Love the idea of giving the flight attendant a Thank You Note or a candy bar, but I feel more comfortable doing this at the end of the flight as an appreciation for her excellent services.
Window seats are great, but on longer flights (5+ hrs) I like to get the aisle so that I can freely get up and walk around, stretch my legs, go to the bathroom, etc without having to wake someone up. That is the wooorst. I don’t sleep on planes at all so I feel completely stuck if someone next to me is sleeping and I can’t move around.
I totally agree with all of these being a travel enthusiast myself. Just to add on with clothes: my dad was in the Navy and he raised me to dress comfortable, but prepared for anything. The chance is unlikely, but if you were ever involved in a crash what would you want on your body and with you in case of survival? I always wear tennis shoes, a hat, socks, etc. and have my backpack close :)

Nicole - 5 Million Mile flyer and I have been surprised by all the "travel experts", whom I have researched, who have NEVER suggested this very simple and effective "travel tip"... Bring a pillowcase with you!... If you are on a longhaul flight (or even a shorter flight) and you are in a window seat and you want to rest your head and you've brought with you any kind of coat or jacket, place the jacket inside the pillowcase and... Voila... You have a (much) more comfortable pillow... 40 years of flying and I have never seen anyone (other than myself) do this... Also, when you get to your destination your pillowcase can be used to segregate any worn clothing items (socks, etc)... I'm aware of several other make-your-flight-more-enjoyable travel tips but as I don't provide travelogue videos professionally (I'm actually a TV producer), I don't want to sound too pedantic.
Excellent tips. Especially the noise cancelling headphones. They are a godsend. No more screaming toddlers, no more exhausting constant noise from the jet engines. If the landing is smooth and I hardly feel a bump, I make sure to say “nice touchdown” to the pilot. Good point about thanking the flight attendants. I’ll remember that.
As a frequent flyer with up to 100 travel days per year (for work), I can attest to 80% of these tips! And since I'm a gamer, I also like to bring a portable console with me. Sunglasses/Sleeping masks are also a must to promote a better nap. I don't mind packing a bit heavy as long as I have my comfort kit handy during tiring journeys.
I do agree that flight attendants are the sweetest cause when i was 10 one flight said to me while i was going to my seat " you're so cute " and that made my day and flight a lootttt better , i kept smiling throughout the flight by hearing that one sentence, the flight attendant who said that to me , I'm so thankful that u said that , i really appreciated it ❤❤
Hi Nicole! The Thank you note is such a great idea! Most people don’t realize that being a FA is not an easy job let alone that your a safety professional and that your responsible for the safety of that flight. So this definitely will make them feel so appreciated. Great ideas and tips as well! I’m def going to check out those headphones, great call! Take care! 😊
Great tips! Thanks! I also wear a very lightweight pull-over hoodie with a front pouch to secure my flopping arms during sleep. The hoodie over my head and eyes gives me that cocoon effect and replaces an eye mask.
Fantastic tips ! My suggestions are to invest in a pair of silicone ear plugs. They cost only a couple of dollars a piece and can be reused multiple times. They block out the aircraft engine noise and can be used in conjunction with noise cancelling headphones to block out the sound of the aircraft engines. They can be very relaxing to use. Them and the neck rests, the eye shades as well, help us to sleep.

For people who have neck problems, using a neck brace (the c-collar type that are used by EMS and hospitals after a neck/spine injury) may be a far more comfortable choice than using a neck pillow. I personally use the Aspen Vista one that I got after a neck injury as a result of a fall where I hit my head, neck and back as I fell backwards quite hard. Amazon does have them along with replacement pads and the awesome thing about it is the fact that it's adjustable with just a turn of a knob. However, it's a little pricey (about $60 for the brace itself). Just to attest to it's comfort level- once I get it on and sitting nice and comfy (about as well as you can considering how they seem to pack people like sardines in economy), I just let the brace take the weight of my head and pass out within 10 minutes. Although, as I have then slept so deeply and soundly, I may have spooked quite a few flight attendants as they ended up waking me up once we've landed and are at the gate. Although, they've also commented that the neck brace seemed to be so comfortable as I was so deeply asleep when they woke me up.
@@kayenicholson2225 I've tried but then the back of my neck hurts along with my head. With using a c-collar I am able to let the collar take the weight of my head and am able to sleep insanely deeply.

Love the idea of the thank you notes and gift cards. I had read that recommendation elsewhere and have already purchased my cards for my upcoming flights.
