During the shooting challenge, it was saying to press only Y to shoot because that's how you "quick shoot." If a target is close enough (highlighted white), you don't need to aim. You can stand there and just tap Y. It wasn't working because you kept aiming. Hope this helps!

Not just colonial. Reales were one of the currencies in Spain and its Colonies until the end of the 19th century. Reales were one of the more practical units - Maravedís, Escudos, etc. date back to that time as well. The difference is their value depending on their content of silver/gold, their purity over time, etc.. The concept of a single minor unit (like cent) and a single major unit (like Dollar) wasn't popular back then and even less so a fixed ratio of 1 cent being 1/100th of a dollar. So back in the day people had to be quite agile when trading, calculating prices and chage in various coin values. I much prefer the current system. ^.^
Don’t forget to do the synchronization points whenever you are at a new location (the little eagle symbols on your map) They are very helpful for fast traveling, especially as the story progresses when you sometimes need to sail all the way to the other side of the map for just 1 or 2 missions, it’s always handy to be able to fast travel for those incredibly long distances.
The sea battle was amazing, last time i felt such excitement was in Skyrim, running away from the dragon in Helgen for the first time, that feeling of excitement is the GOAT
Yeah the sea combat in Black Flag is unmatched by any ship combat to date. How they went from this sailing and ship combat to the trash in Skull and Bones is unforgivable.

Trinidad was once connected to the South American mainland but broke off thousands of years ago. However, some South American animals like the ocelot would have remained and survived on the new island. So I suppose some of the other islands also have Ocelots on them.
Hey Liz! Just a quick tip on the treasure map coordinates: The numbers on the treasure map correspond with a location, but don't provide an exact location. For example, the one you were viewing was (749,625). All that tells you is that the treasure is located in the island of "Salt Lagoon." The coordinates are for the location symbol. That's why when you hovered over the Salt Lagoon symbol, it matched the exact coordinates of the treasure map. So in essence, the coordinates only reveal the location you have to search. Once you get there, you pull out the map and look for the landmark. It could be anywhere on that island.
When in an open fight, wait for an attack, block it, perform execution, which will give you a one shot streak for any other enemy present, except for the big brutes. You have to always break their defense first or use pistols, or smoke bombs. Nice playthrough, keep it up! :)
woo hoo!! Part 2!!! , Goat!! as for the lyrics you can either look them up on the menu or maybe if you turn on close captions? idk if that's an option in the menu. The sea shanties are awesome though, makes sailing and getting materials to improve the ship more fun or if you're trying to 100% the game.

Oh, this is great, now we're sailing! You're truly the GOAT, Liz! That moment when you take control of the ship, that's what gaming is all about. And when you hear the sea shanties sung by your crew. Perfection. Just a little tip: whenever you see that little eagle icon, go there and synchronise the location. It will make the map of surrounding area look so much richer, you will be able to see anything in the said area. And yes, it's totally possible to explore ship wrecks, this game is awesome like that. 🙂

Dead bodies will alert enemies. Carrying bodies allows you to hide them away from view. In addition to areas shaded in red being restricted, many roof tops are as well. Basically you need to remain out of sight of guards. And whatever you do, don't kick the goats. 🐐
Hi, Great that you discovered this gem of a game :) If you want to explain some of the mechanics that you struggle with, here is a bit of explanation (they are explained better in the 1st and 2nd games). After all, AC Black Flag is arguably the least Assassin game of the old style AC games (before Origins), and mainly focuses on Pirating. But it is one of the best games of the series Gameplay wise. Those enemies on the roofs are guards that protect the place from robbers that would use roofs for approach, and since honest citizens does not go there, you are immediate suspect. Those blue dots on minimap while you are in combat are hiding places that you can use to lose pursuers (mainly haystacks), but enemies WILL search them if you hide in the yellow circle area of search (again, shown on minimap as yellow underlayer). Sidemissions (like those from pigeon), should be done ASAP when you activate them, but should be available to start anytime. And the Viewpoints are great for fast travel + they reveal the nearby area for better navigation on minimap (in older games, you would not even get sidequests or location of treasures unless you synced the viewpoint first). That made me think of something I like to do when I'm playing games line AC, and it's based on an actual place, and since I'm from the Caribbean, this was particularly interesting to me. I looked up this island while playing this game its now called iguana Island you qill get to it soon, and there is a part with these beautiful waterfalls. So I pulled it up on Google maps and tried to see if it looked similar now and I was able to confirm. Anyway, that's just my weird habit when playing games based on real places lol

Use the d-pad buttons (I forget which direction) while sailing to control shanties. You can keep pressing it to cycle songs and one of them makes them stop as well. You can listen to shanties in travel speed as well. If you reduce speed, you gain more maneuverability, so if you need to quickly turn around, press B to slow down and once you've turned around, you can press A to speed back up. There's motionless, half sail, full sail & travel speed. Your ship is in a weak state so you'll need to upgrade it to gain more health, more weapons (and better ones that you already have). Sideways aiming is always broadside cannons (you get heavy shots too but that's not until you unlock them). Backwards aiming is for fire barrels, forwards aiming is for swivel shots (chain shots that stun/slow down ships you may be chasing). You'll also unlock mortars, a ram, etc. Another tip, if you want to stealth kill, make sure to use the d-pad to equip the hidden blades. Edward behaves differently when he has the swords equipped.
I am surprised that a muzzle loading singel shot pistol can fire so many times without being relaoded. One wonders why Mr Colt invented the revolver? Great video, thanks.
It can't - Edward is carrying multiple pistols. This is explained in the scene where you first get pistols from the Templars, they say the most they've seen a person carrying is 9. You can't carry 9, IIRC, but you carry four I think.
If I recall correctly, I think you can see the lyrics in the menu. It should be in with the shanties you collected, not entirely certain, but worth a look.
Assassin’s Creed is THA “GOAT!” I can’t help but laugh when you make a mistake because it reminds me of myself when I was learning to play them for the first time! 🤣 I honestly just gave up getting full synch after Revelations 😅 I’ve been playing them all in release order myself for the past 6 years off and on and I just finished Black Flag myself. Awesome story! But I still love the Ezio trilogy the most out of all so far and I think you might as well! Laissez les bons temps rouler de la Louisiane! 🐊😎🤘🏻
AC4 Black Flag is an amazing and fun game, and you make it fun to watch. Kind of like seeing a goat in the night, and realizing there probably were once goats on boats (since goats are not native to the Caribbean) 🐐🙀🦎😇
This really makes me want to play a very stealthy game! I always felt very accomplished in Cyberpunk when I completed missions without any combat, just stealth. I have a few AC games on Switch I have yet to play, so maybe those (when I’m done with my second RDR2 run haha).

You still ignore all those nice synchronization points. Imagine you find a treasure map for that island and can't fast-travel because you ignored the sync-point and have to sail for an hour or so to get to it.
No pirate game has ever gotten close to Black Flag or any game that has ship combat in it. Just a shame I suck at stealth because otherwise I'd love the AC games
When in the bushes or deep grass, whistle to attract guards for assassination. Also gorgeous when hiding in the closet u can whistle to attract them for assassination. That is stalking kill.

Black Flag was the first (and only) "Assassin´s" game I have played. Good game but really hated the office/modern crap thing. And the chanty "Running down to Cuba" was my favorit song in the game. =)

Make sure you climb the marked waypoints and synchronize like you did on the church steeple in Havana. They open up the map and reveal locations

Black Flag was the first (and only) "Assassin´s" game I have played. Good game but really hated the office/modern crap thing.
And the chanty "Running down to Cuba" was my favorit song in the game. =)
