I’ve actually never watched this show or the 90’s show, they both look really good and I’m the biggest Spider-Man fan but I always get scared consuming older media, because I realized I missed out the whole time and that whatever it is I’m hooked on has long been discontinued then I’m just so let down and sad. I’m hoping we get a continuation of the 90’s show like for X-Men because then I have reason to watch the older show and won’t worry about it being over. And for this show I’ll give it a first ever watch along side these videos
@@dudeamazing7458Man, dude your going to have a blast watching Spiderman 98. I just finished watching it myself a week ago, and its certainly worth the watch!
What makes Season 1 of Spectacular so great is the slow evolution of all of its antagonists. In the first episode alone you meet the alter egos of Venom, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Rhino, Shocker and Lizard. It’s so fun to see these characters show up first and then become super villains later.

This is easily the BEST adaptation of the Lee/Ditko era. And just like he did in Young Justice and Gargoyles, Greg Wiseman masterfully sets up a tight continuity that goes forward with stratifying set ups and payoffs.
This show is such a treat for comics fans as it takes inspiration and aspects from almost all adaptations and the source material at the time and takes what works and leaves out what doesn’t. It also has so many references and uses characters that have barely even been adapted anywhere. It’s such an underrated show.
This is easily the best Spiderman show ever. The animation, characters, story, are all amazing, and the writing is on point. I only wish it didn't end so soon.
@TAS.1994You know you're allowed to like one show over another without necessarily "disrespecting" it. Both 90s Spider-man and Spectacular Spider-man are great shows and I certainly like how Spectacular Spider-man handles some things over the way 90s Spider-man does and vice versa.
There’s no discussion here, The Spectacular Spider-Man isn’t just the animated Marvel project, it’s probably the Definitive adaptation of Spider-Man IMO. Also the into theme slaps so hard.

I get to correct Coy on something. I'm so excited. Pete and MJ did not grow up together. They didn't meet until May and Anna set them up on a date. Pete needed one for homecoming or prom, I can't remember which. Pete is like "absolutely not," but May and Anna set it up anyway. MJ comes over so they can go to the dance and Pete opens the door, her first words are, "Face it, Tiger, you just hit the jackpot."
The Spectacular Spider-Man will always hold a special place in my heart for being my childhood and is still my favorite adaptation Plus the intro theme is a banger 👌
Favorite episode may be Intervention. Also, I think in the Shattered Dimension game, Vulture did kill Noir’s Uncle Ben. He ate him too! Also, also, you were talking about MJ. In the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon I believe she wanted to be a journalist and worked at the Daily Bugle briefly, and also became the Carnage Queen before gaining control and using her Carnage power to become a Spider-Woman. It was pretty cool. Harry becomes Venom (and later Anti-Venom), Peter was Carnage at one point, and Flash is Agent Venom. Pretty dope.
This show is so great at setups, in the first episode alone (without getting into spoilers) introduces over ten villain characters either suiting up this episode or future suit up and it doesn't feel crammed in it feels natural and builds the world. And another thing this series does well, showing a Spider-Man with Consequences, stuff he does carries over, as you've seen with the curfew carried over to episode 2, coming full circle "with Great Power, comes Great Responsibility" but with Great Responsibility comes Great Consequences. Also this is my favorite Electro, Crispin Freeman does an Amazing job voicing a tormented, victimized incarnation of the character
Fun fact, each episode title is a reference to a subject in school, to show Peter's growth as he goes through highschool. Every story arc (roughly 3-4 episodes) the subject changes. This first one is biology, so we get titles like "Natural Selection" and "Interactions"
The '94-'98 S:TAS series--an animated blender of decades of comics, at its worst explosions interrupted by plot :) --will always be first in my heart, but when Greg Weisman, the co-creator of "Gargoyles," showruns a Spider-Man series (he went from this to "Young Justice") there's no way it's not going to be the best one!!! This was the first time I ever saw Electro as a kid, so this is the version I'm used to, rather than being just a full villain in a spandex suit. ALSO I JUST REALIZED ELECTRO IS CRISPIN FREEMAN! I knew I recognized him as Itachi!
