As someone who loves learning languages, I really want to like this guy but I can't.
I mean, yeah, he speaks maybe 5-7 languages, and that's impressive, but why the need of claiming he speaks 20-30 languages?
In most languages he claims to speak he's just memorized a bunch of phrases, that's why he throws around some random questions so often.
And before you say he's never claimed to be fluent, look at the titles of his videos and tell me if it's not implied that he's fluent in all those languages. Also, some of his supporters are just playing semantics, saying a thing or two in certain language doesn't mean you speak that language.

My question is… but according to you all, that watch his videos and comment them, if he really spoke 30 languages VERY GOOD, would he get around his city parks to annoy tourists or would he work for international companies as an interpreter or something like that?
So I am an Italian mother tongue, I can speak Spanish and Portuguese (from Portugal) and I studied some Chinese as well
So about Portuguese his accent is funny, it is an accent that is not natural at all; about Spanish is ok but there are a lot of mistakes, always exchanges male and female genders for example.
About Italian, his Italian is not good, he can says some sentences but there is no accent, it’s look like google translate voice, there is no energy, there is nothing, his sentences are totally empty, about Italian he cannot work anywhere with this level of italian,
About Chinese he speaks well, but the tunes for example are not taken into account, he knows just a few Chinese characters.. the most beautiful and difficult of Chinese language…
So I think for my experience that learning a language is not only to speak it, it is studying his culture, studying his country where it is spoken, traveling to his country for a period of time… and so on..
Studying a language at home, without experiencing like that.. according to me it is an half work, ok he speaks them, but the problem now is not how many languages does he speak, but how does he speak all these languages…

The variety of languages is a miracle indeed. Some people need them for survival reason, especially if one travels allot to different countries. It is fun to immerse in different cultures. However, I consider ability in a language is more than just memorizing common or selected words n phrases. Language competence is a complex set of skills. Therefore, most claims about language ability turn out to be an exaggeration.
