I am commenting as Ellen and I loved your video. After watching about 20 other videos I finally found the one I want to use. What you did that was different was to cut downward with the clippers instead of upwards at times. That really made the difference in the cutting. TY
YW. Thank you for your comments. Cutting my own hair for so long, I found cutting down has helped me tremendously, and I love to share anything that is useful to help all of us.
OMG! Yours is the only "downward" clipper cut tutorial I've seen. Thank you so very much for uploading this. I have extremely thick, course hair & it's so hard to find a hairdresser that knows how to deal with it. This tutorial is Perfect!
Thank you so much for this video. I've wanted to blend the back of my hair but the only tutorials I found showed the clippers always being used upward, towards the crown. I love your method of using the clippers upwards at the nape and then downward, going with the growth of the hair, to blend it. I'm going to go give it a try right now. Your cut turned out awesome. I envy your beautiful thick hair. Mine is very fine and thin. Thanks again for sharing your skill and bright personality. :)
Thanks for this video! I've been searching quite a while to find a video that shows how to cut my own hair in the same haircut using mostly clippers, then doing a little trimming with shears, & also taking out bulk with texturing shears. You are hilarious, fun & you make it look easy & do-able.
@@sharingwithseryna Welcome, & thank you so much again Seryna. I've had my hair short for 3 years now, but I can't seem to get the cut & look I'm after at a salon. So, I'm going to try very hard to go thru each of those steps you explained & demonstrated so well. Maybe I'll get good at cutting my own hair. My dear husband is helping me a bit too, which is a blessing.☺
Thank you for this, Seryna... Made cutting my hair more simple with the final look that I prefer... I only took the tips on how to trim the back. The front, I used my own approach. But the tip to cut the back is just priceless! Don't see the point of cutting my hair in hairdresser now 😊
Well, I just keep practicing Syrena! I've gotten pretty good at doing the front, the top, & my very short, close cropped side burns. But, the back at the crown & just below the crown are still a big challenge with learning how to move the clipper to get a nice wedge. I'm so, so thankful my hubby's willing to devote 20 minutes to watching me work on it about every 3 weeks. He is going to take a shot at trimming the wedge in the back tomorrow with the clipper!! What a sweetie! Even though it's taken me a long time to learn what little I can do, I really enjoy doing it myself.
Hello Michelle, that is so sweet that your husband is willing to help. My partner, he didn't want to get involved. Perhaps, he thinks that I am too picky, lol! 2 years later this is still INCREDIBLY helpful. I've been going to the same woman for my hair cuts since I was 2 ans now that I'm 23, she's now fighting back with me when I ask for short hair. "A married woman shouldn't have short hair, I'm not going to cut it like that picture!" "I don't like that new style kids your age are doing, those gaudy layers!" And recently we came to a "compromise" and she basically gave me a long bowl cut..... imma do this tonight.
Thank you for your comment. Please take the larger clipper and work it slowly. Also, it is alright to make a mistake the first time. I cut my own hair for a long time. The first time was difficult because the mirror image was opposite my hand, but eventually, I got it exactly where I want them. If you have someone who helps you, the back will be much easier to cut. Good luck, please let me know how it turns out for you. Our hair is not about gender, and I am not less womanish because of my short hair, LOL!
@@sharingwithseryna I honestly can't thank you enough! My husband held a hand mirror for me while I did it and it looks amazing! The back is a bit choppy because of the shape of my head and it catching the guard but it looks amazing! I couldn't be happier, thank you so much

So glad I found your way to cut my hair . I cut my hair with clippers up and had a terrible time.My hair needs cut again. Using the clippers to cut down I wouldn't have a lot hair up near my crown that I don't know what to with.Thank you so much.
Hello Barbara, I am so sorry to hearing that you have a hard time. On my video at 7:08, I pull my head upward and I cut it with a scissor and blend it with the side of the head. You can also use a clipper to cut across. Always leave about 5 to 6 inches long on top so this way you can cut more if you needed to blend both of the side. If you cut the bottom too short, the top may have to be shorter than what I have on my video. Please, cut a little of a time and pull out on the side, then you can control the length on top. Also, It is all right to have the length on top to be longer. The key is to blend the two sides . I hope this will help . Thank you for reaching out.
You have beautiful hair and you look great with long and short hair. The short style is chic and sassy. Thanks for sharing and good health to you in 2021.