FA’s are remarkable! I was on a red eye flight that was a connecting flight for one passenger! The plane didn’t have many passengers and aside from the FA I was the only woman. At boarding time the FA told everyone that a young woman was getting on the plane with three children under the age of 5 who were all air sick! She offered to have the gentleman move forward and to collect “barf” bags from the seat backs and pass them back. They moved like greased lightning! Mom boarded and I took one child, mom kept the youngest and the FA took the last one! She carried that child on her hip the entire flight even while serving drinks and snacks! She was remarkable!
I do so many of these things too!!! My neck pillow is actually a blow up one which is great because it saves space! I know you went to Peru last year too and there I got one of the blanket/shaw/scarf things that I like to bring because its part of your wardrobe as well as a blanket on the flight!
I pack a few doggy poo bags. Sometimes it takes them awhile to get around to picking up trash especially on longer flights and I like to keep my small space neat (especially if I carry on an apple or banana or chew gum or something).

I don't how many crew members are on board...just make a whole bunch???...sorry I'am such a Rookie , but would love to show them high appreciation.
Bruh staying hydrated and booking a window seat is brave. I had to start booking idle seats because I was trying to stay hydrated :( now I've been trying out trains and I don't feel as bad about getting up
I dont mind getting up and moving. It makes the time go faster and you shouldn't stay still for your body that long. Unless someone is sleeping, it's not a big deal.
So glad to have watched this! I always think that travel is made easier when you have the best travel gear and essentials too. The bento bag from Nomad Lane is my best carry-on bag for travels like this. Thought I'd share it with you, too! :)
I also have a friend who is an FA and she got me in the habit of thanking FAs with candy lol. I told my sister about it, and now she does it too. They have checked on us more, brought the other FAs over to say thank you, given us more drinks and snacks, etc. Def kinda a bribe but also their job is WILD, so they deserve the thanks/candy!!
I actually am the opposite and try not to eat on planes as it spikes your glucose levels because you can't get up and walk around after to lower the spike. Glucose spikes are linked to a lot of things like wrinkles/aging, mood swings, inflammation etc. I do try and drink water though as that's important! Also, that last one is so cute! would never have thought of that!!!
More tips: instead of buying a cover for your suitcase to make it more recognizable, put a t-shirt on top of the bag. it works just the same, but make sure to use a unique t-shirt, for example, a t-shirt from a place you have visited. also, make sure that the shirt is not too special because it might rip on certain conveyor belts. if you do not want to sacrifice a t-shirt, or you can't find one, try tying a bandana on the top of your bag, where the people tie your luggage tags. if you are using a neck pillow, secure it on the top of your carry-on. If it is a suitcase, tie it to the bottom, and secure it tightly. If you are using a backpack, then tie it on the handle. instead of buying an earphone splitter, just use a better quality version of the earphones they give on planes, though some people do not like these, they are not that expensive, and can work the same. if you need things like gum during your flight, buy it in places or stores like stop and shop, because they are cheaper there than in the airport, where things are like 3x more expensive. Try to only go to the airport main shops unless you really need something. Even on your long road trips or car rides, bring a pack of goldfish or something else that is salty. first, lick the salt off of the cracker and then eat it.
These were very helpful thank you what what caught my attention is the note for the flight attendant that's really true you can change somebody else's mood day or life that was great tips thank you
i'm watching this not even because i have any plans of flying anywhere but because i miss it! :( a tip i heard from someone is to actually wear something nice enough when you're travelling internationally, its not canon obviously but it usually helps with immigration officers etc if you look reasonably smart in attire
I bought noise cancelling bluetooth headphones like last year in october, before on my last flight i didnt have any so the airplane headphones were very uncomfortable, im traveling again in 3 days and im super excited! For the first time ive made a travel checklist and a list of things to do on my flight
Good video. I especially agree with the noise cancelling headphones and with the TSA Pre-check, though I’d suggest instead of TSA Pre-Check as a stand alone ‘product’ at USD $85, if you are a citizen of the USA, consider ‘Global Entry,’ at USD $100 for five years. GE includes TSA Pre-check and adds a feature that makes it incredibly easier to enter the USA from a foreign country. While I always have enjoyed the window seats for the reason Nicole mentions, it is also true that (unless you are young and limber) at the point that people fall asleep, it is harder to climb over the sleeping neighbor, so I almost always go for the aisle seat. To be sure, I almost always fly business class on long haul flights or first class on domestic flights, so some of these suggestions are moot, but overall, the video is spot on.
