you so much!!!
✨
You may have already said, but what’s your wall color?
SW Extra White! I recommend doing swatches before you paint though bc colors will look different depending on lighting, items around it, undertones, etc.
❤
How about just leaving it white?
