    Five years later, and this video is still aiding decisions! I was caught between decisions on a 2016 Dodge Durango or a 2016 Explorer Sport; and this video contributed to my decision towards the Explorer Sport! Thanks for this!

    Excellent video! I'm a Ford/Lincoln sales consultant in Pennsylvania and I learned more from this video than from some of Ford's training materials. Well put together and very informative, thank you!

    I'm an owner of the 2015 Explorer Sport and I agree this is a refresh but I do like the buttons for the climate control. Buttons are always better.
    I will add for all the people who say the unibody Explorer is a mommy mobile check into the the lift kits available. I lifted mine and I have close to 12" of ground clearance and with the right tires the Haldex 4x4 system, the very same one found in some Land Rover's, will take you off road more places than you think.
    When my lease ended on my 2013 F150 King Ranch Supercrew 4x4 with the FX4 package I was really surprised at my Explorer Sport 4x4 taking on some of the same trails and being better because of it's shorter overall wheelbase.
    And don't even get me started on how good my 2015 Mustang GT is, I love that car :)

    You've really sparked my interest in the 2016 explorer. I'm a Ford man heck I even bleed blue. (I'm known for my sleeper 801 rwh 2011 mustang gt.) But my wife owns a Lexus RX 350 seeing this video I think you have changed her mind. Thanks for the help and a great video.

    Awesome job Mitch!! You are as thorough as I would be in describing a vehicle. Maybe make a follow-up video and cover some options like park assist and driving the vehicle showing the blind spot monitoring system etc. Shooting in 4K is also a nice touch because of the detail of the video showing just how beautiful that Ruby Red color is! My wife and I are buying our 2016 Ruby Red Sport Explorer today as a matter of fact!! It is equipped with everything you mentioned.

    I wish our dealership in San Diego was this informative. Instead, I had the dumb lady telling me that the XLT doesn't offer cloth seats. Customers should not be more knowledgeable about a sellers product.

    • @wantsanewvehicle
      @wantsanewvehicle 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Charley Hawkins While I agree they shouldn't of sold to you without telling you first... what's the big deal?

    • @wantsanewvehicle
      @wantsanewvehicle 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Charley Hawkins You act like they all had diseases and spread them all over or something. Oh, and they all farted on your seat too btw. I have never been to an auto show, but from videos of auto shows that I have seen the only people who might of 'sat' in it are media people. I doubt there were 1k+ media people at the show. And even if there were and/or they let just anybody sit in it...it's an accord, doesn't exactly 'wow' anybody - no reason to sit in it lol. So, a little interior clean on the dash/steering wheel and you'll be all good. Not that any diseases that they might of spread are still alive, anyways.
      Oh and one more thing.. they just sat in it, not drove it. If they all drove it, then maybe I wouldn't even buy it as a used car.

    • @SouthernRotors
      @SouthernRotors 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Charley Hawkins It's not a big deal. With all the test drives at dealerships, I have noticed scratches on automobiles I've paid over 50k for new from the dealership. As long as you bought it straight out it's okay, if you leased it I would have a big problem with some of the issues your talking about because you could be liable and face a 2k or more turn in fee. I guess I'll close by saying life is short, be happy you are in the position to buy a new car in America today.

      I Need a Geek
      Over the weekend I test drove and then took home (from Saturday to Monday- 'to see if I liked it') a 2016 sorento. It had 6 miles on it when I left the lot, so I was the first test drive.. it had a scratch on the plastic by the driver's door handle already and a rock chip on the front bumper.

    this is a really good video. I was contemplating either a f150 for work and towing a small tools trailer with it but knowing I have a baby daughter and am family oriented I love this suv. really good information in this. good to know Toyota and Mercedes don't have truly cooled air seats that's something new I learned. but the sport model seems amazing, we'll build and looks really nice. I like it a lot. go ford

    This was pretty informative. I work for a ford dealer in Boston so its nice to see the new explorer compared side by side with the old one. Good job, but I have to say the part where he "struggled" to unscrew that plastic antenna was kinda funny. It's anything but a hassle to take off.

    The "sport" version looks amazing when compare to the standard model. With the addition of after market products like a front and rear bar, winch, front skid cover, etc.... it will be awesome! The front grill should be made into chrome with the side skirts and both bumpers fuller colored matching with the body plus additional carbon fiber lids will give the SUV a better outlook.... please bring it on!

    these innovations by ford are great. i love the camera angles and the auto folding seats, very neat. also kudos to them for keeping physical front console buttons. touch screen buttons for every control is just not needed and is less effective imo.

    Fantastic video, thanks so much for going so in-depth on everything. I've been interested in the '16 Explorer Sport since it was first shown and wondered about a lot of these things. If you can recall, was there additional storage under the floor of the cargo area in the rear? Meaning, when the 3rd row is completely stowed, would there still be an area for *some* cargo? Keep up the great work!

      I actually test drove the XLT yesterday in Louisiana. It was not as refined as I was hoping, felt sort of clunky (had non eco 6 cylinder). Also there were a lot of open patches not covered up where seats and bars met the frame of the car. I was kind of surprised cause the Sport here looked so nice.

    It's sad that pre-production (PP) gets crushed, but it has to. Often times they are not sporting a completely finished quality. Also, PP vehicles get used and tested by Ford people, like this one, so that as little things/bugs pop up, they can addressed before the public buys a full production truck. And after all, we all want a great vehicle with no issues, right?! I know, makes me sad too!

    i dont think that they should crush the pre production car, maybe use it as a show car or something. i do love that it still has actual fog lamps, i cant stand those little LED light things that ford does. they cant actually produce any light, and just on a personal level i wont buy a car without real fog lamps. i wish that ford had put hood struts on it because a car this big should not have a hood prop.

      It's not just that Ford owned them for which they sold to Tata motors in 2008, the current 2011 - 2015 Explorer came out 2 - 3 years before the current Range Rover. In 2011 Range Rovers were still looking boxy where as the Explorer started to have the rounded body curves. It wasn't until the 2014 Range Rover Refresh that it started to look a little like the Explorer. If you don't believe me then just google it and see for yourself. Basically Land Rover "copied" Ford but again any similarities is only because of the spill-over from being under Ford ownership as already mentioned by getbt.
