I play a small amount of hammered dulcimer. Ok, fine I spend all my time playing Dulcimer. I still have a long, long way to go. This channel is partly just so I can look back on how bad I was when I started in a few years. However I am improving, and hopefully you can see that by watching my videos in order. Thank you!

Just me practicing polyrhythms. I like this exercise were I increase the beats in the right hand ever four repetitions.
Polyrhythms, An original composition for hammered dulcimer
มุมมอง 1.7K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
I was messing around with polyrhythms and I came up with this little exercise/song. I don’t know why but I like the really simple chord progression (just a minor and G) with the more complex rhythm. The rhythm obviously isn’t anywhere near to perfect but I thought I might as well make this anyway. Today (the Fourth of July) also marks one year of me playing my dulcimer. I think it’s fun to look...
Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, played on the hammered dulcimer

A recording of the hymn. I tried a new camera setup, I thought it worked pretty well. I probably should have done another take, there’s a few hiccups in there.
A Metronome in the Sound Hole of a Dulcimer? Improv
มุมมอง 4083 หลายเดือนก่อน
I thought it was interesting that my metronome made my low e buzz for a second, so I made a little improv with it. I think this has something to do with the harmonics of the E but I’m not sure why yet. It is interesting to me that the note doesn’t buzz for its whole length but only for the first second or so. If any one knows why please do tell. Also I have never really improvised before so I d...

There are a few minor mistakes, the audio isn’t great, but it’s still a good performance. I love this song. It’s the best. I’ll probably record a better version in the future but for now this will do.

I am a Rock by Simon and Garfunkel played on the hammered dulcimer
มุมมอง 1076 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ice cream taste good. This is a song originally by Simon and Garfunkel, that i didn’t really have to arrange a whole lot, I roll a few chords and that’s about it. Also sorry if there are any slight tuning issues, my treble bridge is about a millimeter or two off in some places so it may sound out of tune, but this time I promise my dulcimer is sober. I was on a little bit of a time crunch makin...

This is great. Would love some more bassline stuff if possible.
Thanks. I’ll definitely be trying to make more songs in this style. Glad you enjoyed it!
I would recommend the next step in your videography and composition journey be a higher quality microphone. The nuances of each note are washed out by your current microphones' inability to record true sounds at high volumes.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve noticed this too, right now I’m just using an iPhone, I do plan on buying a mic in the future. Thank you!
Souns so good, witewally cracked at fortnite
Ok. Thx. I guess🙃

Thank you

Ok.
I love the way it sounds! Good job!

@OdinFaber thx🙃
Everything looks great!
Thank you, I’m glad you think so.
the lighting is actually insane
Yeah it was really good timing with the rain, and I didn’t realize how epic the lights were in my sun room till now.
that background actually looks really nice with the dulcimer
Thanks, I spent a long time getting the camera angle right. The rain was supper cool.
supper cool
Dinner epic.
these are preexisting conditions that yes (autosuggest..?)
Auto suggesting is weird sometimes. Thx.🙂
i like how at 0:57 you play the same theme in a different scale. i think it would be cool to change to like mixolydian there
Thx. That’s a good idea. Part of the reason I did that was because of the way the dulcimer is designed. 🙂
Good job, it sounds great!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Nice
Thanks.
Sounds amazing!!!
Thank you. I’m glad you like it. It was my first time ever performing in front of a crowd.🙂
I'm also interested in trying that watch face out on my smartwatch. Can you tell me which one that is and where to find it?
The watch is a Garmin forerunner 55, it’s just the standard watch face.🙂
@@KylerHD Thanks!
I really love the Dulcimer's voice. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I think it sounds better than the other versions on youtube. Some have too much in them. I love this.
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I think that the reason for its simplicity is that I didn’t arrange the piece very much. Thank you for watching.
this thing is about to explode for whatever reason i see
Not sure I know what you mean, but thanks for watching.
@@KylerHD I Think, They Mean This Amazing Video Is Going To Be Really Popular Soon.
That’s what I thought. Thank you.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Yeah. It’s a beautiful verse.
This is amazing! Made me think of Sherlock Holmes.
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful music to my ears.
Thank you. I’m glad you liked it🙂
This is one of the nicest and most calming songs I’ve heard in a bit, thanks for the music!
Thank you, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I just started out in composing my own music, it makes me so happy and grateful that people enjoy it.

Thx. Yeah I just really liked that one part. I did audio editing with GarageBand. Thx.🙃
Hermoso❤
Gracias.
definitely one of my favorite sounding instruments. the song is oddly nostalgic. 👍
Thank you. I think the nostalgia might be because it’s a waltz, they just have that feel sometimes. Glad you enjoyed it!
The first few notes are straight up Harry Potter
I didn’t even realize. I don’t listen to the Harry Potter music ever. Thank you.
Gosh this is beautiful. It almost feels cleansing after a long week of work yo hear something so lovely.
Thank you. I glad you like it, I was going through a time where I needed rest as well when I wrote this.
I love the vibes! Reminds me of Minecraft
Glad you like it. The Minecraft music is pretty good, it’s an honor to remind people of it.🙃
That actually sounded really good especially for something you pretty much made yourself
Still not ikwen level. 😔 Michael’s too good. Thx.
I really like this! As of writing this, the video sits at 82 views, and from a youtube standpoint that may not feel like a lot, but it is more than enough to fill up a room. You are great, and I hope you only grow more and more from here!
Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It means a lot to me. That’s a really great way of thinking about TH-cam, and it makes me glad that there are so many nice people on this platform.
very polyrhythmic
Thank you. I am at a church thingy right now so I have no dulcimer to make videos with
Well done. This was nice to listen to.
Thank you, I am so glad that people enjoy it.

Actually I never do either. Which I am kinda glad for. 🙃

No…
The fact that you can perfrm entirely different rhythms at the same time is absolutely incredible. @ @ beautiful.
Thank you, it took quite a lot of practice. There are lots of people that are better than me at it though, TH-cam is an amazing place.
Oh, that ascending 5:3 is lovely
Thank you.
Its so beautiful
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Your ability to play multiple different rhythms at once is incredible!
Thank you, practice and using m.youtube.com/@Polyrhythms has helped a lot.
This is for those who don't have migraine yet 😂
wow inspiring. makes me want to rent and get a hammered dulcimer
Thank you. Getting a dulcimer is a very worthwhile investment.🙂
I love this! This instrument is perfect for polyrhythms, what a great idea.
Thank you, I thought so too.
Baffling that you can do this
Thank you.
Nice! When the polyrhythms kicked in it reminded me of tubular bells by mike oldfield
Thank you! I’ve never heard that one before, just listened to it and it sounds amazing. Thx.