Love all the tips, thank you, I have procastinated about getting a good set of head phones. Did not see the link for them though. Can you put it again? Thanks how nuch were they?$
I’m going flying for the first time ever, I’m 15 and absolutely mortified. I have no one with me so I’m super worried. This is helping me calm my nerves
Good tips! Another one to keep in mind is don't take your shoes off during the flight - especially a long flight. Your feet swell up during the flight and if you take your shoes off, they will be uncomfortable when you put them back on.
quick tip if your traveling with 2 people or alone book your year with one person at the window and one at the aisle, and leave the middle seat empty, if your traveling alone if there’s a row with someone already in the window or aisle go in the window if they are aisle and aisle if they are window, you have a good chance of having extra space from that empty seat
On a long flight, bribing your flight crew is a great idea.. So is pillow, ear plug & eye cover. Then first time I did that, I nap for 1 hr on a 2hr flight morning flight, it was Amazing..
Excellent tips. Thank you for thew last one. I always had have the idea to do something like that but for my next trip definetly I will do write a thank you card for the fly attendant.
Funny coincidence, I was deliberating on booking seat in advance and you addressed that right away. I am flying from BLR to NRT then NRT to LAX. Both, of these flights is pretty much over the pacific- but I am travelling solo so I feel sitting near the window will be convenient, since I don't have to move out of the way for the person next to me! I'll have to look for a good neck pillow and research on the limits of bringing snacks! Thanks for the video!
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, but I checked your channel and you’ve come so far!! I’m looking forward to when the pandemics over so we can travel again ❤️
Thanks A lot! I have a trip to Florida with mu cousin and it would be so helpful if i found tips. I finally found some good ideas for flying safely and comfortably.
Nice Review..What is the brand and model of the headphones please? How is Overall Performance/Features/Comfort/Build Quality of the Headphones please? How much the headphones please?Where you bought the headphones please?
As well as headphones I now also carry some foam earplugs and a face mask. This is because I once was seated next to a man who had the most appalling body odour, and the flight was full, so I could not be given a different seat. I was literally almost in tears knowing I would be sitting there for three hours having to smell that; it was triggering my 'fight or flee' response. I remembered I had some foam earplugs with me, so I stuck one in each nostril and put my scarf over my head and feigned sleep for the three hours. Now, with Covid masking very acceptable I can use a mask to cover my 'nose plug' solution, and not look silly. (I react to some perfumes, too, so the smells of other people in a confined space can be a real issue).
Giving gift cards to flight crew is a good idea. Other things I give are cookies, candy, nuts, instant coffee, and instant hot chocolate. Boxes of tea are also good. Almost everything I give them is gourmet and made in Europe
On longer flights, I bring slippers and take my shoes off. I also wear loose fitting socks. This helps the circulation in my lower legs and makes recovery faster, and is so much more comfortable than wearing shoes.
Definitely agree with these tips. FOR SURE on the water bottle! The airplane water is dirty and unsanitary and you will get dehydrated through airports with only that little water. Ah, travel is the best! Flying soon and just getting more and more excited!
Once when I was on a flight I drew a photo of a rose 🌹and said thank you 🙏.Then they gave me a shout out on the intercom! and let me sit in the pilot seat!😁 Moral of the story give a thank you card to your flight attendant!
Take your own bed pillow. It's a pillow for the plane, the layover and the hotel. You know it, you love it and it's also great for holding a couple of things you want to access. That way you just chuck your bag up in the hold and get seated with your pillow bag. Then decant into the pocket and enjoy your precious bed friend.
ready your comment gave me an idea- sew a pillow case with a large front pocket. Maybe a drawstring to close rather than the internal fold over. Dual use then as a laundry bag when dirty. Hmmm then need 2 for when one is dirty. Cheers!
These are all excellent tips and I can say myself that I have actually done a few of these things. One thing however about Precheck. I'd only get it if you fly round-trip at least 3 times a year. $85 for five years is really nice, but really only worth it if you travel a ton. Especially great if you're a business traveler AND you travel for leisure. I flew 4 round trips this year (RFD-LAS 2x, ORD-CVG-DUB, ORD-SYR) and Precheck sure would have been valuable.
If I have extra space I'll carry on a pair of open slippers when it's too stuffy or warm potentially on the plane. That way I'll have some fresh air when needed as opposed to the walking shoes?
I have to go on a at like 545 and I gotta wake up at 230 and it’s like a 2 flight to the layover place then it’s like a 3 hours flight to the real place, why does going to Florida so hard!!
