    I've got 2 RV ac units I'm going to replace the capacitors on this week. Your comments about them fully self-discharging is a relief, I hate working on electrical things. Been shocked too many times.

    Good video, now I have to see if my meter can measure capacitance. Keep the good stuff coming.

    If you want to test under load, use your meter in amps and clamp on herm. Take reading and multiply it by 2652, now use meter and take voltage between common and herm. Take number and divide by voltage will tell ya how much juice she got left! Cheers

    I have a 2000 mini Winnie Winnebago with a air conditioning on top only has 30,000 miles on it anyway I’m having problems with my fans starting and I changed all three capacitors. I know the starter capacitor for the fan has the brown wires in. it’s kind of the oblong shape Capacitor changed all three and I switch on the switch to check it. The fan still won’t start if it’s turned on and then I touch the fan and start turning it with my hand. It will go and it will work and work on high and low and everything works, except for the fan starting up and I know the capacitor that I put on the new capacitor I put on there works and I checked the white wires to go to the fan and it doesn’t seem like there’s any short those wires is there anything I might be missing, keep that fan from starting because the fan works. It works on high and low. It just won’t start unless started with my hand please I’ve been dealing with this for limited time over four years because RVs in Colorado and I live in California so I have a little time to work on it, but it’s really frustrating. Please help.

      I have a roof top ac unit in my camper. I'm going to attach a video of the unit trying to start, can you tell me just by listening if I need the start capacitor or the other one?

      Sounds like the fan motor is going out. You can spray wd40 on the base of the shaft towards the motor, (just a few good squirts) then spin it by hand some, and it might buy you a little more time. But a motor replacement is probably needed. These motors are not strong and the least bit of grime or wear can make them do that. Always make sure electricity is completely disconnected before working on it. And make sure you get correct fan motor if you replace it. I'm sure you can find videos on your particular model.

    Question when there are some wires that look a little burnt should i cut wire back some and replace the ? Spade? Also on air box there is very minimal brown look on 2 of the 6 connectors. I dont have a meter to check anything but i do know the compressor tries to "kick" but doesnt fully kick in. But got a new capacitor gonna replace and hope thats all it is. Please let me know about burnt wires! Thanks

    My Dometic currently has a 40/15 dual start capacitor. Can i sub it for a 50/15? 40/15 is super hard to find and 100 times more expensive so just wondering.

      Can you? Yes. However it is 5% over the rated tolerance so don't be surprised if you experience a malfunction down the road. You likely will not for a very long time. That being said, in my professional opinion it is always best to utilize the correct parts as they were engineered for optimization.

    So if I need a capacitor and mine is oval and I found one at ace hardware thats the same 50/5 but round will it still work ok. Sorry stupid question.... This is the beginning of our camping so we are super nervous

    ¿Can the testing be done while capacitor in still in circuit?

    Does it matter what size compacitor I replace one with?

      Yes, absolutely voltage and micro farrads must be correct.

    How do I know what size compacitor I need?

    • @MRRVTECH
      @MRRVTECH  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is listed on the side label of the bad one.

    Does it matter what size compacitor I replace one with?

    • @Dave.O
      @Dave.O 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, greatly. Get one with the same ratings in farads and voltage as the old one if you can't find an exact replacement. I think most motors also list what size capacitor is needed.
