Hi Abbi. Loved your informative video. So I am cutting out Snowflake Confetti with the Cricut on Med cardstock setting. I am using white glossy cardstock that probably is pretty close to the right weight for the medium setting. It only passes once. They measure about .60 of an inch. They are a bit detailed. The Cricut is doing a pretty good job with these, however I have to pick at each single snowflake to scrape it off the mat as well as still having to poke out the little inner designs of the snowflake. The residue left on the standard grip mat is still quite a bit of chards etc. I welcome any advice you may have that could save me time while keeping the design in tact. I love how they look but is taking at least 5 minutes to pull off and poke out each flake, never mind cleaning the mat afterwards etc. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you -- your tips definitely assisted! Especially educating me on selecting Cardstock for Intricate Cuts -- what a difference! I'm using 80 # Parklane Solid Core and changed from 80 lb Cardstock to Cardstock for Intricate Cuts AND.....no more tearing! Thank you!

I have a question about the Recollections brand foil card stock paper. I had trouble cutting this card stock paper on my Cricut Maker because I couldn’t find any “foil card stock” when I went to “browse materials” so I chose holographic card stock and it didn’t cut through. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Should I have typed in “paper” to get more choices.? Thank you for the great video. It was very helpful.
Did you try typing in just foil? I have also heard that the material lists vary between the maker and maker 3 as in some are just not there. So you may want to try creating your own setting just for foil cardstock if it isn't in your list. I know there are some videos here with Abbi that explain how to set that up. Also I saw a tip today that says if you put the foil cardstock face down and mirror your design you will get a cleaner cut. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to do that in the near future.
You can also try not removing the mat and push go again. This way it will cut a second time in the same place. Just make sure you do not remove the mat as it will not cut again exactly the same if you do.
What about plain card stock printer paper. I am thinking about using it for earring cards. Where I can print my logo on the inkjet then cut it out on the machine. I do noot know anything about Cricut machines.thanks
@Abbi Kirsten Gillespie thanks i found it on your channel and have made it now but my goodness i really really struggled with the blue layer, the front piece of the blue layer, i wasted so much cardstock, tried every setting possible, finally had to use a really thick cardstock, set to heavy on the material settings with less pressure which did the job about 80% i still had tearing but had to a patch up job with the good pieces i managed to do.
Do you have any suggestions for Michael's Recollections 110# heavy cardstock. I have tried everything, changing the pressure, new blade, cleaning the mat etc. I am cutting a square shape and it cuts fine, EXCEPT the corners. Each corner kinda crumples and bends and I sell the cards, and feel like it would be tacky to sell something like that to a customer. :( Can someone help please?
Thank you very much for all of the tips!! Very helpful!! A few months ago I had the tearing problem and cleaned my blade, clean my mat and changed the material type. Then I changed the pressure in the materials setting. I still had the same problem so I bought a new blade. Works great except it’s cutting through into the mat!🤦♀️ is there a way to go back to factory settings?
You must use a mat when cutting cardstock. Cricut makes Smart Vinyl that can be cut without a mat, but to my knowledge that is the only thing that can.
I love your tutorials, so simple and helpful to follow. I need advice for the best setting for cutting double sided pearlised card with intricate cuts, making wedding invitations. Can I use a deep point blade so save the number of cuts?
Sometimes yes, test cuts are the best way. If you are new and overwhelmed with your Cricut machine my free beginners workshop can help. abbikirstencollections.lpages.co/cec-registration-page/ :)
I just can't do it, I have tried all the settings you've told me. I have 65 lb cardstock from Michaels, tried all the settings and it's still ripping. i don't want to give up, but don't know what else to do. :0(
Thank you! I just got a cricut and can’t cut anything. Nothing is cutting all the way through. I’ve played with pressure and it doesn’t work. Cardstock cut 2x still wasn’t cut through all the way!
To prevent curling, I find it helpful to flip my mat over and while gently pressing down on the paper pull the mat away from the cardstock instead of trying to pull the paper off the mat.
This is very timely. I have this problem on the project I'm working on now and it's driving me nuts! I'm going to try your suggestions when I wrangle the beast (Cricut machine) tomorrow. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for this! I changed my blade and switched from the green to the blue mat and finally SUCCESS! 💖💖
Wonderful! You are so welcome!

What do you when it's cutting thought the mat I'm using a lightweight card stock
You may want to double-check your pressure on your material setting :)

Will a 100lb glitter scrapbook card stock by crafters square work
It depends on the projects and the settings you are using but yes it is possible to cut glitter cardstock. Its one of my favorites to use :)

Mats do get cut. If it's cutting the mat too much use less pressure in the drop down she shows after selecting your material.
How do I get it to feed normal cardstock without the mat?
You must use a mat when cutting cardstock. Cricut makes Smart Vinyl that can be cut without a mat, but to my knowledge that is the only thing that can.
I love your tutorials, so simple and helpful to follow. I need advice for the best setting for cutting double sided pearlised card with intricate cuts, making wedding invitations. Can I use a deep point blade so save the number of cuts?
Hi Elaine! I wouldn't use a deep point blade. Stick with the fine-point blade and use the Cardstock for Intricate cuts setting. :)
I'm new to my machine and the learning curve is STEEP. It seems like you have to go through a lot of TEST cuts to get the cardstock to cut properly 😮
Sometimes yes, test cuts are the best way. If you are new and overwhelmed with your Cricut machine my free beginners workshop can help. abbikirstencollections.lpages.co/cec-registration-page/ :)
I have noticed different svg designs on Etsy etc. that say "laser cut svg" can you still cut those on the Cricut with the proper settings? Thanks
Laser cut, I believe, is for laser cutting machines. Cricut is not a laser cutting machine.
I just can't do it, I have tried all the settings you've told me. I have 65 lb cardstock from Michaels, tried all the settings and it's still ripping. i don't want to give up, but don't know what else to do. :0(
Hmm, your blade is new and in good condition? Sticky mat? Brayer tool? And what does your file look like?
Thank you! I just got a cricut and can’t cut anything. Nothing is cutting all the way through. I’ve played with pressure and it doesn’t work. Cardstock cut 2x still wasn’t cut through all the way!
Glad I could help!
When I use my scrapbook paper, everytime I take the paper off it'll bring it all up or it will spiral up. Advice?
To prevent curling, I find it helpful to flip my mat over and while gently pressing down on the paper pull the mat away from the cardstock instead of trying to pull the paper off the mat.

What's your favorite brand of smooth plain colored paper for intricate paper cuts
I love using the paper from 12x12 Cardstock Shop :)
♥
Am I the only one that has trouble cutting black paper? No matter what brand, weight or setting I choose, it never to seems to cut completely through.
I did but I change the settings manually and put it down in pressure but 2x
i wonder how much you have done for the environment with this video by saving on wasted material 😅❤
🤣 It can be so frustrating! I hope it helps lots of crafters!
I don’t believe you mentioned to not use white core?
You are an angel, i have a cricut machine and guess what? I don’t know how to use it 🫣🫣🫣thank God I found you 🙏
Aww, you are so welcome!
Very helpful, thank you!
