"Such a delightful mystery! Death at the Excelsior is an unexpected gem from P.G. Wodehouse. The humor and suspense blend perfectly, making this a refreshing twist on the classic whodunit. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a mix of wit and mystery!"

Thank you so much for this story . As for the comments on narration . No one but no one can read Wodehouse like the late Johnathan Cecil . To me he was Wodehouse and after him your simply spoiled for anyone else. Thanks again 👏👏👍
@@VoltaireVI Nick Martin just 'reads' the stories. He doesn't put life into the characters. He doesn't 'act' the roles of the characters. After Jonathan Cecil he's a bit of a let-down.
Strange isn't it? I'm not sure that what you say applies to all British lit, but Wodehouse had an acute ear for the cadences of the English language as spoken in England - well by some at least! His humour is rooted in spoken language and it really doesn't translate well to the natural rhythms of an American accent. In the same way it is impossible to read Mark Twain (even for me, in my head, as a Brit) in a British English accent - his humour is inextricably bound up with the cadences of the language he grew up with.
Wish I could but I just can't listen to this rendition of Wodehouse in such an utterly wrong accent. Lacks all the subtleties, nuances, and glorious humour within intonation
Argh! I know Wodehouse spent a lot of time in the US but he was so quintessentially English that this toneless American voice jars so much I can’t listen to it.
Heard it before and Ms Pickett's theory is just as absurd as the first time I heard it. Sometimes an extra twist ruins the story. Also living as I do in Java I can attest that snakes can indeed jump, are masters at hiding and slipping about unnoticed. It would be a simple thing for it to slip out of the premises when the lady found the dead man on the floor since she obviously would have been focused entirely on that and not things in her periphery.
Also there's no way in heck that the poison delivery method would ever work in real life. It would have failed due to certain inherent characteristics which are common to the method proposed. The poison would have been removed from the delivery method ASAP leading to a different corpse and the poison would never have reached Captain Gunner.

Agree why are u watching the screen. Haven't opened my eyes since I started listening, even though I dislike the narrators accent. Give me English accents for Woodhouse.

Agreed on narration. The only alternative is Stephen Fry.
Nick Martin is also very good for the Jeeves and Wooster stories.

After what the British did to Wodehouse during and after WW2, it is entirely appropriate to have him narrated by an American voice.
Really clever and interesting ❤ Thank you 😃
Wodehouse has to be narrated by an Englishman.
Thank you 😊❤
I like this reader reading a science fiction story named "Manners Of The Age".
Love this! Great narrator! Great little story! Thank you. 😊 Truly a master comedian!!!
A slow and stilted narration with none of the tension a murder mystery should have.
I prefer British lit be narrated by Brits.

@@ceriselaville8668 I like this narrator, but agree with you.
Americans just cannot read PG convincingly. I am American but also an anglophile.
I found the narration easier to listen to when speeded up a bit. At what the settings said were normal it sounded like poor AI
Wodehouse has great stories. This is the wrong narrator.
😺👏👏👏 love PGWodehouse great narration 50:11
Good book, sounds like an AI Bot reading.
I disagree. For me, the narrator was fine.

Agree
It's being read by machine I think. Speed it up. It's easier to listen to and it's a good story
Robot narrator
If that’s ai, it’s amazingly good ❤

Terrible ending.i think it's impossible to put poison on a cats claws..let alone the cat not lick it...
Not to nitpick, but the illustration looks nothing like a dockside boarding house.
Shhh
Mark Nelson is the narrator, excellent. Thanks
“Mark nelson” must be the name of the AI program

It may not be AI generated, but narration is sadly just awful. Had to turn it off. Sorry to disappoint the creator.

An unusually unsatisfying storey recounted by a most unsatisfactory narrator !
❤️🇦🇺🦘👋🏻👍
No American can narrate any story good they ruin the story
Master of wit and Nazi sympathizer, PG Wodehouse.
Wrong voice for this story. 😢 can’t listen anymore
I can hardly listen to anyone besides Hugh Frasier anymore
Couldn’t get past the first few seconds. No offence.

Godawful 'narration'
Has sharp clicks at the end that make this NOT a good sleep story.
Terrible narrator, couldn't listen.
Sorry, British authors should be read by British voices, not American accents.
Not n an American accent sorry PG is quintessentially English.
Cant listen to this. An American voice is so wrong for this
Computer-like voice.
