I remember this. He played with Dave Matthew's that weekend. I met a dude from Korea that had opium hash. From what I remember I fully enjoyed myself. He called it "the mix" good times.
Opium was everywhere that weekend. I remember only seeing it once before then. Literally every camp smelled like it was getting down all weekend. Someone definitely dropped a boulder of it in TN.
Shrooming out of my mind, ankle deep in mud and water..this was the night I tried to escape Bonnaroo and failed. I've lived to tell the tale of that wet and wild weekend a decade ago.
What an epic end to an epic experience!!! So perfect and I was lucky enough to be there. Love all of you there with me that night! No strangers all family that night.
Also for the record First Tube was originally intended to be a Trey solo song, it made it into Farmhouse along with Sand more bc of lack of material written by the other guys for the album. First Tube was originally debuted for the opening of the Higher Ground in S Burlington in October '98 by Trey Anastasio and the 8' fluorescent Tubes which was he precursor to the TAB, which was originally a 3 piece band. Totally sick Trey wrote all new material for the one off show.
The kind of fireworks that drop real slow and take forever to burn out are pretty much the bread and butter of a hippie festival fireworks show. i feel like every time i'm camping on lsd thats the way they roll.
First tube is on the phish album "Farmhouse". Trey wrote all the music for farmhouse, including almost all keyboard, bass and drum parts. That's why when TAB plays a Phish tune, it's most always from Farmhouse.
Oxy contin was a hell of a drug. I did a lot of it at this festival. My homie left 2000 dollars and a shit ton of all kinds of dope on a hill next to the hippie caricatures. Sat down and did a bump, heard this and ran away from his stash. Idiots. P.s. 7 years clean this June.

I was at the 1st 3 roo's, i know TAB played headline first one in 02 cant remember 04 as much cause i remember 04 i did part of phish summer tour so it confuses me that trey would be playing TAB same summer but i remember roo always being beginning of summer thats how we'd always fund rest of summer n fall tours working bonnaroo, well either way this was the last good bonnaroo after this the thugs and no2 mafia moved in causing all sorts of trouble and security and police were bad beginning in 04 where the 1st two were wide open asf get away with anything
It all blurs together. I think this is the year with talking heads and Wilco. Year before was femi kuti and galactic , Gillian Welch with David Rawlings. If that's any help. I remember the mud lol. Tractor had to tow out our RV : )
