Thank you so much for this educational video!!! By your multimeter test I needed a power supply board. Unfortunately the power supply board I needed wasn’t in stock on your website but I did find one on eBay and now my TV works again! No TV repairman costs at all since I was able to diagnose and fix myself. I’m in a debt of gratitude and will refer everyone possible to your website, videos, products...etc. Thanks!

My Vizio LCD sometimes won’t power on. If I unplug and plug it back in, it will work for a while. Occasionally, it’ll turn off by itself while I watch, and I can usually just turn it back on. Also, if I haven’t used it for a few days, it sometimes won’t turn on. Unplug/replug seems to fix it as I described above. Power board failing?

Hi Jim, thank you very much for your video. I have a Sony Bravia 60" kd-60x690e TV that is five years old today. It turned itself off, and will not turn back on. No lights, nothing.
There was no surge. I removed the plug from the surge protector, and plugged it into the UPS, no change. I plugged it into the wall outlet, no change. I'm guessing a power supply board.
When I watched your video, I could not tell where you grounded the other probe. Obviously, touching one probe to a connection, and leaving the other one dangling will not complete a circuit for electricity to flow. Where did you ground the other probe?
    Thanks.

Dumb question... where do I put the negative lead ? Any metal surface? Or is there somewhere on the board that has the negative lead? Thanks

    • @THOMMGB
      @THOMMGB 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Put the negative lead on the metal frame of your TV. You could stick your negative lead into a metal screw hole, making sure it makes a good connection.

Hello Jimmy. Great video! I have a lg 55ln510, #310rmhr7b601 that will show picture for 30 sec and then the screen goes black. The standby light is on when tv is plugged in. I have checked the standby signal from pwr supply to main brd and get the listed value of 3.5V but I get a 0 for the 12v and the 24v pins. The pins for the wire going from pwr supply to led (+/- +/-) started at approx 13v and quickly dropped to 0 when tv plugged in but not turned on. No visible blown capacitors. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

J Schmidt the black lead is grounded somewhere else on the back of the TV. In a metal screw hole works.

I have an Element ELEFW328 curb orphan I took in. It's Main & PS boards are combined into 1 disappointing failure.I plugged it in standby light came on, hit the pwr button but no picture. Replacement board was only $12. I put it in and same results. I measured voltage at the power switch this time. The board that it came with had 0v. The replacement board put out 6.6 at the power switch. I'm corn-fused. What do those disparate voltages signify? It the power switch bad? I dressed as Uncle Fester last Halloween. I was going to wear the same costume, but say that I'm Rudy Giuliani. Do you think I can pull it off?

What outputs can one expect from the other outputs to the LED's? At the moment there is zilch. I have no picture. What and where do you think the problem area is? Grateful for any advice. Hi, I have a 32" Phillips flat screen T.V. - Model no. 32PFL5522D / 05 . All was fine until a few days ago when I went to turn it on via the remote and nothing happened. The standby light has never come back on when plugging into the power supply. Have tried all the usual tricks by checking the fuse in the plug, plugging T.V. into another socket in another room - no joy. I am about to take off the back of the T.V. and go through the steps as advised on your youtube commentary. It makes sense to do what you advise about checking the standby voltage etc. Just thought I would post this prior to starting the checking procedure in case anyone has any other types of advice before I start.
    Thanking you in anticipation

I have a Sanyo model DP42D23 TV. It has a new P.S. board with all voltages good at the cable coming from the Main board. But it still doesn't come on .There is no standby light that is on. I went to the other end of the ribbon cable from the P.S. Board to the other rf/tuner/line out/in board and all the power and gnd's are good to that point. The board number on the board from the P.S. is NO: PCB J 0995 D1 W46/13. Other numbers on the board are Z7L 305A 49. Not sure if that helps. The power on/off button doesn't turn it on either. I do fine voltage across the power button when press. But still nothing happens from that point on.
Do you think it's that board?

Hi. I have a Panasonic viera plasma TH-42PZ80U TV that will not power on. The red light next to the on button blinks ten times. I am guessing based on research googling the 10 lights, it is the power supply board etx2mm702mf-n. Is that right? Will replacing this board do the trick? Can the board be purchased thru you guys?

I had a problem with no video on a Vizio 50HG5. I did the flashlight test, and I saw images on the screen, so I ordered the "repair kit" that you offered. I replaced the main board, the power supply board, and all the other parts (I figured they would probably go out soon enough). I tried the TV, and now, not only do I not have any video, but I have no audio, and the TV won't come on, or respond with the remote or the buttons. I would like to return your "repair kit". How do I do this?

    • @aquamon1339
      @aquamon1339 8 ปีที่แล้ว

"Repair Kits" are something that came-about by "an expert" that got lucky and is opinionated, "more people will have this problem".
Basically, a rip-off that I stay away from. The parts usually work out cheaper if you bought individually, anyway (from the same source, of course).
I have never bought any "repair kit".