Hello, with fine hair, you want to go to the largest guard, number 20. It will leave you about 21/2 in length, and always try the bottom hair up in the back to see if it will work for you. Good luck. Thank you for your comment.
Guard #8 will leave your hair only 1 inch, which might be too short. However, if you have fine hair and a lot of it, then it might work. The best time to test your hair is during the summer. It will grow faster than the winter. I hope you find this useful. @@delfinadiem3158

Love your hair. 🤩 Can you specify the combs that you used in mm? I can't quite catch the size 4, 3 and 2? Then I will have more confidence to do mine. Thanks!
Thank you for your questions. The size will depend on the brand. Mine is a Wahl clipper. #2 is 6 millimeters (mm). #3 is 10 mm, #4 is 13 mm, #5 is 16 mm. Remember to go with the longest you can at first. This way, you can see if your hair seems shorter because of the texture (thick, fine, and medium). I would go with number 8, 25mm, then works my way up to #4, 3, or 2 even those you have to spend more money to buy extra clipper guards. Good luck and have fun with it. It's a bit more challenge to cut your own hair at first, but once you get it. The sky's the limit!
Thank you for watching. If you cut your own hair, I hope it will turn out well. It takes me a while before I can really shape it and I have some experiences as a hairstylist too.

Looks fabulous! I am just starting to cut my own hair...full-time. I have dabbled for years. You give me courage for using the texturizing scissors which I need for my thick hair! are you still cutting your own hair? Thanks!
Yes, I do. I have a part-time teaching job and with fibromyalgia condition. I get so tired and that is the reason I haven't uploaded much of anything. Yes, the first step was scary but if you practice enough you will get used to it. You also know where to leave it longer too. I am glad that you tried it. Now, everything is so expensive, that cutting your own hair is one expense that you can cut out of your budget. Thank you for your comments.
I really WANT to cut my hair short (due to COVID it's a mess). I went and bought the clipper. I even bought the 2 inch guard so I could keep it a little longer but I got the clipper over a month ago. I don't have the guts to cut it two inches all over my head. LOL
Yes, it can be a scary thing at first. Perhaps, you can trim it with the clipper. I will upload another video how to trim your hair with a clipper. Maybe, you can utilize this technique and then slowly cut your hair short bit by bit. This way, it doesn't seem so drastic thing. Thank you for sharing your thought.

Beautiful! I think sometimes to cut your own hair is better because just because you go to hairsalon doesn't mean you are going to get a quality a cut, unfortunately, it's happened to me a couple of times. You did an excellent job 👏
Hello Maya. Sorry for the late reply. You should try to cut with guard number 7 and gradually move to guard number 5. With fine hair, it may look too thin if you cut with a guard number 3. Good luck and thank you for your comment and questions.
I really appreciate the back, but the front and top is not what I'm looking for. Still a really good back of the head tutorial! Also, oil your clippers, they sound like they are struggling. 😊
Hello Eleanor. Thank you for your comment. With fine hair, you can use the largest clipper guard, but you have to be careful because if you make a mistake. It might take longer for your hair to grow because it is thin. Keep it shorter on top will help to make it looks fuller.

