Yes, I certainly did enjoy it. Addressing gender and the tendency of the author to set the story in his or her youth, I am presently reading the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov. Although he was born around the early 1920's, about the same as my parents, he is writing in the vast future of mankind. I think he makes a very good effort not to be overtly sexist in his assumptions. Of course, the argument could be made that we have no way of knowing how gender roles will be seen in such a large amount of time; for all we know, some worlds may regress in their way of thinking. But, still, I am impressed at how he resists the conditioning he must have undergone as he grew up and manages to tell a story where these attitudes are not dominant.
