Thanks Dave. I was taught that when a diode of a bridge rectifier needs replaced, you should replace all 4 of them.

Robert Calk Jr. I think your correct in instances where the diode failure is due to a short which would have stressed all 4 diodes. In this case there did not appear to be any shorts responsible for the diodes failure, so I figure it's
probably okay. At least I hope so since I stand behind my work. Thanks for the info.

I'm just a hobbyist and don't know much about fixing stuff for a living, but I would go ahead and replace them all if it were mine since diodes are relatively cheap, and to lessen the chance that I would have to open the TV up again. I hope you don't have to waste your time in the near future replacing them and taking a chance of angering your customer.

Robert Calk Jr. I have been in TV service for 35+ yrs.....yes in a lot of cases you should change all the diodes, however, in this circuit arrangement I AGREE with Dave, it's not a high current situation, so I feel it was not imperative to replace all four rect's........the tv will probably be just fine.
Dave was diligent enough to check for other problems, I've seen a lot of tv's run for a while even with this kind of issue and last for a couple month's and then you'll discover the diode which was bad all along !
      GOOD job Dave !

Why take a chance? If the customer has to waste his time bringing the tv back for a dollars worth of diodes he will probably be pissed off. No offence, but I would go somewhere else. I don't mean to sound like a jerk - I'm just being honest. That is unless you want to charge the customer for a repair for each individual diode.

Very informative, documenting the work inside the device is a very old watchmakers procedure that is very handy. Thank you for sharing your work with us!

Great video and right to the point like alot of other videos out there that turn a 5 minute video into an hour long video.
I've got a question that is off point but maybe you can help. I have a proscanPLDED3273A TV that the blue light comes on but nothing else. I am experimenting with my Raspberry Pi400 single board computer and I took an old laptop screen and bought a lcd driver board for it to hook it up to and it works as a screen for the Pi400. I have heard that you can take an lcd screen from a tv and get a driver board and hook it up as a display. Is that possible? Thanks, Mike

I'm not knowledgeable on the possibilities with your idea, but with all the different displays out there it sounds like challenging way to hook up an external display.

@@GrantsPassTVRepair when I took my old Toshiba scrren from an old laptop and found a compatible lcd driver board for $20 on ebay it is simple and works great. The Raspberry Pi is a singleboard computer about the size of a deck of cards but you need adisplay, keyboard and mouse to use with it. You can just use a hdmi cable to hook it up to a tv

there have been some issues with the coil at led power section overheating due to shorted turns. there is an excellent video by someone that describes a method of reducing led current in this crappy TV.

Same exact POS TV I bought just 3 years ago almost to the day. And the only way to see the picture now is with a flashlight. And that means on this LED TV the LED driver is what's wrong with mine. My remedy? A new TV as there's been a gremlin inside this TV since I first turned it on. Oh it worked most of the time but there's been delays in the picture coming on once turned on. Picture lockups. And this latest deal was when I returned from next door Christmas dinner and saw the TV being dark - even though it was on and the sound was working. I just shook my head and grabbed my wallet to see how much money I had. And I had enough for a new one that's certainly going to be better than this thing ever was. I've never had a TV that didn't last longer than I wanted to look at it especially after many years of doing just that. But this Proscan PLED 5529A-C is an unimpressive, barely utilitarian, thin, big screen LED TV that's best days were somewhere else because I surely didn't see much of them here. 3 years and it still sounds...shitty but that's from the speakers on these kinds of TV's - they all sound that way. But you get the jist. The audio works fine. The picture not-so-much...Oh and by the way and for anyone that knows - where's the LED drivers for this TV? On that mainboard like in this video where he found heat problems?? Why do I suspect that I probably have something on this board that's also haywire?? Why I don't have a clue as the TV was out in the open where ventilation shouldn't be any problem. So who knows??

Just curious, can you define what you mean by "extremely hot" (e.g., over 100 degrees, or more)?