All his own fault really leaving a tool unsecured on top of something he's yanking around not checking its safe after it falls, no barrier between him and the tank then charging off in a fit of rage when the scientist says they'll work on a cure.
Easily the best and my favourite Spiderman - Has the perfect balance of nerdy, awkward Peter like Tobey, but the confident, quipping Spiderman of Andrew. Josh Keaton nailed this performance and I’m so glad he got to make a cameo in Across the Spider-Verse.
Definitely the mature and not really doing that but for kids as well like this show. I see it as that just like the MTV one it's the maturity even as a teen but people hate it when it's what they want after reading his origin many years ago and want that base point in his life like the current Ultimate spiderman comic.
I also like Drake Bell as Spider-Man. I grew up watching episodes with Josh, Keaton, but I grew up alongside Drake and the Disney XD Marvel era. And when I hear Drake’s voice, it sounds more younger and/or “nerdy” while with Josh sounds cool.

I highly recommend you guys check that out 😁 the more you watch this show, the more you’ll notice some of Sam Raimi’s visuals are adapted in the series 🤩❤️
Fun fact: A lot of the episode titles in season 1 are either science related, like "Reaction", "Catalyst" or "Uncertainty principle", or they're sports terms, like "competition" and "survival of the fittest". In turn, season 2's episodes are closely titled as theatre or construction, like "blueprints" and "destructive testing" for the latter, and "opening act" and "final curtain" for the former
In addition the first 3 episodes deals with terms used in Biology: Survival of the Fittest, Interactions and Natural Selection. The next 3 deals with Economics terms, followed by Physics. The last four of the first season deals with Psychology. The second season does the same thing, hence creating small arcs within the seasons.
Welcome to Spectacular Spider-Man, I know that you'll enjoy your journey with this series. From the theme song to the characters, music, voice acting and the story being told, it'll be one wild ride that you won't soon forget.
12:31 Woah, I never noticed that handshake as a kid! I guess Peter was used to doing right but obviously Connors could only do left. I never noticed that!😂
You are in for one hell of a Spectacular (Spider-Man) ride!!! This is such a well paced, acted and put together story of our young Peter Parker. ALL of the episodes are my favorite for different reasons. Quick FYI, the stories are broken down into 3 or 4 episode arcs that have their titles named after themes from certain sciences!!!
This show is perfect, its able perfectly able to capture the elements that make Spiderman who he is. The show balances mature themes but also never goes away from action. This balance is what makes the show good for all ages. I loved watching show as a little kid, I found it really funny and action packed. As I am older I now also see the messages within the characters.
My favorite reaction duo watching my favorite Spider-Man? Yes, please! I’ve been looking forward to this since I heard about it in the last X-Men reaction!
Im so glad you're watching this show. It was my absolute fav growing up but i never had friends to watch it with. Although it's 16 years later than intended, with you guys watching it finally feels like i get the chance to.
Also food for thought episode 2 “Interactions” where Electro was created by Eels, premiered in March 2008, a whole 6 years before Amazing Spider-Man would create Electro in a similar fashion, also involving Eels (May 2014).
Welcome to absolute peak animated Spider-Man media. You two are in for a treat!! This theme fucken rocks!! I watched this show almost every Saturday morning as a kid and even though I forgot pretty much everything about it (until I rewatched it last year) that theme stayed in my head along with the Sonic X one
I thought Coy would have been all over this, but it’s so exciting for me to see him really enjoy this and also the comic references will fill his heart up for sure.
This was the first I ever saw of Electro, so other iterations of just being a full villain in a spandex suit didn't hit the same since THIS is the Electro I know!
17:30 This scene made me scream with excitement when I watched this as a kid! My first Spider-Man comic was when him and Vulture were fighting one another, and this was a similar scene from the pages! Now this, puts a smile on my face 😌
I can't believe that Coy has never seen this version of Spider-Man! This is so exciting! While I grew up with the 90s series, this is the version is ...dare I say... Spectacular! The quips and the spider action is incredible. I can't wait for you to get further into the series!
