Another GREAT video....Sophia is a HOOT and real pistol! Lucky you she still is young enough to want to spend time with you and Jason! You are making memories that will last a lifetime for her. When I turned 13 my dad took us on an RV trip across the USA, I still have those memories today at 72 and that is part of reason I love to travel so much and we are fulltime RVers. I was fortunate enough to take the Tundra Tour all the way to the end before the landslide and spend 2 nights at one of the lodges there....talk about AMAZING! Denali National Park is like no other place in the USA. Thanks for showing us both McKinley and Princess Lodges! I hope to return to Alaska someday it never gets old!
Beautiful train footage. When we did Akaska in 2021, we stayed at McKinley Chalet Resort but not Ridgeview. Sophia is the perfect age for travel. She is old enough to appreciate it but young enough that she still wants to spend time with you.
I worked at McKinley Chalet last summer, which allowed me to spend 100 days in Denali/Healy. I experienced incredible peace, tranquility, nature, and breathtaking views-it was truly enchanting.
The whitewater rafting company does 2 tours, one full on whitewater and one with smaller rapids where they do the paddling, which is what we did. It's fun! You should definitely try it.
That brings back memories! My wife & I took a Princess Land/Sea cruise-tour a number of years ago. Flew into Anchorage. Rode the same train (on Princess cars) to Talkeetna. Took an air tour there. Took the bus to Princess' Mt.McKinley lodge. Took a shuttle bus to Whittier where we boarded the Sapphire Princess. Proceeded down the inside passage via College Fjords, Glacier National Park, Skagway, Juneau, & Ketchikan. Disembarked in Vancouver, B.C. & flew to Denver to catch the flight back to Maryland. Wonderful trip, Lotsa fond memories. Hafta find a way to convert my mini-video tapes to a currently viewable format.
The train was the most spectacular vacation I ever took. I spent the entire trip on the open air car in complete awe of how stunning Alaska is… highly recommend this!
Robert Frost poem ‘Birches’. “When I see birches bend to left and right across the lines of straighter darker trees, I like to think some boy’s been swinging them”. My father used to try doing that on birch trees when he was younger
You both look like you are having a great time. I was in that park 2 years ago and I have just booked an Alaska cruise for 2026 with Regent. It is going to be hard to wait that long.
We made that train ride to Denali a few weeks ago. We had perfect weather, and got to see Denali with zero cloud obstruction. Visiting Denali was one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. We only caught a glimpse of one wild moose on our entire trip, and no bears.
Quick question foe you about the accommodations, I read it is $50 a night for upgraded rooms or $100 a night for suites. The $50 ones looks like they are in the lower campus, would you suggest that for people with mobility issues? Since you have been there twice, I thought you might know.
My husband and I, along with his parents and sister, did this same cruise tour back in 2022. We stayed in the lower campus and the rooms were very comfortable, and we caught the shuttle a lot because I have scoliosis, so long walks are sometimes a challenge. You can request to be put on the lower floor of the building, which is what my father in law did. No stairs or steps to deal with in our case. I would definitely recommend the lower campus.
May I ask, and you don't have to answer and I would totally understand. How old is Sophia? She reminds me of my 2 oldest but mostly my youngest. lol She's 25 the other 2 are 31 and 35. She reminds me SO MUCH of my kids.
Who knows if she will answer as for the longest time she never mentioned her grandchildren. Sofia acts like she’s a little older than she is with just that “attitude” if you know what I mean. If I had to guess, she’s probably 10 and already drinking coffee. All I can say is I wanted a girl but so happy to have had three sons.
question: I noticed it didn't look like you had your personal bag with you when you walked to the back of the train or the dining car. Is it safe to leave our bag under the seat while we walk around?

WoW Sophia is one lucky girl. I would image her saying Best Summer Ever. hugs
Nothing compares to riding the train to Denali!
That kid is a hoot😂
Beautiful trip!

I haven’t been to Alaska. Thanks for the videos
Sophia is such a nice young lady and you two are definitely making beautiful lifetime memories ❤❤

What a wonderful experience for Sophia! I would love to take this train and see Denali!

this looks like an amazing trip Alaska has never been on our bucket list but I think it will be now

Another lovely video xx
This seems like a great way to take a nice scenic trip
Off topic - your hair has grown back so pretty!

Love the scenic train ride

Would love this trip🎉
I'm cruising to Alaska, for the third time, next week...
I will be doing some EXPLORING for EXCURSIONS!
Hey Alisa, when is your cruise through Alaska. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We made that train ride to Denali a few weeks ago. We had perfect weather, and got to see Denali with zero cloud obstruction. Visiting Denali was one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. We only caught a glimpse of one wild moose on our entire trip, and no bears.
Looks like alot of fun
Mesmerizing
Great video ❤❤❤❤
Great Video
Thank you
For me a moose would top it off! 🤗 Thanks for sharing 😊
where you assigned your seats or did you get to select them?

UGH yes that was Cotton Wood. I'd need to double/triple dose Benadryl (sp?) Yes, I've done it before. Not wise for sure.
I rode the train in Holland America's cars on the Alaska Railroad
question: I noticed it didn't look like you had your personal bag with you when you walked to the back of the train or the dining car. Is it safe to leave our bag under the seat while we walk around?
Absolutely, we felt safe leaving it.
does the cost of the train include the price of the overnight room? I'm taking a cruise in the spring and trying to figure it all out
Great video. I can't imagine ice cream in Alaska. Was that $9.99 for a double scoop of Ice Cream?
I want a train vacation from Florida up the Eastern Seaboard. What to you recommend Alisa?
I should probably know this but did you book the train on your own or is it through Holland?
With the cruise tour through the cruise line, we did the train from Fairbanks to Anchorage with 2 nights at Denali.
When was this? Also how did Sophia get to go?
So how much is this train ride?
Love the video, but really hard hearing you over the background noise. ❤❤❤
6 million acres not miles😊
Love Sophia watching SSSniperwolf
Denali size - Acres, not Square miles !
Slightly incorrect. It is 9,492 square miles. It is 6,000,000 acres.
The princess train was not nearly that nice.