• When flying dress up, but dress comfortably. It's a balancing act. NO shorts, yoga pants, clothing with holes, sweats, flip flops/open toes etc... . Make an effort, you never know who you'll meet and where that meeting could lead. • Enjoy your trip including the airport. The Centurion Lounge, Escape Lounge and Sky Lounges are great places to relax, get a drink and bite to eat and just relax before boarding. I generally am at the airport 3+ hours prior to my flight. • Windows on planes especially international should always be closed. People don't want excessive light when trying to sleep. I have been on flights were an entire cabin was furious with a single passenger who kept their window open the entire flight. Just be courteous and conscious of others. • Global Entry and CLEAR are your best friend. Global Entry excludes TSA Pre ✔️ and allows you the bypass long customs lines. CLEAR allows you even faster access through TSA Pre ✔️.
Love the snack idea.... About to fly international for the first time and I'm a really picky eater with a low sugar level so I need to constantly maintain sugar level and also not compromise on my meals😉
Great Video!! I really wanna travel someday, to see the world would be amazing. I always have doubts though cause I have anxiety/social anxiety, autism and dyspraxia so I always feel like I will never have the confidence and independence. But I just hope I get there someday.
Another hack is to book the seat next to one of the doors. Either in the front or in the back if it is a big plane. More leg freedom and you will be the first to get food and be able to leave the plane after business class passengers. Saving time and it is more comfy.
I make my well loved almond pound cake in a smaller size that works well for several attendants. Last time my sister bought several types of brittles (i.e. peanut) made in our home town. Right now I'm in Peru but have no idea what to get the flight crew.
Fly emirates! It has everything, blankets, pillows, headphones, pajamas! (For first class sorry lol), and it has cameras on the tip of the plane and on the tail so it’s very entertaining!
Love the idea of giving the flight attendant a Thank You Note or a candy bar, but I feel more comfortable doing this at the end of the flight as an appreciation for her excellent services.
I agree. It'll feel more authentic.
Better to write them an online review.
@@dicktracy5066 Why not do both?
yes, but if you of it at first, then she/he will take better care of you.

YES! I got stuck on a 13hr flight & couldn't get around the passed out man in the aisle seat. Was too polite to wake him up which is my fault. 😹
Big relate
That's me as well.
Yep I Hate longs flights I won't be getting a window seat bc I ge ansy so I like to get up and stretch, walk around

What kind do you bring?
@@zenseed75 One of those small Halloween candy sized bags of mixed chocolate bars, usually!
@@amkii2 great idea. Thank you.
Love the thank you note suggestion! The attendants work so hard, you’re absolutely right. And why not spread thanks and positivity 🙌💕
These tips are awesome! My family has TSA precheck and CLEAR and its super nice to skip the whole line!
More tips:
instead of buying a cover for your suitcase to make it more recognizable, put a t-shirt on top of the bag. it works just the same, but make sure to use a unique t-shirt, for example, a t-shirt from a place you have visited. also, make sure that the shirt is not too special because it might rip on certain conveyor belts. if you do not want to sacrifice a t-shirt, or you can't find one, try tying a bandana on the top of your bag, where the people tie your luggage tags.
if you are using a neck pillow, secure it on the top of your carry-on.
These were very helpful thank you what what caught my attention is the note for the flight attendant that's really true you can change somebody else's mood day or life that was great tips thank you
Why haven’t I brought a blanket with me on a plane!!! Changed my life
right?! game changer
i'm watching this not even because i have any plans of flying anywhere but because i miss it! :(
a tip i heard from someone is to actually wear something nice enough when you're travelling internationally, its not canon obviously but it usually helps with immigration officers etc if you look reasonably smart in attire
Noise cancelling headphones are a MUST! I have some in my Amazon cart, waiting for prime day 🥰
I’m flying United tonight and I think I’m gonna try the thank you note idea! Even if I don’t get a extra treat, it’s still nice!
You must be really rich if you can spend 14x more per flight so that you don't have to step over people
@@DrLifeGamer Are you bothered by someone who can afford to fly in business class on long haul trips? Why?
@@DrLifeGamer Now you are just being silly.
@@DrLifeGamer very silly.
*Omg you are so under rated!!!*
Crazybit_ aw! Gosh that means so much to me!! Thank you! Hope you’re subscribed so you can follow along! ☺️
Good tips! Another one to keep in mind is don't take your shoes off during the flight - especially a long flight. Your feet swell up during the flight and if you take your shoes off, they will be uncomfortable when you put them back on.
