I blame Driving Sports for making us buy a Crosstrek Wilderness and I personally blame Ryan for my sheer joy in driving our Sun Blaze Pearl Crosstrek Wilderness that we named Willy the Wonder Car. We took Willy on many an off road adventure during our vacation to southern Utah and northern New Mexico. By watching Ryan drive his Wilderness we learned how to drive off road. We drove Willy through deep sand, mud and snow. With ease. When we encountered some deep sandy throughs while trying to find the Angle of Death spire in the outback around Hanksville, UT, I white knuckled it through the troughs fearing we would get stuck. Willy gracefully entered and exited these troughs with no problem owed to the front/rear bumper clearance. Taking a cue from Ryan’s ride up a very rocky road, we took Willy out to the Anza Borrego desert and tried out a very rocky, narrow dirt road that climbed up and down hills in the Badlands. There were some larger boulders that my husband had to move out of the way but Willy handled that rocky road like a champ. Having a car as capable as the Crosstrek Wilderness really opens up many an adventure to come. Thanks Ryan, I owe you one❤️
I think we all know that Ryan does this show for his own joy and pleasure. Everything else is merely incidental. By far the best and most fun auto review show with the most affable host.
The absolute joy that flowed through me when I saw another Crosstrek Wilderness video is crazy. I absolutely love that car and I plan on getting one thanks to this channel! The authenticity of the tests let the car really shine and has absolutely motivated me to get one, thank you Driving Sports Team!
I don't usually comment on videos but I just have to here to acknowledge the high quality videos that you produce in terms of visual, sound and info provided. It looks like a lot of effort goes into making these videos, especially all of the different angles of the same shot. You're probably getting help with the editing but I think you're on your own when shooting... I can't imagine how many times you're getting in and out of the car to reposition the cameras. Excellent work! Love your videos!
Wow that is a seriously cool area. Those investments in your multiple proving grounds make the difference in your channel quality! Can't wait to see the new area be developed.
Just want to say I appreciate you carving out a way to make your content without having to give away locations of campsites or fun offroad areas in the PNW. Most off road content creators don't realize there is an unintentional correlation between views they get and the amount of trash people leave when they try to go scope out spots they saw online. Not sure if everyone picks up on how unique your approach is or if you will get ROI for it, so just wanted to say thank you
I follow this from New Zealand and have found this to be the most enjoyable vehicle review channel that I have come across. I have a sister who lives in Shoreline and love Washington State so that is a bonus as well. Keep up the great reviews Ryan.
Amazing. I always wanted to see more tests of the capabilities of CUVs. It wasn't too common to see anyone push them. I appreciate you stepping this testing up.
I used to love to play with Hot Wheels in my backyard when I was a kid. Making all kinds of trails and obstacles for them. You're doing that in the real world!!
Sweet, this terrain looks pretty well exactly like what we deal with in the Vancouver-Whistler BC area, so super relevant to my local conditions. Stoked.
This new course is an excellent addition to the channel. It is well thought-out, and honestly I look forward to seeing more of it. Oh, and I will work for course time. :D
Great work expanding your test areas. You must do your 2021 Crosstrek vs the 2024 Wilderness on this new location. I'm curious if it's really worth paying extra for the Wilderness trim.
Congratulations on the further purchase! Love to watch this Crosstrek get and meet the challenges! True to-off road, can’t wait till your terrain is all snow!! Looking forward to that mountain goat plow through the snow. Viva Subaru 💯🏆❤️🥇
Great video. Thanks for the clarification of the offroad courses, I'm glad you're keeping the other course. Love the Crosstrek wilderness, great little car.
Very cool new playground. Would be kinda neat to see a timed course aspect on that "rally stage" road leading through the property. Could be a fun way to discern differences between cars for acceleration, braking, handling and such on loose surfaces at decent pace.
I really like the new location and course set up! Since it’s mostly natural, it’s really similar to what others would experience in the real world. The Subaru looks right at home there, as well!
Thanks Ryan and crew for giving us a very entertaining and informative channel, congrats on your new site. I can’t wait for 2024, its going to be epic !!!!!
Great video! I know it really doesn’t fit the channel but it would be awesome to see a short video about how you found the site and the process of buying it for this kind of use. As someone in the PNW looking to buy property for car toys, you are living my future goals!