Beautiful...I cut my hair short too, it's fun!
Thank you for your comment.
You did a great job I wish I was able to do mine 👍
You can ask someone to cut the back and try to cut the front on your own. Thank you for your comment.
@@sharingwithseryna Thank you!! :D
Oh I love it ...my hair is like a just below my ear Bob .. I wud like to attempt this do you think it may work...I love your tutorial I have also subcribed you...you seem really nice x
Yes, your hair should work for this cut. Just make sure to cut long then cut more, so you don't cut too much. Thank you for your comment.
Love this. Thank you for sharing x
Thank you.
I like the technique in the back very nices.
Thank you.
Great cut!!!!
This is so helpful, thank you!
I am so glad that it works out for you. YW! Thank you for your comment.
@@sharingwithseryna You're welcome! I see that some people give you tips. If you like to thin and texture your hair a lot, there is a technique that is really good. I can put a link to the video here if you like.
@@hibiscusfreak Thank you. I don't need the link, but I really appreciate the thought.
cute cut but i really loved it before you cut the sides...loved them long.
Thank you. Yes, I will try it out next time.
your video is very interesting. I live in Belgium in Europe and we don't have the same clipper. Can you tell me how long are the different guards you are using. Thanks.
thank you for your response so quickly. Thank you for answering in mm and not in inches. It’s very helpful . I have a Braun clipper with guards that match the length you gave.
If you turn clippers upside down you can layer and cut.
Thank you Johnna. I have tried your technique for my next cut, which I will upload soon. It works so great.
Good job!
Me gusta, deberías tener la cámara más arriba o tú sentarte, para poder apreciar mejor el corte paso a paso
Gracias por su sugerencia. Me aseguraré de mejorarlo la próxima vez. Y muchas gracias por ver el video.
That is one hip haircut! 💕
Thank you. I just love short hair.
Grow it all back, and you will be a siren, Girl!!!
EXACTLY WHAT I WANT....YOURE THE GREATEST.....
Thank you so much for your comment. I am so glad that it helped you.
Looks amazing!
Thank you for your comment.
Great explanation 👌 👍 👏 😀
Thank you for your comment.
Which type of clippers do you have, I am looking to buy some and need some guidance . Thanks
Hello Jane, I always use Wahl clipper. I recently ordered a wireless/wire one since one of my subscribers suggested it and my old one was getting dull and funky. I will test it out next video since it wireless but here is the link to the kit that I bought.

Thank you for your question. Hope it helps.
Thank you . I just need the courage to give it a go now .
Thank you. Having gone from "grateful dead" to "Sinead O'Connor" look, I will know better next time!
You're welcome. Sinead O'Connor is beautiful without hair. You probably is too, but do try this hair style next time. Thank you for your comment.
You're the sweetest and so much fresh forward, very encouraging! Thank you ♡
Cute cut.
You are so clever and brave 😍
Beautiful! I think sometimes to cut your own hair is better because just because you go to hairsalon doesn't mean you are going to get a quality a cut, unfortunately, it's happened to me a couple of times.
You did an excellent job 👏
Thank you for your comments. I do miss the washing and the pampering, lol!
Wow you did such a great haircut 👍👍👍can I come to get a haircut too 💇🏻♂️😀
Looking good 👍🌟
Thank you for your comment.
Thank you.
Good
I have very thin fine hair what number of gaurds should i use? I love your video and i have chosen to use your methed to cut my own hair...thank you!
Hello Maya. Sorry for the late reply. You should try to cut with guard number 7 and gradually move to guard number 5. With fine hair, it may look too thin if you cut with a guard number 3. Good luck and thank you for your comment and questions.
@@sharingwithseryna no thank you very very much!
great and inspire me
Great job!
Thank you for your comment.
We could do without the music
It looks good but l have double chin and you need defined bones for a pixie cut xx
Thank you.
Are you a hairdresser?
I really appreciate the back, but the front and top is not what I'm looking for. Still a really good back of the head tutorial!
Also, oil your clippers, they sound like they are struggling. 😊
Thank you for your comment and suggestion. Yes, this wireless clipper is much weaker than the one that is not wired.
Not bad, it is fun and can save money :)
Thank you for your comment. Yes, it saves a lot of money when you have four in a family, and it's always fun to cut hair.
Brave woman!
Awesome job 😊
Thank you.
I wish I had good hair. It's fine and getting thinner.
Hello Eleanor. Thank you for your comment. With fine hair, you can use the largest clipper guard, but you have to be careful because if you make a mistake. It might take longer for your hair to grow because it is thin. Keep it shorter on top will help to make it looks fuller.
Very cute..
Thank you for your comment!
I love your spirit!
Thank you.
Wow niceyou suite that so much
Thank you for your comment.
Be prude you got good hair as so many are losing it as what the he'll it grows back in.

Thank you!