Use compression socks and everything will be fine. I always do
If I'm on a fifteen hour flight I'm sorry but I am going to take my shoes off
ALSO THE FLOOR IS DISGUSTING! I NEVER TAKE MINE OF... use slipons you will be fine.
quick tip if your traveling with 2 people or alone book your year with one person at the window and one at the aisle, and leave the middle seat empty, if your traveling alone if there’s a row with someone already in the window or aisle go in the window if they are aisle and aisle if they are window, you have a good chance of having extra space from that empty seat
Thank u for this vid...watching from South Africa 🇿🇦
girl i also LOVE airports- idk why i feel like theyre basically ur house and its also a mall
A must watch for anyone looking to travel
Wow thank yo!!
every time i go on the window seat seeing the view makes me feel relax and calm cause of how pretty it is
I liked your whole vibe and how staright forward your video was! thank you so much I enjoyed it and I wish you safe joyful trips.
When watching your down loaded movies on the plane how do you prevent your phone's battery from draining?
love that "thank you note" tip !
Sorry about having to go to LAX.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, but I checked your channel and you’ve come so far!! I’m looking forward to when the pandemics over so we can travel again ❤️
I love the happiness. I will do the thank you card for the flight attendants
TSA Precheck is only for airports in the US, sounds very nice though
TRTL neck pillows are THE BEST!
I use a runner's backpack with a hydration bladder. The bladders come in 1 to 3 liter sizes.
the thankyou note for the flight attendants is the sweetest idea ever! deffo something i might do in the future! :)
Thanks A lot! I have a trip to Florida with mu cousin and it would be so helpful if i found tips. I finally found some good ideas for flying safely and comfortably.
Writing Thank you notes is an excellent tip. Love that ❤
Nice Review..What is the brand and model of the headphones please? How is Overall Performance/Features/Comfort/Build Quality of the Headphones please? How much the headphones please?Where you bought the headphones please?
That actually super helpful because im something super nervous on flight
I love that you have a snack cube! My tea bags are always breaking open and my bars smashed. I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of this.
Definitely agree with these tips. FOR SURE on the water bottle! The airplane water is dirty and unsanitary and you will get dehydrated through airports with only that little water. Ah, travel is the best! Flying soon and just getting more and more excited!
Once when I was on a flight I drew a photo of a rose 🌹and said thank you 🙏.Then they gave me a shout out on the intercom! and let me sit in the pilot seat!😁
Moral of the story give a thank you card to your flight attendant!
I prefer aisle on short flights as it gets me out quicker haha. These tips would be super useful for new flyers!
Last one is a game changer indeed. Thank you!
That way I'll have some fresh air when needed as opposed to the walking shoes?
very good advice! im traveling alone this saturday and i definitely needed this advice
I have to go on a at like 545 and I gotta wake up at 230 and it’s like a 2 flight to the layover place then it’s like a 3 hours flight to the real place, why does going to Florida so hard!!
I loved the way you made this video, the b-roll was so good!
That captain Sparrow blanket!😍🥰😂 I want one because I’m secretly in love with him!😍😂
haha its my favorite!
Thanks you for the great tips, very helpful for my trip to Nashville from Ireland nxt week.
Love the snack idea.... About to fly international for the first time and I'm a really picky eater with a low sugar level so I need to constantly maintain sugar level and also not compromise on my meals😉
The thank you notes are a nice touch because the flight attendants do work hard. Thanks for the helpful video.
Great Video!! I really wanna travel someday, to see the world would be amazing. I always have doubts though cause I have anxiety/social anxiety, autism and dyspraxia so I always feel like I will never have the confidence and independence. But I just hope I get there someday.
you can do it!
@@karenarlt7776 thanks 💙
TSA pre check sounds like a great idea !
Another hack is to book the seat next to one of the doors. Either in the front or in the back if it is a big plane. More leg freedom and you will be the first to get food and be able to leave the plane after business class passengers. Saving time and it is more comfy.
Good suggestion. The middle section may have an exit aswell, but it offers additional safety.
It can also be colder near the door which is something to consider.
I make my well loved almond pound cake in a smaller size that works well for several attendants. Last time my sister bought several types of brittles (i.e. peanut) made in our home town. Right now I'm in Peru but have no idea what to get the flight crew.
A lot has changed in 3 years (like paying extra for a window seat), but many ideas are very useful.
The headphones is definitely good advice. I NEVER thought about giving the attendants a gift card. My wife and I need to do that next time.
Love the lil gifts for the FA. I do have friends who are FAs. I will add this to my future flights. Thanks!
Love the thank you note idea!
Fly emirates! It has everything, blankets, pillows, headphones, pajamas! (For first class sorry lol), and it has cameras on the tip of the plane and on the tail so it’s very entertaining!