Love your videos. You're one of the only channels that has reviewed the Crosstrek Wilderness (and other trims), and actually did a bit of technical off-roading with it. That helped a lot in my decision to buy a Crosstrek Wilderness next month and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be disappointed. I'm just going to be using it for light off-roading, but it's good to see an actual demonstration of it's capabilities and limitations (instead of finding out the hard way). I foresee the spare tire being an issue in the middle of nowhere, so I'm probably going to be buying a full size wheel and tire and locking it down on my roof for long trips.
This, in addition to the Eastern Washington off-road area, is a most impressive commitment to your channel. The Polaris looks like extreme fun. The Crosstrek could use a better approach angle (aftermarket lower fascia?).
This is cool! Great to see our region featured in the videos. Your review helped us decide on our 2021 Crosstrek sport which we’ve have enjoyed since day 1! 😁
Well Happy New Year Ryan! 2024 Hope you and your family had great holiday memories. This course is a fantastic addition to your arsenal of terrain. Not to mention, saves you many hours of driving over to Eastern WA. during this time of year. I look forward to your creations. Sand pit for the Crawl Control competition would be fun to see. Who can dig down to the frame at all 4 corners and walk out w/out any outside aids? Something we know the 4R TRD can do.
I'm one of your neighbors in Kirkland ;) and your channel prompted me to get an off-road capable car and find dirt roads / fire roads / etc. to play in. Would love to have a tour of your facilities some time!
That looks like a dream come true!! Congrats on the great videos and content in general. It was really nice seeing the Subaru testing the new grounds first!
Congrats on your expansion! Really happy I found your channel, I've been binging on so many of your videos. Great stuff! Love the Wilderness, too and can't wait to get behind the wheel of my own!
Very cool and less of a drive than the mountain course. I'd like to see you test older vehicles that you can buy for a reasonable price - maybe a "best off-road SUVs for 10-15k" or something like that.
Any off-road Subaru should really have the full 2in of lift that it can handle. Like the iron man 4x4 long travel suspension. The the wilderness only has 1in lift so either a 1in spacer or replace the suspension with the iron man. Also bigger tires with smaller rims.
Beautiful course! Great purchase! Cpoming from the Panhandle beach area, yes its beautiful but really love this type of area you purchased. I also am a 3 Subaru owner now, 2 crosstreks (before Wilderness) now Forester Wilderness. Very capable for what they are, another EXCELLENT review!!
I’ve been binging your Subaru videos this evening and loving every second of it. You should try and get some review units for a comparison between the different Wilderness options. I’m particularly interested in seeing how the Outback Wilderness compares to the Crosstrek.
Wow nice to see the capability in real environment. As always your video is awesome ! I can wait too see the comparison between the CT Wilderness and your CT sport (with the Falken wildpeak tire) !!!
Since Ryan is responsible for many of us purchasing CT Wilderness’s he should allow us a free pass on the gravel pit property . lol Thanks Ryan you are our hero !
Me gusta mucho tu canal! excelentes videos y por alguna razon relajantes, tu forma calmada de ser, se trasmite a los demas Felicidades! Buen trabajo Saludos desde Mexico!
what I haven't seen are trenches... you have stuff that can high center the vehicle... but what about the opposite. a dip or trench to test its front end grip and rear ability to push and lift the front end over. in addition some side hill driving with taking out a wheel on the top side. lastly, a ledge where the front grips and climbs over while the rear pushes, but then can the front pull the rear over when the rear gets under a little bit of the ledge.
I love the symmetrical AWD, and dual X Mode is pretty effective, but for the "Wilderness" models they really need to add a locking rear axle, especially since the price has crept up to the mid 30s.
Even better would be a non-CVT transmission. We’ve owned 9 different Subarus and the older non-CVT ones were much better off-road. Unfortunately it will never happen and the CVT is an off-road killer.
@@davideades4839 HUH??? All I mentioned was a locking rear axle, or it could be some sort of mechanical limited slip. That hardly makes it a truck, and would not in any way make it less comfortable for daily driving. The Bronco Sport, based on a CUV has it. I never said anything about a dual transfer case or more ground clearance.
You should do an episode where you invite the guys from truck king and maybe others to come to your new course and drive around in various trucks. They can give you their ideas.
Since Subaru dropped the turbo in the Forester, it would be nice if they would put in. Hybrid system for more torque and power to add to the Gutless 180hp 2.5L now found in the 24 Forester.
His rally road is our everyday driveway. That's why we own a Subaru outback and a Jeep wrangler. It's a 1/4 mile long to the house. Further by a lot for the rest of the farm. No roads. Just dirt and more dirt. My wife wants me to get a cross trek so bad.

