Unpopular Opinion: it’s more interesting to see College Gameday visit a unique small school than visit a big school they’ve already been to dozens of times.
North Dakota Friggin' State. These guys are unstoppable. Talk about a true dynasty. As a fellow FCS fan (James Madison) I am in awe of what they have done year in and year out.
Both of these teams should be in the B1G - I feel like they each would finish middle of the conference as they are right now - add more depth with extra scholarships as an FBS squad and they’d be insane
Lmao you gotta be kidding me B1G??? Both school enrollment combined is not even big enough for the B1G, they bring no market value or money to the conference. Stick with the Sunbelt, MAC, CUSA, & MWC. Those are the leagues they can compete in.
Noway, NDSU is the New England Patriots of College Football closely followed by Mount Union. The problem is people only watch the FBS when there is a lot of good football inb the lower rankings. NDSU is by far the most dominant team in college football. They play in the SEC of the FCS (MVC) a conference that has steadily beaten FBS teams and they have won 7 of 8 National Championships (they lost 1 in the playoff semi-finals). Mount Union plays in Division 3. They also play in the top conference in D3 and have beaten tough teams. Mount Union has won 13 championships since 1993 and has been runner up 8 times since 2003. Thats pretty impressive but I'd give NDSU the nod in terms of Dynasty greatness. Behind them I'd put Alabama. The problem with Alabama is they have championships given to them. These other teams play in real playoffs not a battle for ratings. When you have a real playoff system crazy things can happen and Alabama is shielded from that. Anyone remember what Utah did to Alabama and what Boise State did to Oklahoma, Oregon, Arizona, and TCU? Until the FBS gets a real playoff system their champions will still have the same taint surrounding them, not to mention all the years Alabama was given gifts from the BCS. I forgot to mention Pierre Garcon and Cecil Shorts III when to Mount Union.
@@ooo_Kim_Chi_ooo mount union does not play in the best conference for division 3 bud. They play in a shitty one for there level. @Tw1 Have there ever been any real FBS dynasties? Or, at least any that have been consistent like App State or NDSU? I'm not downplaying Alabama or anything, but North Dakota State would come out for blood just to prove a point. Scheduling the Bison is a lose-lose for any P5 team involved.
Right? These guys have kicked ranked FBS teams off their own field and gotten paid to do it. Not to mention they've kept their boot on the rest of the FCS's neck for damn near a decade. App St. got promoted, NDSU should too
@@paulsmallriver6066 I highly doubt money has anything to do with it. NDSU is one of those bandwagon magnets. They have plenty of revenue, just not the fortitude to take losses while adjusting to the new competition.
SmithN' Wesson money dictates this decision. If it would have been profitable it would already be done. The numbers aren't there to make it work. The fan base isn't large enough and that's just the fact. Not enough to fill a larger stadium, not enough to bring in the volume of ad revenue needed to pull it off. Big deal if it's been talked about, that don't prove diddly other that it don't pencil out.
They've received plenty of offers from FBS conferences; they just don't want to move up. They're perfectly happy dominating the FCS. From a logistical standpoint, it makes more financial sense for them to say FCS. There are a multitude of reasons why they don't want to move up, but their main thought process is basically, "why move up to the FBS and become a middling program and become an afterthought when we can be the best FCS program in the country and still get plenty of media coverage due to our consistent dominating success?" Can't say I blame them.
It would be a dream to see the Jacks be ready for the FBS level, maybe the Big 10 so we can give Nebraska a good slapping for what they've done to us. Maybe some day, and some day soon I hope.
They wouldn't work with the region. One of the motivating factors when SDSU moved to D1 was the fact NDSU moved up. It was also an extremely unpopular opinion here in brookings due to USD and Augustana both staying in D2. Looking back it was a better decision to move up. But we've one been D1 for 10 years. It's too soon to compete in other sports. It would mean leaving the summit league to join those conferences.
@@gopherfan118 the only way I could see either of these teams going up to FBS would be if they joined the Mountain West. Similar recruiting regions, and games wouldn't be too terribly far away. Besides, Boise State vs. NDSU would be fun to watch
All these comments saying that they should go to the big ten (or move up to FBS), my only argument is that outside of football and hockey, they may/not be at the level for other sports. But they can definitely still beat some Power 5 teams.
Jeff Gau in order to move to FBS, they would need to join another conference (that is in FBS), and they would need to move all sports, they can’t just change conferences for one sport.
Not nessasarily, Notre Dame is in the Big East in every sport except Football for example. It is definitely possible to have different sports being a part of different conferences

That’s why I’d much rather see it at Minnesota over Tuscaloosa in 2 weeks
