Actually, he did go to therapy. He started doing that way before he met her. The trauma was very deeply ingrained 'cause when the traumatic events took place he was three years old. Not to say that up until that age he had an abuse free upbringing. 😐

The acting is great here. The problem is, so much was cut and edited and kept out from the books that no one knows. People are judging Christian by the movies and what they see which is superficial. The books say so much more. Christian is a survivor who had to learn that he deserved to be loved. He had to learn what a healthy relationship is. He was abused his entire life, first by his birth mother and her boyfriend/s, then s*xually by his mother's best friend as a teenager and young adult. Christian had to learn that he was targeted, groomed and a victim. Christian had to learn to be able to stand up for himself. The movies don't do Christian or Anna justice.

I've been recommended these movies many times but have never watched it because with just the few clips i've seen of it i don't think i'd like it, i can't stand the acting, theres like no emotion in their words or faces and zero chemistry between them. Maybe thats just me, maybe i'm wrong but i don't think so...

I also heard that AFTER was inspired by this movies, but the chemistry between hardin and tessa is addictive, I can't get over the AFTER franchise. I only watched 50 shades once in past few weeks and didn't watch it again.
