Polyrhythms, An original composition for hammered dulcimer

- I was messing around with polyrhythms and I came up with this little exercise/song. I don’t know why but I like the really simple chord progression (just a minor and G) with the more complex rhythm. The rhythm obviously isn’t anywhere near to perfect but I thought I might as well make this anyway. Today (the Fourth of July) also marks one year of me playing my dulcimer. I think it’s fun to look back and see how much I have improved. If any one reads this, thanks!

Oh, that ascending 5:3 is lovely
Thank you.
Your ability to play multiple different rhythms at once is incredible!
Thank you, practice and using m.youtube.com/@Polyrhythms has helped a lot.
Thank you for this!
Thank you for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I love this! This instrument is perfect for polyrhythms, what a great idea.
Thank you, I thought so too.
Nice! When the polyrhythms kicked in it reminded me of tubular bells by mike oldfield
Thank you! I’ve never heard that one before, just listened to it and it sounds amazing. Thx.
Beautiful! This is my first time hearing this instrument.
Glad you liked it!
wow inspiring.
makes me want to rent and get a hammered dulcimer
Thank you. Getting a dulcimer is a very worthwhile investment.🙂
The fact that you can perfrm entirely different rhythms at the same time is absolutely incredible. @ @ beautiful.
Thank you, it took quite a lot of practice. There are lots of people that are better than me at it though, TH-cam is an amazing place.

yeah that 3 to 5 :000000 was a little weird…
@@KylerHD It usually helps me to think of the 5 as the backbone and just remember the last two 3s are swung, falling on off beat triplets. The first coming right before, and the next coming right after one of the 5s. That must be difficult to do since the 3s are the backbone of this piece. Its hard to feel 5 in reference to 3.
@memejones7511 thank you for the advice. I almost left the 5 3 out because it was so difficult to focus on the three as the center. I ended up thinking of the fives as the center in the end though. Thank you, I appreciate it!
Very impressive! I like that idea a lot. I've always wanted one of these instruments.
Thank you, and they are definitely worth it! It’s probably one of the best investments I have ever made.
Baffling that you can do this
Thank you.
This is for those who don't have migraine yet 😂
did kyler... cook?
No…
so many rhythms
That was the point. 🙃
poly means so many
Yes, because translation is like that sometimes. 🙂