What he did with his sport crosstrek was crazy too. That's why I got the Limited crosstrek 23 great Car, just can't take hickory nuts.
I think we all know that Ryan does this show for his own joy and pleasure. Everything else is merely incidental. By far the best and most fun auto review show with the most affable host.
I totally agree with this. He comes across as an everyday guy who just happens to be a car expert. Which is way less intimidating and more engaging.
The fact that you guys have your own vehicle testing environment is amazing 🔥🔥. Congratulations for this new addition to the channel.
The absolute joy that flowed through me when I saw another Crosstrek Wilderness video is crazy. I absolutely love that car and I plan on getting one thanks to this channel! The authenticity of the tests let the car really shine and has absolutely motivated me to get one, thank you Driving Sports Team!
They've about sold me on one too 🤣
Me too!
Absofreekinlutely
Just wait until you see the AWESOME front skid plate on the Wilderness. Tuff
This channel is what made us pull the trigger on an Outback Wilderness when those came out too 🤣
The more I watch the cross track wilderness the more I want one

Thanks! We have crew that travels for the shots outside of Washington.
I freaking love this channel. Total city guy here, but the off-roading antics are my guilty pleasure. Thanks for posting and going strong into 2024!

Much appreciated!
You should add a pond to test wading through water. Also I would consider a longer steep hill climb for the future.
I am a 91 year old…happily driving to rehab🤗🤗Crosstrek is for anyone 🤗❤️❤️❤️
I follow this from New Zealand and have found this to be the most enjoyable vehicle review channel that I have come across. I have a sister who lives in Shoreline and love Washington State so that is a bonus as well. Keep up the great reviews Ryan.

Great course! Look forward to many more years of Driving Sports on TH-cam. Thanks for all you do.

Great place for more hardcore off road reviews with cars we're not expected. Greetings
This new course is an excellent addition to the channel. It is well thought-out, and honestly I look forward to seeing more of it. Oh, and I will work for course time. :D
Just bought a wilderness, drives fantastic on and off road
I knew you were a different kind of auto journalist when I saw you take that alpina x7 off-roading!
Great channel, only gonna get better!
Great work expanding your test areas. You must do your 2021 Crosstrek vs the 2024 Wilderness on this new location. I'm curious if it's really worth paying extra for the Wilderness trim.
Im in Canada and yours is one of the best reviews channel. Especially on the tacoma and 4runners - my favourites. Best wishes.

Y’all do the best vehicle reviews by far
I love the new property, I can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with it.
I really like the new location and course set up! Since it’s mostly natural, it’s really similar to what others would experience in the real world. The Subaru looks right at home there, as well!

You guys are honestly one of the best if not the best car channels out there. So much detail and dedication to your craft! Love it!
Your channel is so underrated. It should have way more subs
Why do I feel this as a new chapter in your channel? This course is going to be awesome!
This, in addition to the Eastern Washington off-road area, is a most impressive commitment to your channel. The Polaris looks like extreme fun. The Crosstrek could use a better approach angle (aftermarket lower fascia?).
Yea, that is a downside of the boxer engine. It makes the front of the car longer than a transverse engine.

