I lost my dad to cancer in 2022...
There are things now that I won't be able to ask for help or advice from him since he's not here with us anymore.

I was fitted for a suit not all too long ago. The tailor insisted that I put on the jacket by bringing my hands down to my waist behind me. It reduces the chance that you tear your sleeves or the adjustments. One thing I've noticed personally being a broad shouldered fellow, is to try to find a jacket that has less padding in the shoulders. Padded shoulders look fine on an average body, and particularly good on slender, but for us bigger guys, it can start to look a little blocky. Best of luck with your formal affairs friends
If it's a custom suit you have a choice how much padding you want. Modern style is to do "light padding" to square up your shoulders a little bit but no padding can also be acceptable in a casual jacket.
The cuff length was such a mind blowing revelation when I noticed it on models & celebs
I doen't know why this video is so emotional. I do know this video is useful for my sons that doen't have fathers. I can either watch this and explain how to propeerly use/wear their suite or you can just be their surrogate. Also, I swapped out the car battery in my car two days ago so... thank you dad.
I was made fun of for buttoning both my jacket’s buttons the first time I wore a suit. I had no one to tell me what to do and I felt so embarrassed at this little mistake. So thanks for helping the kids that grew up the same way that I did.

Some more tips:
1.the shoes and the belt should always match in color.
2. Don't wear suspenders with a belt.
3.Beige suits... almost never.
4. Blazers only with jeans or chinos.
5. Buy a suitbag for travel.
6. Send the suit to laundry for a wash....regularly
Genuinely, these are the top notch suit tips! I wish someone told me these simple pieces of advice 20 years ago! I forget that I learned this from mistakes, particularly when someone says it out loud! It’s hard when you’re trying navigating that road on your own. Keep up the great work!

Same here ...from mistakes. Especially learned never to save money on a suit, ties, belts or shoes. It always shows
Very good tips. There's a few fit things to add. You want to make sure when you button your top button, your suit doesn't pull in the front with a dreaded x or open your vents in the back. You also want to make sure your suit jacket length hits you thumb knuckle.

I can offer some other advice because I had to go through this. Everything is "fit" from a standing position, not seated. Your shirt cuff should end right about where your wrist has creases at the base of your thumb. If you wear french cuffs (which require cufflinks and look fancier) you typically show more of the cuff than if you wear regular button cuffs (which...have buttons). So if you get a jacket tailored for french cuffs it will be a little short for regular cuffs. Also the buttons: historically you would always button the top if you are standing up and undo it before sitting down but nowadays its more personal preference to walk around with your suit unbuttoned. You shouldn't need to struggle to do the button with one hand...if you're having to struggle or "suck it in" you need to get a looser fit. You really don't want the button to look like it's fighting for its life to hold your jacket closed. His pant legs are arguably a little bit long in this video...but again it's a style preference. The collar on his jacket in this video is wrong: at 2:25 you shouldn't have a gap around your neck between your shirt and jacket.

This is a good preparation for wearing a suit for business events. Maybe add a "Part 2" that addresses what kinds of material to look for, as well as tips on what shirts/ties to use for business wear.

Just a couple tips, the buttoning of the top button applies when you're standing; when you seat, you unbutton the jacket. When buying off the shelf suit, make sure to take it to the tailor, so he/she can adjust it properly.

Hey Dad! Can you show how to tie the double Windsor on camera? It's not harder than a single but looks so much better. I may be wrong but your tie looks like a double and it really looks so much better. I see a lot of single Windsor knots that look like you're going to a middle school dance. And sometimes you have to have a suit altered just a slight bit to have the hem sit right on your shoes or your shoulders look right in the jacket. You can actually take an inexpensive suit and make it fit so well it pops.

My situation is kinda different. My dad works in my home country to run our family business. While my mom, sister, and brother and I live in Canada.