Love seeing coy and john react together cause they both teach me new facts or knowledge. I've been smiling since the start of episode 1 seeing this show get a reaction from an amazing channel. Loved the show as a kid and loving it all over again. ❤️
I don't really watch this channel a lot, but I'm definitely gonna follow this series. It's awesome having people who know Spidey so well watching this show.
OhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygosh!!! Excited to see these reactions; this is my favorite Marvel animated series and one of my favorite takes on the world of Spider-Man 🕸️
Easily my favourite adaptation of the character in any format. I love that there are story arcs with episode titles following a theme e.g. Science 101 for the first 3. There are so many great touches that call back to the comics and all the characters are drawn from them too. Don't forget to pay attention to the intro that changes!
Two of the best things this show did as a form of Spider-Man media was weaving together the old Lee/Ditko stories and the newer (at the time) Ultimate spidey mythos to make it all fit together and make sense, and establishing villains as general characters before turning them into villains, it was fun to see them in a few episodes before it was finally their turn to become who they eventually become. Honorable mention to the episode titles being some form of education coinciding with Peter's school life, I always thought that was cool.
OMG I freaking loved The Spectacular Spiderman!! I remember getting the individual seasons from the library, similar to Clone Wars before it was on streaming. Awesome memories!!
You guys are soooo in for a treat, this is easily one of the best adaptations, trust me it only gets even better from here BTW, lil animation fun fact, dunno if someone already mentioned it but in some scenes they match poses and swingings from Tobey's films
Spectacular manages to capture so much about the character perfectly, even some of the more darker moments I won't spoil. So excited to see you guys watch this show!!
"Sweet, the Flash completes another pass." It's incredible to me that there are times where Flash f'in Thompson is one of the best characters in this show.
This show is definitely one of the best versions of Spider-Man. Its only flaw is that it got prematurely canceled for legal reasons. But if the show kept going, it would've been insane.
wow, it's really cool that you're reacting to this animation from Espetacular! For me, along with the one from the 90s, they are two of the best animated adaptations of the web head! I hope you continue with the series! There are lots of cool things to come!❤🕷🕸
Dude I didn't expect this! Can't wait to see how y'all like this show, I binged it last year when I saw this Spider-Man on the Spiderverse poster lol, really awesome story.
When I got this notification I forgot how ta breathe😂 YESS!! I never went ta watch a reaction so fast in my life! The Spectacular Spider-Man is my number 1 favorite cartoon next to Spider-Man animated series 1994❤❤
Oh man, LOVE that you guys are reacting to this. I grew up on the 90s Spider-Man series, but I gotta say that i LOVE Spectacular Spider-Man. Definitely a definitive take on the Spidey/Peter Parker character, drawing from the multiple comics continuities, past shows and movies. While the initial character designs might be off-putting at first glance, I really do love it. Sean Galloway's cartoony art style just matches the energetic nature of the show. And yes, the music is fantastic. The show is able to draw on some of the more somber storylines of the comics lore, while still maintaining this super fun and stylized vibe. While everyone is bummed at how the 90s show ended, Spectacular was egregiously cancelled due to the Disney/Marvel buy-out. This one definitely deserved more seasons. Still got this entire series on blu-ray. Hope y'all enjoy!!
YEEESSSS!!! Spectacular Spider-Man was the epitome of Saturday morning Cartoons before they left for good 😭😭 Theme song SLAPS! The characters all have amazing arcs, and Spider-Man/Peter Parker is just PEAK 🎉

@rubensalvador9422 thats something i was trying to say but i couldn't figure out how to put it into words. Thanks for giving the extra insight!
This is probably my favorite Spider-Man interpretation ever! So excited to hear your guys’ thoughts on it!
@30:30 funny how ya’ll said labs aren’t expensive… may come into play later.
Im so glad you're watching this show. It was my absolute fav growing up but i never had friends to watch it with. Although it's 16 years later than intended, with you guys watching it finally feels like i get the chance to.
I'm pretty sure Sally Avril is an actual Spiderman character in the comics, she's called bluebird
Not sure if Coy recognized it right away but in the Intro to this show there’s so key parts that r animated versions of what Tobey’s Spidey has done😌
This is hands down my favourite Spider-Man adaptation ever made
Oh hell yeah I didn’t expect you guys to react to this series! I grew up on the 1998 series, and this one!