I plow snow with my Crosstrek here in NH. Video is on my channel.
Congratulations on the property looks awesome and keep pushing great videos
Man, I wish I knew your channel 17 yrs ago. Beautiful new course!
All that explanations took the major fun of this off road test video
I'm one of your neighbors in Kirkland ;) and your channel prompted me to get an off-road capable car and find dirt roads / fire roads / etc. to play in. Would love to have a tour of your facilities some time!
That looks like a dream come true!! Congrats on the great videos and content in general. It was really nice seeing the Subaru testing the new grounds first!
Loving the new course, what you really need is a full mechanical carwash at one end...😛
The course is coming around nicely!
Love the new driving course!! Can’t wait to see the vehicles that power through it!
we got a 24 forester limited and love it for the comfort features. but those crosstreks look like a little mad max vehicle. love them.
Can’t wait to see what this course will look like in a few years!
I'm surprised that you don't have more subscribers. Such a gem!
Congrats on your expansion! Really happy I found your channel, I've been binging on so many of your videos. Great stuff!
Love the Wilderness, too and can't wait to get behind the wheel of my own!

That Alpine Green is a very beautiful color.
The fact you were able to get your own ma$$ive course is a testament to your dedication, great videos, knowledge, and fan base. Keep it up Ryan.
Polaris Ranger XD 1500 has the power dump bed
Can we just have a Subie Saturday video EVERY Saturday??
I’ve been binging your Subaru videos this evening and loving every second of it. You should try and get some review units for a comparison between the different Wilderness options. I’m particularly interested in seeing how the Outback Wilderness compares to the Crosstrek.
Love this channel and love getting out to places that I probably shouldn't be able to.
congratulations on furthering your land kingdom 👍
Ryan,
Thanks for the new video and a first look at your new “Proving Grounds”. It’ll certainly separate the men from the boys !
Wow nice to see the capability in real environment. As always your video is awesome ! I can wait too see the comparison between the CT Wilderness and your CT sport (with the Falken wildpeak tire) !!!
I sell these, and they are my favorite Subaru! I love driving the Crosstrek Wilderness!!!
Ryan. Great new course! Have you considered putting on off-road driving classes at this location?
Congrats on the new course! I think there should be a mud course
Congratulations Ryan. Happy 2024 👍
Do a video on the new Subaru Ascent, theres a blizzard on both passes, would be perfect conditions to put the ‘23-‘24 year ascent to the test!
This absolutely magnificent, seriously i think i will aim for a hobby like this in the future and create a track like this here in canada
Since Ryan is responsible for many of us purchasing CT Wilderness’s he should allow us a free pass on the gravel pit property . lol
Thanks Ryan you are our hero !
Dang brother, you really do put in Sweat Equity on your course! Great job!
Me gusta mucho tu canal! excelentes videos y por alguna razon relajantes, tu forma calmada de ser, se trasmite a los demas Felicidades! Buen trabajo Saludos desde Mexico!
Didn’t know you had a riding channel but followed immediately 😅
What a fun job you have! I'm quite jealous lol
Love subject Saturday ♡♡ the course is looking good

Happy New Year Ryan and to your Fam🎉
The Crosstrek Wilderness is a little beast of a car
Loved this video and the Crosstrek!
LOVE THE POLARIS! WOOH
I do really love this channel and this subaru xv😊😊

I'd buy one immediately if it had a locking diff. It'd be a perfect addition to our family.

Locking diffs, transfer case, more ground clearance... dude, buy a truck. Thats what you want so do it.

We’d love to have the Truck King guys down. They’re great guys. We plan on inviting others after we get the courses sorted.
Looks great!
I would love to see a RAV4 Woodland Edition go through this!
What I took away from that is that the crosstrek needs more height! Hahaha, great video as always!
Great movie as always!

Gotta do a shooting sports channel in that pit!
The first words my grand son learnt to say was Mamma Dada Soobachew Closschek😁
What's better for off roading ? Honda pilot or Crosstrek ?
Crosstrek. More versatile
If you need three rows the Pilot TrailSport is very good.
Put that Diagonal test in an uphill and the Subaru is toast
I think the sienna wilderness should have a go through this course LOL
Can you test the regular non wilderness crosstrek on this same course
How about some testing with weight in the vehicles?
Put some people inside
Would love to see the pioneer 700-4 or 1000-5 run your course!
This is awesome
Yay!!!
Saturday morning Subaru Video!!
