  • How to shave a beard.
If your facial hair is longer than 1/8", I would highly recommend using
a trimmer before shaving with a razor.

My father died when I was 6 and my mother died when I was 9. My grandparents died looong before I was born so I couldn’t go to them. I’ve been in and out of a lot of foster homes but a lot of them were hard to live in. I decided to look for work when I turned 15 and in a couple years, I worked up enough money to rent an apartment. I’m now turning 22 in a couple weeks and I recently bought my own house. I’ve always just tried to learn how to do things on my own (I fail about 94% of the time). I haven’t tried shaving ever and I only recently bought a razor last week but have been “scared” to use it until I stumbled upon this channel. This channel has taught me so many things from yard work to things as simple as shaving your beard.
    Thank you
    - a clean shaven man

Quick story time. When I was 6 I remember watching my dad shave and then when I turned 16 I full on expected him to teach me how to do it. I eventually learned how to do it myself Well when I was 18 my dad passed away and for some reason the fact he never taught me. haunts me.
I’m so thankful for your videos for people who didn’t even get as close as I did to learning.

I’m a thirteen year old girl with no beard. But my father was mentally and verbally abusive, so I watch you to make me feel better, so thanks Dad!
Edit: I… I don’t know what to say. Like I’m crying right now reading all of the loving comments and some from people in my same situation. I feel I should elaborate. I was raised mainly by my fathers parents, and I always considered them my real mom and dad. They passed away when I was little, leaving me in the hands of my mother and father. My moms great and I love her dearly, but a part of me will never forgive her for marrying such a cruel man. He never showed any love or affection to me nor any of my siblings, and whenever any of us were crying he would yell at us and scold us for showing emotion. There are obviously other things that he did, but I don’t really want to go into greater detail. I eventually learned how to hide everything, how to say the right things, and how to try to please him- but nothing was ever enough. I say “was” abusive because I don’t want people to think that I’m in any current danger, but also because I know my worth now, and I will never let someone like him treat me as he treated me ever again. I’m working on earning enough money to send myself through college, and move far far away with my girlfriend as soon as we have the ability to, so I never have to see that monster again. In the morning I will respond to everyone individually (yes, I’m aware it’s 8 people, but emotionally that’s a lot of fricking people, man) but for now, thank you, thank you, thank you all so much for all of the kind words. It means more than you know. xoxo

It may just be a shaving video but it really means a lot to me. I've always been jealous of people having their dads teach stuffs. I've watched several films where there are scenes that a dad putting shaving cream to a childs skin and giving them a comb to imitate a razor blade. I've come to an age where I have to shave hairs on my face. Before I found this channel, this video, I really did it myself. For that first time, I had several cuts on my face. Watching tutorial videos didn't pop in my head that time I just did what I can think of. Your channel, sir, is enough to be a father figure to all of us watching. Thanks, Dad!

I know you've heard this from many, but THANK YOU A THOUSAND TIMES OVER!! Another single mom here who sadly does not know all there is to know about guiding my son into manhood. I was going to ask our contractor to teach him how to shave because he's the only male we've had around lately to remodel the house, but friends stated that it would be inappropriate and a huge imposition. I have also been getting conflicting advice on which razor he should use and which direction he should shave (with/against the grain). Your video is extremely helpful and I look forward to watching it with him this weekend so that he will no longer look like Wolverine! I have subscribed and we will be watching your additional videos/tutorials. :-)

AWESOME video. I'm 44 and had to learn it the hard way... Brilliant about trimming off the beard outside (otherwise that hair gets EVERYWHERE) One tip I will add for getting your sideburns even...
If you have sideburns they can be REALLY hard to trim evenly if you've let your beard grow out a bit, so the best way I've found is to start with a mirror you don't have to hold, even if it is inside, and do ONE where you want it, just trim a little bit so you can see a clean line where it is.... Then look in the mirror, put one finger where that one stops, and use a finger on your other hand to find the spot directly across your head from it.... Keep the second finger in place, and use that as a guide so you know where to trim, after that cleaning up with the razer shouldn't be too much of a problem.

But to all teenage boys, watch it carefully.... don't end up in cuts like I did...not fun at all.

No one ever taught me this stuff, I had to just figure it out but even now I’m still learning from your videos. Last year I had to go to a funeral (I’m in my late 20s) and I had to have someone tie my tie for me when I got there. I was mortified. I’d never learnt how to do it and I couldn’t follow the instructions from google, I’m terrible at following direction so it helps me to watch things and learn that way. But I’m not good with all this social media stuff so it didn’t occur to me to find out from TH-cam. I’m so thankful to you and also to the person who told me to watch your videos as I now know how to do some of the things that all other lads in their late 20s know. Huge thank you :)

Hi dad. I came out as a trans guy about a year and a half ago and this video really helped me understand what I was doing because no one really bothered to teach me. I've kind of been figuring out so much stuff on my own and I just wanna say I really appreciate you making these in a way that is both welcoming and easy to understand 💚

I'm a transgender man whose stepdad was a raging misogynist and all around bigot, and I haven't found anyone who has been transitioning longer than I have to teach me things like this. I'm so glad I found your channel to help fill in those gaps. You and I are probably closer in age as I'm 37, regardless thank you for stepping up to help thousands of people who have no dad for one reason or another.

Growing up without a dad I would kind of cling to father figures along the journey of life. I remember when I was a teen growing facial hair. I never really knew how to shave I kept cutting myself or got bad rash like marks afterwards. I remembered watching my sisters husband at one time shaving and tried to memorize the way he would do it but never had the same result. I didn't have access to the Internet to Google proper techniques or tips at the time then just kind of forgot and eventually just let it grow to a beard and I'll do touch ups every now and then but I never had any male figure actually sit down to talk me through it until now. Thanks! 😜

I'm a trans guy, and while I remember watching my dad shave when I was a kid I moved across the country at 22 and haven't been home since. I started my transition at 26, and had to learn on my own with what I could remember from watching my dad. He always kept himself clean shaven, though, while I prefer to leave my barely passable goatee and go longer between shaving. Never thought to use an electric clipper first to avoid that tug and pull, I'll try that next time!

To help minimize how much the hair flies around, first get the beard wet with warm water for about a minute, then dry with a towel before using the clippers.

Today I learned ... my 20 year old son, who's been shaving (electric) since he was about 16- has no idea what he's doing! His father showed him, but...for reasons.... my son never trusted his father in this endeavor, and when I asked him why he was growing out his facial hair, he confessed that with his facial hair being so super curly (caucasian) it's painful and annoying (he's special needs with autism and sensory issues) ....so I zipped right over here to see what I could find out to 'gently guide him' in a way that's NOT his mom telling him how to shave * eye rolling from both of us lol* Thank you so much for your help
I also fixed my running toilet and that was a lifesaver (and sanity saver and money saver lol)
