    What is center of rigidity?
    Center of rigidity is the stiffness centroid within a floor-diaphragm plan.
    Center of Mass
    It is the average position of all the parts of the system, weighted according to their masses
    Check in CSI ETABS
    During analysis, ETABS automatically calculates this coordinate for each floor diaphragm. The diaphragm assignment must be present in the model. Center of rigidity and center of mass are then displayed by selecting Display --)) Show Tables --)) Analysis --)) Results --)) Structural Results --)) Centers of Mass and Rigidity --)) OK.

    Hi! I'm not clear about the difference between (XCM,YCM), and (XCCM,YCCM). ¿It is the first pair the Center of mass of the floor, and the other one the center of mass of the cumulative structura actuating in a spefic story floor?

    M hussein with regards to your CM and CR i observed that it is from your gridlines.
    Meaning ex and ey coordinates is base on the Grid from 0,0 as your ref pt.
    Does it mean that whatever shape of the building just put the max gridline length for X and Y???
    Please correct me if im wrong.

    Excuse me, I have a question. Why is the summary mass of the diaphragm in ETABS not available, even though the summary mass of the story is available?

      Because I think you didn't define "Mass source"

      ​@@civilmdc I'm experiencing the same problem. I've already defined the 'mass source,' but the values in Mass X, Mass Y, and Mass Moment of Inertia are still 0.
      The values appear in the summary mass of the floor, but they do not appear in the summary mass of the diaphragm.

      W. Salam
      Normally we use Slab as rigid diaphragm.
      In earthquake regions low, mild and high seismic risk areas,
      We use seismic Design

      @@civilmdc my country not use seismic Cambodia use only wind.so we should use diagram or not brother. some designer use.some designer not use. I'm not clear about this.thank for reply.wish Allah bless you.

      @@civilmdc Sure.. But i run the model with floor diapraghm assigned, when i show table of Center of Mass & Rigidity, XCR & YCR are showing blank cells (no number). There is only XCCM and YCCM which mean center of mass..
      do you have any idea what does that mean? thank you bro

      >set load cases to run
      >tick calculate diaphragm Center of rigidity ( its zero because you forgot this step)

      @@civilmdc I did all the steps. Define>Mass Source>Modify>Specified Load Pattern>Load Pattern. Still its showing "0". I have assigned semi-rigid diaphragm. Does it have any effect?

      @@vd4395 Center of rigidity is only applicable to rigid diaphragms because in-plane slab deformation is variable across laterally loaded semi-rigid diaphragms.
