The video is correct, but the most important part is the end part of the video. It's not HOW you clutch claw but WHEN you clutch claw. If you clutch claw the monster when it's able to attack or after an attack with no openings/end lag, you're going to get hit regardless of how quickly you claw it. You need to learn when you can claw it. Also, unless your only option is to force enrage, your goal should be to wallbang the monster. You can tenderize when it's down or when it flinches/staggers (while it's enraged too, but it's more tricky). If you want to learn to clutch claw, Tempered Furious Rajang will 100->0 you if you don't respect it. Respect the monster, first and foremost.
This is also explained right in the clutch claw tutorial; the best time to clutch claw is actually right after a monster is flinched, since it will just stand still for a bit. That's the most reliable window of opportunity, outside of learning the monster's move set, which is still very important if you want to have the most opportunities possible to your advantage.
It still happens to this day. Target the face and you randomly go to the back leg. It's annoying that the hitbox somehow lets you through and the claw hits another hitbox of another body part.
@@MillerTheOriginal when clutched onto a monster, temporal mantle evades the attack that is supposedly supposed to throw you off so you stay clutched. The same goes for rocksteady but it tanks the hit instead of evade.
getting good with the mechanics of the clutch claw is one of the best ways to see improvement in hunts, feels so much better now than early on fighting tough guys
2:05 my issue is that sometimes this just outright doesn't work properly. You can be right up next to the head, facing the head, with no sort of tail swipe movement that could cause it to claw to the tail, and it still claws to the tail. Similarly, you could be on one side of the head, claw to that specific side, and for whatever reason, the claw seems to attach to the complete OPPOSITE side of the head from both where you are aiming and where you are standing. It doesn't make any sense, and it's a big reason why I think that the Clutch Claw is a downright terrible mechanic.
one big tip is turn your slinger snap to targeting off. It'll always try and claw where you're aiming then and won't snap at angles towards parts sorta near where you're looking
How on earth am i just seeing these. Saved 2 of your videos and have just seen the wealth of content on your profile. I think all of us hunters can agree it feels damn good being flawless and smooth in this game. Your improvement videos are much appreciated
As much as i dislike how it plays mechanically, i do admit it was fun to learn when Iceborne came out. Not the worst universal mechanic they've added. Certainly more fun than wystones anyway.
Wystones were fine tho, you only used them on Apex hunts, and there was a hard limit on what could be Apex. Iceborn is ballanced around clutching EVERYTHING.
Before I use Switch Axe I never even try to wallbang nor tenderize. I just go full pre Iceborn unto all enemy, then I use Switch Axe. Clutch claw now my best friend
Me missing every single clutch claw possible while trying to tenderize Fatalis' head (The trick is to aim near the base of his neck but sometimes i got lazy)
the hammer and the claw where made for each other...but i dont use the claw much with most weapons i also turn off "lock on" so the reticle doesnt jump around from part to part...im just not a big fan of the claw...its has its uses but i like using my weapons as they are...that being said this video was helpful...learned a few things...
Why? Because you are using greatsword, worst tenderise attack ingame. Wait for the clagger and dont jump off on the stagger extention for the juicy frostcraft 3rd charge into headsnipe TCS, just do tenderise! (and also lose 50 billion sharpness)
It's already bye2 MHW I believe for him. Stubborn, not learning game mechanics cause he dgaf or whatever reason, brute forcing and not adapting to enemy moves and not respecting them... Top reasons out of my head that makes him fail the quests. And it's even more obvious against the hardest monsters in the game.
Honestly if you prefer the smoother playstile of monster hunter base game then download this mod " Wounding and HZV overhaul and tenderizing remover" .
Clutch Claw was the reason I got bored and switched over to older MH games. It's nice sometimes, especially with Lance, but it gets spammy and makes some fights feel really one-dimensional.
After the fatalis update it was fine but it took them way too long to fix it. Greatsword and to an extent savage axe CB still suck with it because of extremely slow attacks though. Used to be 90 second duration, now it's 3 minutes and if you use "fast clutch" weapons you can tenderize with one attack with the shaver gem from the same update.
It ain’t rocket science and once you do learn how to use it 90% of fights become trivial once you can abuse clutch claw/flinch shot with mantles. I’m a hater but this mechanic really does make the game worse imo

I once clawed from far onto a monster and the clutch claw magically hit the monster on its other side, just pulling me through over to the other leg.
Teach me how please

it's because the clutch claw is god awful.
Temporal / rocksteady on, and then I begin scratchy scratchy
HR44. How exactly do they help. I see how the rocksteady does, but doesn't temporal just automatically evade?

Thank you, this helps a lot! As a hammer main, the clutch claw is both incredibly satisfying and frustrating at times. 😂

As a controller player, the amount of times I grapple onto hands/arms when I'm aiming at the head is the bane of my existence. Great vid as per usual.
I was wondering this thing last night. Im getting hit most of the time. Now I know why. Thanks
I’ve seen and had this happen so many times

Step 1: Download I.C.E.
Step 2: Have fun using clutch claw as a neat optional mechanic for wall bangs and forget that tenderising ever existed.
Or _maybe_ tenderize incidentally because you used the Lance's Clutch Counter.
If you're not speedrunning you don't need to care about either TBH.
Lol clutch claw is awesome

is the bgm from astral chain?
yes
it's like 1 button just use it when the game tells you to
What is netter. Controller or t&m?. And If U prefer Controller, what Kind of Controller U using. Im using Xbox Controller but im not happy
better*
I recent switched from Xbox Elite Series 2 controller to PS5 Dualshock and it is way better.
oh I thought xboy controllers had better quality or what exactly is the reason
And thank you for helping
I use Xbox Elite Series 2 for most of my games but for some reason the stick deadzone is jank on PC MHW compared to PS5 Dualshock
Too many people these days dont know when to use the clutch claw. So they would do any work around to fix the experience
Asmon needs this.

@@SilversTaurus "already" you mean after he has beaten the base game, beaten the DLC, and continued onto very hard to extremely hard fights?

How to get better at MH? Dont play world, go frontier.