And of course all of the Raimi movies
4:05 - that moment with John just made my week! Thank you for that!
Yes! I've been waiting for YEARS for someone on TH-cam to react to this masterpiece of a show!
You guys are gonna love this show
Also food for thought episode 2 “Interactions” where Electro was created by Eels, premiered in March 2008, a whole 6 years before Amazing Spider-Man would create Electro in a similar fashion, also involving Eels (May 2014).
I also haven't seen this show, so I'm really excited for this series!!
It gets much better, and even mature as it goes along. Keep it up, especially that last episode of season 2!
17:30 This scene made me scream with excitement when I watched this as a kid! My first Spider-Man comic was when him and Vulture were fighting one another, and this was a similar scene from the pages! Now this, puts a smile on my face 😌
This is the best spiderman series period i love the 90s one two but this one is the best one
guys, yall made me shed a tear with NOSTALGIA, GGs Rejects, thanks for taking this series!
That electro design is fantastic
This show might be the most unanimously loved spiderman show. And that intro!!! Brings me back everytime!!!
I JUST REALIZED ELECTRO IS CRISPIN FREEMAN! I knew I recognized him as Itachi!
Rewatching this series with you guys, I forgot just how savage the characters in this show were
I can't believe that Coy has never seen this version of Spider-Man! This is so exciting! While I grew up with the 90s series, this is the version is ...dare I say... Spectacular! The quips and the spider action is incredible. I can't wait for you to get further into the series!
Ahh man what a surprise! Def wasnt expectjng a reaction to this series but super excited yall are doing it..great reaction fellas!!
This is my all time favorite spidey show, it’s got everything and the ending still has me wishing they continued. Please continue this show
The fact I just randomly felt the need to look up some Spectacular Spidey clips only to find my favorite reaction channel is watching it now❤😂😂
Love seeing coy and john react together cause they both teach me new facts or knowledge. I've been smiling since the start of episode 1 seeing this show get a reaction from an amazing channel. Loved the show as a kid and loving it all over again. ❤️
25:05 Even though Peter did this to go investigate the Electro situation, it was still satisfying that he stood up for himself! 😊💪
Im actually surprised you guys haven’t seen this. Its probably the best adaptation of spiderman ever written through movies or Tv.
Really hope you guys (and Greg) also react to Wolverine and the X-Men. It's in the same continuity as the Hulk Vs. Wolverine film you watched.
WHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAT! Is this really a journey we're going to start?! I AM EXCITED!
OMG I freaking loved The Spectacular Spiderman!! I remember getting the individual seasons from the library, similar to Clone Wars before it was on streaming. Awesome memories!!
You guys are soooo in for a treat, this is easily one of the best adaptations, trust me it only gets even better from here
BTW, lil animation fun fact, dunno if someone already mentioned it but in some scenes they match poses and swingings from Tobey's films
I absolutely love this show!!. To me this is the best animated adaptation of Spidey. I can’t wait to see your reactions to each episode.
Robert England did an amazing job as Vulture, and I absolutely love this version of Electro
So happy they're watching my favorite childhood show and arguably the best spider-man animated show in my opinion.
Funny you guys mentioned Gargoyles constantly, since this show was co-created by Greg Weisman, creator of Gargoyles and co-creator of Young Justice.
Spectacular manages to capture so much about the character perfectly, even some of the more darker moments I won't spoil. So excited to see you guys watch this show!!
excited to watch this along with you guys, I've never seen this iteration of SM either
"Sweet, the Flash completes another pass."
It's incredible to me that there are times where Flash f'in Thompson is one of the best characters in this show.
This show is definitely one of the best versions of Spider-Man. Its only flaw is that it got prematurely canceled for legal reasons. But if the show kept going, it would've been insane.
18:12 Not only do you never say no to banana cream pie, THIS is how you say yes, appropriately😂
wow, it's really cool that you're reacting to this animation from Espetacular!
Always love older animation like this.
Great duo to react to this, thanks 😊
This was my Spiderman iteration I compared everything else to as a kid. It genuinely spoils us as Spidey fans and man I wish we got more seasons!!!
