This is the song I was listening to when I first fell in love with the woman who would become my wife. It was 2004, and I had just quit my job as a lawyer, despite the protests of my parents. To have a reason not to have to hear them whine over the phone, I took a trip (my first since when I was 12 and my family went to Hawaii) to Jordan. One very hot day (all the days in Jordan are very hot, but this one especially so) I was scheduled to take a trip out into the middle of the desert. I remember our guide was an incessant smoker, and the smell was inescapable in the jeep that I and 5 other sweaty men were squeezed into. We stopped around noon to eat lunch, and a tarp was laid out for us on the desert floor. At some point, I went to go take a piss and when I came back the tarp, the other tourists, the guide, and the Jeep were gone! If I recall correctly, I was so hungover that I assumed I had gotten lost, and started circling around looking for the others. After maybe 30 minutes I realized that I was really, truly, lost, and that if I didn't find my way back to civilization soon I would probably die from the heat. I had the vague idea that we had been heading south, so I my confused self started walking southwards and praying that I would find drinking water and/or my group soon, for all of my belongings, including my water bottle, were left in the jeep, except for my mp3 player and earbuds, and a few dinar. To this day, it was the most I've feared for my life. I was so dehydrated that I stopped sweating. I must have been walking for probably a number of hours, when suddenly, I saw a human figure on the horizon. Running up to her, I wasn't sure what was more surprising - to see another person out in the middle of nowhere like this, or that the other person was very clearly a white woman. We eventually met, which took forever - you can see people from a long way away in the desert - and it turned out that she was also an American, and that she too - unbelievably - was ditched by her tour group (a different one than mine, I had never seen her before.) She had a bit of water on her that she was generous enough to share with me, and we started walking together and hit it off. She was easily the most charismatic person I've ever met. You could say anything whatsoever to her and she would listen intently and spin it off into some thread of thought that you had never even imagined could exist, and it would be a delight every time. She read a lot of books, and would always quote them, but without pretension - she would never mention that it was a quote, you would just realize if you later read the book. Thing she said stuck like that - that you would remember them years later, while reading a book. Eventually the sun was about to go down, and we were tired as all get out. We sat down on the top of a rock, and fell asleep. A few hours later, I woke up, and the stars were out. To this day, I've never seen stars like that before, and would not be surprised if it turned out we were actually on a different planet for how bright they were. I put my earbuds in and started using the last of my mp3 player's battery. At some point, I turned to see if this girl next to me was sleeping, and she was not. She was looking up at the stars, the same as me. Without saying anything, I put one earbud into her ear, and she put her head on my shoulder. This was the song that was playing in that moment. P.S. Once I made it back to civilization, I went to the agency where I had signed up for the tour to (justifiably) complain and was completely unable to find it - the building was entirely empty and the phone number was no longer in service. I had last been there three days prior.
If folk is too poppy or melodic or melancholic, it starts to sound like country music. There's a very fine line there between a pop folk ballad and a country ballad and honestly I'm not 100% sure on which side of that line this song actually falls

No, I want love
I want divine inspiration

I wanna stay on top of house work
I want someone to make love to at night

Is not always what you're getting

How you love is not always analogue
