Probably too long ago to mention, though I just came across this tonight, but the rock at 6:13 is a "puddingstone". Except for a piece of bif--banded iron formation--which was formed BILLIONS of years ago, puddingstones are conglomerates whose innards are in the billions as well. Interestingly, Michigan is the epicenter of some of the most unusual and ancient rocks in the world! (Wish I'd known that when I lived there.) Others: greenstones, petoskey stones and Yooper lights--which glow in the dark!

    Hi again TAYLOR
Love it there too! A beautiful pic of the icicles and the open water. That water rolls like an ocean and can have huge waves. It's that powerful water that is ever changing the rock selection. But
then oh so quiet at the end beach you found.
Thinking those two unique rocks look like russet baking potatoes and that other large piece when turned right has a raccoon face!! Always fun when the rocks speak in different ways sometimes lol. Bet you got chilled to the bone by the time you got done but still worth it right!?!
Thx for sharing as always and can hardly wait til next time. Stay healthy and hope all is going good with your new little guy...

Thanks for this. Just came back from a trip to the north shore with my daughter - having just recently started following you, we were inspired to try hunting in a bunch of new places. It’s late in the season and we didn’t find any big rocks, but we did find more than our share of smaller keepers and have broadened our scope of what we look for. Even jasper..I think we have enough to tumble a batch!

Whenever we went to a beach, Mum had this tradition where she would have to find a pebble with a hole in it or she would never return. We've got so many holey pebbles we lost count! My best beach find was a chunk of Nuumite on a tiny beach on the Isle of Sheppey UK. Weird place to find a rock like that :)

I was going to tell you on your last video concerning those black stones. To take a flashlight to them , or your phone light , the stronger the light the better . See if the light will penetrate the stones . If the light penetrates the stones they're not meteorites. You could open a window on the stones by using that new lapidary machine you have . Hint ! Hint ! Thank you . Enjoyed !

Dude u have No idea how much I wish I'd seen this video about 3 months ago when I was searching EVERYWHERE to find out what the hell the pretty white rocks that I kept finding on the beach while hunting for agates were (I called em snowballs)... Eventually I figured it out thankfully... here u find 2, the same type it seems that we have on the Oregon coast... Zeolites!! They're so pretty and actually do tumble and get even prettier, just much faster than agates obviously since they r so much softer. Well that was enough to prove to me how well u know your stuff- subbed!👍

Great finds! Making us want to go agate hunting but we can't venture to our favourite sites in England at the moment because they're on lockdown xx

How far up do you go on the North Shore? Do you have better luck finding rocks during the end of fall/ beginging winter time. Probably not as busy like summers time.

You need to get muck boots if your feet get wet they will still be warm. You will be surprised. Go to a farm store.

The rock you showed around 7:50 appears to be a serpentine group specimen. The green looks like serpentinized olivine and I'm guessing the whiter color is a very light green with fibrous texture under the microscope. There is a ton of serpentine around where I live in WA state. Serpentine has 16 varieties that I'm aware of and they range in hardness values from very soft to very hard. (If memory serves me correctly 2.5 through 5.5 or even 6 possibly on the mohs scale depending on the species.)

Loved your nature scenes and those icicles hanging from that log, beautiful! Loved your finds also. That big one with holes might be what's called an omar stone? Please keep on sharing.

Regarding those black rocks, given the weight of them and their magnetic personality, I would think you got yourself a couple of pieces if slag. It's commonly used for rail beds in the mid west. It's produced in huge quantities and had to go somewhere. If you find a piece with a lot of steel it, you can hammer it down.
