It's so great seeing Janet in this podcast. I went to her farm in 2018 at least 3 times. I kept bringing friends and I always learned something extra from each tour. I'd like to add that something else that is special about PEI is the number of women entrepreneurs. So inspiring.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Loved the farm update, "....It's a circus out there!" had me laughing. It was great to hear the sheep. I loved the interview with Janet. How much pain she must have endured and how far a path she travelled to where she is now to forge her existence with her own hands, with courage and determination. There is a Portuguese saying that says, "Go. And if you are scared, go scared." Both of your stories, Jennifer and Kim (and your husbands) and Janet personify this saying and are now making beautiful things in PEI.
I've just started watching your videos a few days ago (which I really enjoy!) and saw this one today. Janet's story really touched me and her story is incredible to me. To be able to change her whole life after such a sad event and find contentment in her new place was wonderful to hear. Really inspirational. Thank you.
I had so much fun doing this with you; you make it all look so easy! And that bit about Ken and his circus.... I can always count on you to provide me with a 'spit out my coffee' moment. And of course those yarns..... what gorgeous colours and I can't wait to get my hands on some. Cheers and big hugs ;)
Very good interview. Janet is very knowledgable and interesting. This podcast really makes me want to visit there. I love hearing the farm animal stories. My parents had cows and we raised chickens for meat nearly every year. One year dad decided to do turkeys and they definitely have different personalities. I used to pick them up and give them rides in my bicycle basket. They seemed to think that was ok.
Thank you ladies so much for this great informative episode! I’ll be visiting the island next week and now I’m even more excited for the fibre trail now after watching this!
I absolutely love your podcast ladies, and I myself ordered a sweater from Janet. They are absolutely stunning, now the wait until I reserve it. Keep up the great podcasts can’t wait until the next one is up.
I try to practice "sitting on my front porch totally contented" each day. It is hard in the city. Good for you having made such a great lifestyle change after PTSD! Loved seeing the alpacas out the window behind you Janet. I never imagined I would be so interested in the technical aspects of wool, alpaca and sheep. Thank you ladies for such entertaining and informative shows. HUgs
Brenda Solanki we had hoped you would be able to see them through the window a bit better throughout the interview, but it was a dark evening and the lighting inside wouldn’t allow it! You were observant to catch them out there!
Great episode! I bought some alpaca fleece from Janet a few years ago the last time PEI hosted the Maritime Spinning Retreat. It was my first alpaca. It is beautiful.
FYI if you knit the Kidsilk along with your fingering sock yarn, you will create socks that are 'virtually' indestructible. The mohair adds warmth(via a slight felting under foot) and the silk adds a very strong thread that helps extend the life of the sock immeasurably.
Another amazing episode chalk full of content that is absolutely engaging🙌🙌 I love your podcasts so informative and I so appreciate getting a look into your life on the farm with all it brings to you❣️ So well done😍
So I’m even more convinced these events “from the farm” need to go in a kids book some day. Also, concerning the wipes- these are both epic and I’m more impressed every episode with your skill as knitters. You are both looking great! Wishing you good hay weather! 💕💕. TakeCare. R.
I LOVE your podcast and I have really enjoyed the variety of guest speakers that you've had! Perhaps you can let us join in live on one your knit nights??
Just stumbled upon your podcast and will certainly be binge watching your previous ones! Great interview with pack full of information about alpaca yarn! Thanks Micheline from BC
As a gal born and raised in Toronto this interview is very similar.....but I left the conservatory of music option and married a potato farmer on Prince Edward Island. It's a big family business and I had no clue ...absolutely no clue about what moxy it took to farm crops or animals....it is still a big learning curve.....all the best I hope to visit your farm sometime on my larks about the island. My husband's family settled and still lives in Linkletter .....
A great episode and interview with Janet. This prompted me to dig out my skein of Green Gables I was lucky enough to find in a thrift store ( for $3.25 !!!!...whatttt ! ) It's an alpaca, merino, nylon -60-20-20 blend. On the label it also shows Americano's Keswick. It's just 200 yards so I am looking for something special to knit. Most likely I will get a hat. I love the Knit Blockers..I have 2 sets.
I just found you guys via the PEI Fibre Trail website. I'm headed to PEI in a week for a little fiber retreat for one. Looking forward to visiting both your shops soon! 😊
Love the interview with Janet, interesting AND informative. Thanks for another great episode! Really happy I am watching all the back episodes. You have become my favorite podcast by far! Would you please tell me which episode of Fruity Knitting you are one? I have looked but was not able to find it. Thanks. :)
Loved this episode! Almost caught up...how does your eldon lace compare to the Rowan kidsilk haze? I have a pattern I really want to do and it calls for the kidsilk haze. But I’m more interested in using your product.
Ray Garcia ours would be quite a bit thicker but that doesn’t mean you cannot use it...it would produce a much denser fabric though, and of course you’d have to swatch! 😉
Ann Clark usually a beginner class at a local shop is a great way to go, but WE love Blueprint the online courses, honestly that’s mostly how Kim and I learned!!
I loved Janet’s frankness and how much the lifestyle has healed her body and soul. I’ve always loved Alpaca yarn. Adore all of the convos.
Yes that was a very moving interview.
Love hearing the farm noises in the background. Very cool.
Thank you so much!
Wonderful interview. I learned a lot. Love catching up on all the episodes I missed.
It’s a good one! Janet is amazing!

Hello
Thanks for your great podcast. Hoping to visit PEI soon! Will definitely pay a visit to your shop! Is September a nice time to visit?
We were there last September and weather was beautiful and crowds almost gone as school is back in session. We'll be going back in Sept this year.
Anne A September is one of the absolute best times! Provided you aren’t looking to swim in the ocean, as the water does cool off then.
Any hints for beginner knitters? I only crochet but want to learn knitting.
Ann Clark usually a beginner class at a local shop is a great way to go, but WE love Blueprint the online courses, honestly that’s mostly how Kim and I learned!!
Great episode as always! I loved the interview with Janet! I really need to visit her shop soon! ❤️
Valerie Favreau yes! It’s a great spot!!!
