CZ 75 is my go-to for SHTF. It’s not the most modern choice, but that inside-the-frame slide design is practically impervious to dirt and grit. Swap out the factory springs for some aftermarket ones, and this thing will outlast the apocalypse.

For all of those that hate the Beretta 92, when I was in the Marine Corps and shooting in competition and we first moved over to the Beretta from the 1911. I shot a 388 out of a possible 400 and qualified for the Olympics.
The only reason I did not go to the Olympics is my command would not allow me to leave the unit for that long. Would’ve required training with the Olympic team over an extended period of time.
That said I found the Beretta 92 to be, very effective and very reliable.
The unreliability problems all seem to involve the barrel wedge which was simply of a lower quality steel then it should’ve been.
And extremely easy to swap out part and the Taurus 92 barrel wedge was of higher quality and a perfect fit at least back in the late 80s and 90s

One there are more glocks in the world than any other weapon. Finding spare parts will be easier than every other pistol. Secondly I have to admit they are reliable as hell and tough as they come. It can take a beating in every way possible and still run. End of the world you have to think about keeping your tools running and keep running no matter what happens to them. Just like I wouldn’t drive a Ferrari in this situation. I’d drive a Ford F150. Lots of spare parts available. Now since it isn’t the end of the world I’ll stick to my sigs.

If SHTF no one is going to limp away and survive , a minor wound much less a bullet wound can spell death without antibiotics ! Additionally power is nice , but consider ammo cost too 9 mm is about 30 cents a round so it’s a good bet over other more powerful rounds , the venerable 22LR is 8 cents a round … most will scoff at 22 but consider cost and weight , also new double stacked or quad stack magazines mean you can have 16 , 33 or even 50 rounds in a single magazine at a quarter the weight and cost . Army ballistics studies have shown that a single hit by any bullet of any caliber is normally enough to put an opponent out of the fight …. Something to consider

However as time passed we were able to purchase much higher priced handguns. Sig P226 in 9mm and a semi-auto 22 pistol from the Ruger models. Stick with the 2 most common types of ammo because 22LR can be found hidden in farm buildings (so the kids don't shoot it all) and if you are the first to happen on a military or police carcass 9mm will likely be found.
The 22LR is for grouse and rabbits or 'coconuts' so choose a Ruger with good sights. Mine is the base model 4" with steel fixed sights and it's very accurate to 25 yards.

a 1911 in 45ACP has proven itself - even when the U.S gave in to NATO pressure to adopt the 9mm - many Special Forces still opt for a 1911 in 45 - it works. People might argue 'not enough round capacity'...well learn to shoot for one - IF - it actually comes down to shooting ...do you really want a 'you'll likely need more than one shot' to stop a threat 9mm? The 45 is a one shot deal.Thats why Nazis in WWII would ditch their 9mm Luger for a 1911. A 1911 stops them in their tracks

In my opinion it’s hard to beat a 9mm or a 45 acp because they are high cap and it will be easy to find ammo. But if ammo isn’t the issue I think a high cap 5.7 would be the best. I’ve recently been shooting a PSA Rock 5.7 it’s 24 rounds !! Flat shooting at distance, extremely accurate, low recoil, and very reliable. The price is also the best for a 5.7 pistol. There are Euro PD’s and the US secret service uses the round and they have good results in shootings. With the 5.7 you basically have a small assault rifle in a handgun package.

  • @REB4444

The two best on here were the Sig P226 and the CZ. I'd take the Sig because it's probably more common than the CZ for spare parts but they are both amazing. The Glock is simplicity but also the most negligent discharged pistol in the free world, and you can make a million excuses for it but it's a fact even with "trained" professionals. Plus it has the crappy ergonomics compared to the Sig & CZ, the trigger is mushy crap, and I've seen better sites on my kid's plastic toy guns. My first love while in the Marine Corps was the 1911, it's just an extension of your hand & arm, but the limited ammo might make it an issue in SHTF situations where anything can happen. Unfortunately we transitioned to the Berretta a year later & it's never been a favorite with it's overly fat grip & exposed barrel.

My Taurus PT92, without a doubt. The Beretta 92's Brazilian half-brother. It chews through all steel/brass/aluminum cased ammo like a fat kid with a bag of chips. It's also rated for higher pressured loads so that means it can safely take more than a few spicy rounds. Standard mags are 17, which I have plenty of but also a few 18s and 32s. Hogue rubber grips and buttery smooth action make it my go-to.

Here's a strange pistol/carbine combo using the same .30 Carbine ammo:
    1. Ruger Blackhawk with 6in barrel in .30 carbine.
    2. Thompson/Kahr M1 Carbine, .30 carbine, with folding composite stock.
The 6in barrel on the Ruger is extremely accurate, much better than any 9mm striker-fired auto I've ever tested, and I own many of those. Only downside to Ruger is reloading, but that's where the Carbine comes in, right!😮

The Springfield XD lineup are excellent choices too and much more reliable than the Beretta 92 and CZ 75 as evidence and as I experienced when I rented them all at my local gun range. They don’t clean the guns often. I’ve noticed that the SA/DA semiautomatic pistols have failures to feed and eject when not cleaned up (unlike the Glocks and XD guns).

Train with multiple differnt pistols. As Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch said."Who says you are gonna be shooting with your personal choice of pistol." Come to Europe where handguns are hard or impossible for civilians to own, like Ireland or the UK,YS you CAN still own handguns in a bastardised form in the UK belive it or not.I'm in Ireland and I am fortunate to still have a Glock 17 and a Ruger Mk 2.22 pistol.I'd love to be able to have the choice like what you have in the US,but those are going to be my SHTF choices as that's all I WILL have and if I did I'd be going 9mm ,as it is more common than 45ACP over here and CZ,as they are as common as Glock.

  • @egillis214
    @egillis214 หลายเดือนก่อน

Glock 22 is the only way.
G22 is 40S&W. Great stopping power.
Add a 9mm barrel. Easy to shoot even 9mm +p+. Low recoil.
Add a 357Sig barrel and get a high speed high penetration round, especially solid copper rounds.
A set of correct caliber magazines helps with feeding reliably, however in a pinch the 40’s will work…usually.
A variable weight recoil rod and springs can help with low power rounds cycling issues.

Maybe, but at some point the office could have backed away and put more distance between himself and her if he was concerned with her throwing boiling water at him. We are all seeing too way to many similar situations where the officers involved have been poorly trained, are too damn scared to be on duty in the first place, or have control issues and can't see any other choice but to "control the situation" forcing people to do what they say and do it now. Beginning at 1:33: "...have a stash of spare parts with me...". Indispensable advice. One way is to have 2 handguns of the same make and model. Carry lube and never less than 3 spare magazines - never less than 3. If favoring a pistol over a revolver, best to favor the pistol most commonplace in the country where you live, and the same for ammunition. In the US, the Glock 17 and Glock 19 and 9mm Lugar ammo are virtually ubiquitous. Keep commonplace in mind for the ability to field harvest pistols, ammunition, and magazines. One of my trainers, a retired tier 1 operator, whose combat pistol in his some 20 years years of service was the M1911A1 (chambered in .45 ACP) advised us students training with the 1911 to "put that ***** out to pasture" and learn the Glock for all of the above reasons.
