This video is single handedly the most treasured item I have in my collection. I'll never forget the first time I saw this in the early 90's and I couldn't stop laughing, and being amazed at what I was watching. I eventually wore out the tape and was able to order the same show on DVD from Stevens. Years later, I had the distinct pleasure of sitting with Tom and talking to him about this performance over a few drinks. It's a shining example of a tremendously experienced performer, working under fire, and morphing his show to the tastes and reactions of his audience. He really did mess up the opening sequence and turned it into an entertaining part of his show, with his audience none the wiser. What a genius! What a kind soul! Thanks for watching this one with us guys! It was fun watching you guys react and discuss. We miss you Tom!

I saw Tom at the Tom-foolery in 1985. I traveled with the Amazing Conklin's of Colon,MI. I was their assistant. Tom was very good friends of Jerry & Shirley. We were on the road and stop at Tom's. I thought it was the greatest show I ever saw. After the show Tom brought everyone dinner and then apologize for not a great show. Well for me I will always think of it as one of the best shows of my life. Too bad you guys did not see him there. Someone's drink was half full , Tom would say, "Do you want another one?" Then he reach behind the curtain and pulled out a gas pump handle and fil up the glass .Funny Stuff!! And He did the jumping cigarette too. A great magician/entertainer and a very nice guy.
    And BTW YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!
    Keep up the great work!

The opening card trick was changed to a card in pocket because Martha Stevens couldn't remember the name of her card to call it out for the finish. Tom palmed the 4 indifferent cards they pushed out and brought them from the pocket. He adapted on the fly which is the mark of a pro in the trenches.
In the early 90's, Tom was performing at the SEAM convention in Atlanta - did 20 minutes and only 2 card tricks. There were 2 rooms with a video feed into 2nd room with a short delay. The guy from the audience tried to get cute with Tom and wanted to do a knock knock joke. Tom said, "Go ahead and start." Guy said, "Knock knock" and Tom said, "Who's there?" It caught the guy off guard which started the laughter in our room and then increased when the delay went through the 2nd room. After it died back down, Tom started to do a card trick when the guy said, "Let's try that again." Tom said, "Ok, go ahead." Guy said, "Knock knock" and Tom screamed, "WHO'S THERE?" That time the laughter rolled for 5 minutes. Great memory.

Mullica at the very top of his game. He has no equal. Eason is fantastic in his own way...York too, Swiss, Wagner, Schulien....all greats in their own right, but Mullica was the epitome of an entertainer.

2:03 - “Don’t chop the wood, ma, pa’s coming home with a load” is a reference to the Three Stooges in “Booby Dupes”.

That man burnt his mouth off everytime with that cigarette routine, but he didn't swollow anything. Maybe he had a coating or tape in his mouth to stop the burning 🔥 he was good at throwing and changing his voice.

During the egg bag he had to tell Joe Steven's wife Martha "it's not funny yet" because of her fake laughter. The 'audience" is all Stevens Magic friends/family. Worse than an L&l audience.
