    Hi Kayla,
    Thanks for sharing these tips! I wanted to share the issue I'm having with cutting some African print fabric. I've been using the cotton setting and the Maker has been cutting too deep and only on the left side--so frustrating. I have to say that Cricut was very helpful and sent me a new blade and new fabric mats. Unfortunately, neither has helped thus far. I will try using other settings like the washi tape and less pressure as you suggested and hope it helps...

    Your tips are always relevant, Kayla! My most-used solution to cutting problems is to check before unloading the mat; if the design is not cut completely through the material, I hit the "Go" (Cricut logo) button again and just re-cut using the same settings. I have some card stock which is always problematic, and I've used all of your ideas, so thanks!

    Two options for detailed cardstock:
    Mirroring the image, because one side was smoother and the other more textured
    Rotating (for me 90 degrees), which stopped some of my angled flowers from ripping just based on which direction the blade was pulling.
    Hope that makes sense! Isn't working for some new paper I'm using which is why I'm here, but has saved me on one important project.

    • @GrooveYouVerse
      @GrooveYouVerse ปีที่แล้ว

      This actually makes sense! Because technically, natural movement is horizontal and vertical. So if you closer to those axis, it can have a smoother cut on the areas where it has ripped.

    Oh btw, I have been cutting fabric in a script/ cursive, and it is getting all torn up. I am going to make adjustments and order new blades. Can you recommend a beautiful cursive font that might be wider for wedding related items. I want to make and sell. I was using Gravura and it must be too thin. what cap replaces the standard fine point blade? red? I have these and they list degrees of cuts. shallow, standard, and deep cut. I'm cutting 110 lb card stock. the first 2 cut great, then they got a little jagged. I'm attempting to make a shadow box. pine trees, deer, houses with windows etc.
    It works better than my silhouette cameo, but wondering if I need to replace the blade.?

    My Cricut air 2 went from cutting everything beautifully to cutting nothing!! I tried just about everything new matt new blades, cleaning rollers, housing outside and just inside at top, calibrated twice and still nothing. I then sprayed into the housing some mylee spray, pumped the blade up and down blotted and tapped till housing dry. Now its back to cutting everything beautifully. I got the machine second hand so no warranty so I'm relieved it's doing its job. Mylee spray came from amazon.

    • @deanna777
      @deanna777 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I will be trying this. I also bought mine second-hand from someone who upgraded to a maker this last Christmas. I'm a newbie but have had success with everything that I've tried... until now. My husband is the SRO at my old high school. So when the football coach offered to pay me to make motivational stencils for the boy's weight room, I agreed happily. I'm so thankful that I told him that I wouldn't charge for my time because I'm already a week past due. I've tried cricut stencil vinyl, Duck brand removable vinyl , a new blade, clean mat, less clean mat, and every setting that I can find recommended online. It's dragging and messing up every time. AARRGGGG!!! I'm super frustrated. It makes me that much more aggravated because I gave my word to make this for someone other than just myself.
      Sorry, just venting I guess. What I meant to say was
      THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE TIP!!! 🙃

      @maureenlee2277 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@deanna777 is worth a try because I had nothing to lose because nothing worked till I used that spray. It's good for cleaning and I use it on earrings, removing sticky stuff from lakes on light bottles. It could be a bit of debris caught in the blade housing so then the blade will not perform how it should hence it may well be doing what mine was doing. Every material I could use was ripped and destroyed. I was so delighted with the outcome that's why I posted it on here as it may help someone else. Mine is still cutting and I'm using blades I thought eye no good but they ate working fine. It cuts everything now phew. I clean the blade while it's out with the spray as well as the housing. Let me know if it works for you. Fingers crossed xxx

      I don’t throw away any mats. Once a mat has lost all stickiness after cleaning it. Put painters tape around the mat. Use Aileens tack it over and over. Mix 1 part of the glue and 1 part water. Less glue for less stickiness. Use a sponge brush and paint a thin coat on the mat. Let dry over night . The next morning you have a new mat

I'm well pleased because they're is no doubt its so annoying wasting so much material. I was ready to give in after trying numerous tips, settings etc. Hope it helps c

    I have always heard and read that piercing aluminum foil with the blade does sharpen it. Now I do not know what to think. My blade cut better when I used the foil, so I think it does sharpen...

      I learned to cut foil with my dull scissors, so I believe it will sharpen these blades as well.

    my circuit drags. and will not cut clean. I have cleaned the board, put a new blade in and use Orcle vinyl. I never had an issue before. I have cleaned the blade, I have ordered new blades, boards and vinyl, what can I do in the meantime?

    ive just purchased my Cricut Maker ( 2 weeks old) it hasn't Donne a lot of work and trying to intricate cuts its useless. I think my Cricut Joy cuts a lot better. Surely I don't need to purchase a new blade yet. I always use quality stock

    I have a maker 3 and normally if a design I use has lots of cuts I use the intricate setting and it usually always cuts out great. Except yesterday and today. I put 6 designs to cut . I had some cut fine and some that didnt cut all the way. One cut all but one spot. I changed papers. I even tried once to add more pressure. I changed paper and tried some other designs and one of them cut fine the other it cut in some places and tor in other. So what do you do when it tears and doesnt cut in some places? My mat seems sticky. I am thinking of either changing the mat and or blade? Do you have any suggestions?

    Dam i thought this was where i needed to go. My problem is all my paid svgs do not open clean in design space. I see a circle but it cuts very wonky like a bashed pea. I can see a shape right infront of me on the screen its closed but it cuts open and not joined like the number 6 with gaps. Its pissing me off. What do i do? Its all purchased svgs from any downloadable shop the shapes upload wonky and not clean but cut 10 times worse than im seeing them on screen. Im ready to smash the machine.

    Aluminum foil does actually sharpen your blade. It doesn’t do miracles but it works. There’s ton of info and videos on it.

      Hey don’t let it get to you. I’m new to Cricut and i’m female but I’ve seen a few videos by male Cricut users and was delighted to see that. Coming from mostly an interest in cardmaking, it’s very rare to see men represented so I was pleasantly surprised to see a few into digital die cutting. If I remember which channels I’ll mention them. One in particular had a few comments from men that stood out because they were happy to see other men that are also into it.
      My long distance boyfriend has been asking about mine as he’s never seen them before. He’s pretty intrigued. We both have 3D printers and he’s noticing the similarities, obviously they do very different things but software wise is pretty similar. He might just get one for himself.
      I don’t really get why it’s dominated by women, only that maybe many guys haven’t heard of them because they’re not coming from a card making or sewing background. Anyways I wish you all the luck with yours, enjoy it, they seem like great machines. I’m enjoying mine so far as a newbie. There’s a lot you can do with them.