Hi Recently my LG 42 inch TV had backlight issue where video alone was not viable but that was too viable through flash light test. The service technician changed the back light LED after which the TV went to standby mode.
Initially he replaced the main board still it was in standby. Then he changed the power supply board. Still same issue . He change TCON board even the issue persist.
But finally when I asked him to change back all three to old board and when testing he was able to recieve supply to all boards. Which initially did not happen.
Now with all old boards and backlight alone changed the TV still stays in stand by mode.
I feel the technician is not having a sound knowledge on the issue and just like that he is saying the LED panel has to be changed.
With your experience do you have any idea on this issue.
Any small hint would be great full.
    Thank you.

Hello, I have a 12 month old vizio e48-c2 that will not power on (it began after a storm so, lightning is the primary suspect) I've removed the back panel and the components look like none I've seen on line. There is a small board at bottom center roughly 2x6 inches connected by a ribbon to a larger panel at 3 o'clock roughly 8x12 inches.. I can replace the the tv with a new one for $388. Can you tell me what the cost to repair might be? Is it possible that only a fuse is the culprit? Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Billy Hardwick

So to summarise - If you have 5 volts replace one board, if you don't have 5v replace the other. Not really 'troubleshooting' is it? I could have save y'all time on this video by just saying - "Replace both boards". This isn't really a 'troubleshooting" video. I was hoping for more in-depth analysis of the components on the board to track failure.

If you can get the power supply identification number then you should be able to Google for it and purchase it. I had purchased a power supply board for my LG 60" Plasma television on eBay.

I have a Dynex TV Model Number DX-40L261A12. The TV will power on after unplugging then plugging back in. It takes multiple times to do this. I do have the red indicator light that stays lit. Once the TV is on the picture is still excellent and everything works. I did try another power chord and that is not the issue. What do you think it could be?

me too. I'm assuming it goes to one of the ground pins

Use any screw that holds the board down. Those screw to the frame which is the main ground.

do you need to ground your self before starting this process? If yes then how do you do that ? That might be helpful for your viewers. Thanks

Hi, I couldn’t get any reading on the voltage on the power supply but when I disconnected the cable going to the main board the backlight turned on, so does that mean my power supply board needs replacement or the main board?

    Hello,
I like your service and commitment to help / guide the community to repair the TV.
I have a Sony TV - model KDL52XBR9. It has a blank screen - no video or audio or backlight. When I turn ON with Remote or Power button on the TV, just the Green Standby light comes on.
If I disconnect and connect the wall plug, I hear some rely clicking and the backlight comes on for about 45 sec and backlight turns off by it self. Green standby light remains ON till I power OFF.
Can you please help diagnose the issue?
    Thanks, Mohan

My 3yr old Vizio 50in went out so I bought a new board from you. Put it in and it fired right up, worked for a day, turned it off and couldn't get it to come back on. You were supposed to replace this board when one came in. I was told you get a lot of them and would notify me when one came in. No one ever notified me!! I'm still waiting.

    Hi Jimmy,
I have LG 70inch full HD Led tv, unfortunately it does not power on, I showed it to a tv mechanic and He said that display panel is not faulty. Replacing a display panel is too expensive, is there any other way or any alternate method.

I have a MITSUBISHI MODEL "WD-60638". When I turn the TV on nothing happens nor does the indication light come on. I tested the 5V test area on the power board and got a varying 1-2V reading. What would you suggest i look at next. Thank you for your time.

I have a lg plasma 60pm6700-ub. I believe it was stuck by lighting as the surge protector shows it is no longer protecting. Standby light will blink, when I try to turn on screen shows a faint gray color but never shows picture or sound and then appears to turn off. 5v standby pin (what I believe is the pin) one shows around 4 volts(first time using meter). Any help appreciated

Hi SJ as I was watching your video I ran a few test on my Hisense 50H7GB TV. I notice that when I press and hold down the power on the side of the TV the Hisense logo comes on and the TV picture comes on. The TV well stay on for about 2 minutes then it turns off. I have not opened it yet. Could this be a symptom of the power board?

I have a Samsung 55" LED Smart TV that during a recent storm made a loud crack sound and shut down. I have verified that all items in the surge protector still work, but the stand by light and power to the tv does not. If I follow your videos, what kind of price might I be looking at if one of my boards needs to be replaced? Before I invest all the time and money I would like an idea if I should simply buy a new tv and if so, what brand would you recommend?

Hi Shop Jimmy, Nice video, I have a LG, LED 55LW5700 tv, I checked all voltages all are goo except the "power on" voltage. It should be 24V and it is only 3.5V, All other voltages are good, does this mean my main board is bad?

I have a SamSung 59" D6900 Series 6 3D Full HD Plasma TV that was manufactured in 2011 that will turn itself on and off every few seconds and is stuck on PC input this first happened over a year ago when I was switching the input source from one source to another too quickly and I was reluctant to dispose of it because when it is on the picture is near perfect ! Very annoying problem if you have any suggestions what part I might need to replace (if I can find one for such an old TV) that would be very helpful thank you.

I have a 60in Sony mod# KDL60EX500 with a black screen. Took the back cover off and no back lights. Used the flashlight test and nothing. I'm sure the sound was down when it went ko as I was using a sound bar. The only way to get power is to plug and unplug from the wall outlet. When plugged in; the green light is on but nothing works. There is no red light ever. When plugged in; sometimes the little square black unit just below the coaxial connection at the main board glows red. Sorry for my rambling. What do you think is wrong and what can I buy to fix? Thanks
